I've been on the fence about Maye, until now. Thank you for showing me the light. Media focus has been all about weak foot movement, can we say splitting hairs?
They got way to nitpicky for me. Does he have things to work on of course. But when he figures that stuff out he will he great. He has everything you want for a 21 year old QB who can develop and grow into a STAR. So stocked for the Patriots future.
I am super excited to see Drake Maye take over the NFL. I agree with you, I think the Patriots lucked out. I cannot believe the Bears and Washington passed on Maye. I understand why they did...but boy, they blew it. He will be better than Josh Allen. Why? Because he is a pocket passer first. Josh always takes off, but Maye will only take off if he has no other choice. If the Patriots can surround him around with top offensive line, he will exceed our expectations. All we need is decent running ability...and I think he is above average. It's good he is NOT the most talented runner.
@Antawanknight780 I would prefer Brissett starts for at least 6 weeks just because there is no need to rush Maye. We dont have much expectations for this year and we need to figure out the OL still
Maye is still young and really hasn’t played a ton of football. Not like the other qbs in his class. He is still young and raw enough to be able to teach and coach him up into a elite player. There’s a reason people have been talking about him for the last 2 years. I think he has a ton of upside and gives us fans some thing to look forward too.
Drake does remind me a lot of Josh Allen. With great coaching I think he can be even better. Love how he controls the middle of the field and can beat corners on outside.
With Tom Brady it was all about vision, decision making, and the will to win. Will Drake have those qualities? Time will tell. But TB's hunger for greatness was truly unprecedented. It didn't matter how many times he won the Super Bowl. He always wanted more.
Size, speed...and personality. We forget to mention how important it is that the player is a good person. What I don't particularly care for in Caleb Williams is his over-sized "me". I think Drake will keep his feet on the ground, be humble, be a team player, and create cohesion on his team. What's there not to like?
Im a Commanders fan and happy with Jayden but believe Maye could be a good QB, just as i believe a few guys this draft could be good. The top QBs this year have a shot and have been drafted in good places.
@@todmarvell4354 I think so. I never say Daniels throw into tight windows over the middle of the field often. He also has a good arm down the field I just dont think he has the velocity that Maye does imo!
the coverage of top qbs painted drake as the project, the bust potential. I literally can’t disagree more and will just say watch what happens ❤ and I watched every game every snap drake had in his 2 yrs starting.
I've watched every snap of JJ McCarthy Michigan career and I'm sure I have the same outlook on JJ as you do with Drake. I still like JJ over Drake but I'm starting to like what what I'm hearing coming out about him
@@Rayraywheelz Interesting you like JJ so much I just never saw him in a NFL type system so it concerned me that he could continually do it at the highest level was my only concern
Trust me I know how good he is. He was my #1 QB in this Draft I just dont think it is time to start him. Hes only 21 and there are still alot of questions with this OL and WR group so no need to throw him out there week 1 and let him struggle like Mac did
He has a high ceiling. Pats need a lot of work. He is a rookie QB going into a developmental team with a hard ass fan base who still wants championships now. He has an uphill battle. Now can the pats lose and still not be calling for heads to roll and build it up?
This is more of a rebuild year then ever. New Coach, Top 3 QB and very low expectations. When Brady left I think people still thought we would dominate the NFL which was unlikely, but some thought it was that easy. Yes this is one of the most passionate fan base in the NFL, but when he is ready to go he is going to kill it imo
Its better to have rookies sit a little especially when you have a questionable OL and a WR core that needs to prove themselves. It is hard being a NFL QB no matter what pick you are so no need to rush him into it
What’s the rush? We don’t really know what this offense looks like. It could still be horrible. There’s no sense throwing him into a horrible offense to throw off his internal clock & mess with his mechanics. I’d rather be horrible again this year while he sits 3/4ths of the year, get him reps in low pressure games at the end of the year & then use another high draft pick to take a blue chip tackle or receiver next year and continue to build the offense. Then you start him the following year with a better offense. That way you’re kinda reverse engineering the “build the team around the QB before you draft him”. Drake is too good of a prospect to pass up on. Better than any of the prospects in the years to come IMO. So now we have him secured & we can focus on properly building around him while not completely destroying him.
My guess would be because he’s 21 and that gives him time to sit and learn. Despite wether he’s ready to start week 1 or week 10, he’s just going to be better prepared watching the speed of NFL defenses before he’s fed to them. Plus it gives coach Mayo time to see where the holes in his O line are. Don’t wanna get our new toy broken right away if we can avoid it. Do I believe he can start week 1? Yes. Do I also believe sitting for a bit would be beneficial? Also yes.
