Lambourne was being kind to call Patterson a very good defender. He is a tree back there, doesn’t read the hitter particularly well and has slow reactions compared to the better defenders. Todd Rodgers was a great defensive player in part bc of Phil taking away so much court and giving him that extra time to chase down shots. With an avg blocker Casey would not have any shot of winning now. Good setter though and can still side out at a high level so there’s that
Partian has more skills than Crabb. Partian is taller and more smoother and more deceptive than Crabb. Partian is a lefty who knows what he is doing this is a lethal mix and a very difficult player to read and find defensive balance against him. Partian has more tools in his tool box than Crabb. I like this Sanders guy for Crabb he hits the ball at the FIVB level. Altho I think they inflate his height to me he looks like a short 6ft 5" or more like a barely 6ft 4", they list him as 6ft 7" I think no way?... Anywho what is dynamite about Sanders is that he can stretch and sky and he plays tall unlike Grandpa Gibb who was tall always went into the mental funk of playing like a short player on offense. With Sanders Crabb maybe able to make some head way into the FIVB If Partian stays healthy and increases his stamina he can be the next Karch Kilray

I love them both, but I think they could both be dominant if they played with big guys and yeah no way Sander is 6'7", lol. He's 6'4" on the team USA roster and Wiki, which they usually give an inch minimum. But they say Taylor is 6' and I think that's giving him some, which is even more impressive tho. But yeah, I don't see them being a top contender internationally.
Great post all truthful observations in your post thanks for writing it. I'll go as far as saying Sanders is a solid just I tiny bit shy of 6 ft 4". Sanders yes needs a taller guy to play with. Sanders can win gold at the Olympics because he is a hitting addict. You can't win on the FIVB if you can't bang from anywhere on the court Sanders can (for now). But the taller player should be a leader and older and more mature than Sanders to keep his head from going hot. His head goes hot he goes stupid. It has become clear that Sanders is a bumble fuck basket of errors jump serve addict with no mental discipline to calm his emotions. So yes Sanders with a taller player would be a team that is dynamo provided Sanders does not cop an attitude when his taller veteran partner points out his weaknesses and the way to fix it. Ive mentioned the one who flew over the cuckoos nest Casey Patterson as a possible Sanders partner. Casey has become a basket case playing with Phil he is too god dam nervous only because he thinks you got to win with Phil or your game isn't good enough. Casey spun a web of deafest around himself by kissing Phil's butt too much worshiping him and now as we see they suck together. Bottom line Casey is a constant 'worry wart' all game long playing as Phil's partner. I'm thinking with the energy of Sanders Casey can be Casey and Sanders would inject Patterson with new energy and Casey can give Sanders veteran maturity leadership. I would not give Sanders Theo 'Beefcake' Brunner only because Brunner and Chaim are playing at the highest level for Olympic gold medal contention. They are playing beautiful volleyball. Then there is that Phil guy hanging around.
