Thanks for you query, some times we can do selective etching with phosphoric acid as surface cleaning (Pre surface preparation) for 5 sec only if we choose self etching bonding system, specially in midline diastema closure cases or in young teeth. So its not necessary but if you want you can do based on cases. if you have more query, feel free to ask, thanks in advance.
