"I understand they had to play it safe." You acknowledging that alone, and understanding that they needed a more typical sound for Queendom vs Feel My Rhythm is so far above like 80% of the other Kpop reaction vids.
I agree and I appreciate your reaction. It's more mature than many that are out there.

Everything about this song is just beautiful. Visually and sonically, it's all just so beautiful. The addition of the Bach and the birds really makes it sound so classy and instantly gets stuck in your head and the girls are astoundingly gorgeous as usual

You're so right with Queendom as their re-intro as RV since it as a release for fans to know where they were at that time and what they have learned over the course of their hiatus then going back to their quirky roots with Feel My Rhythm further cementing their name as k-pop's musically interesting group. Its also important to note that the members participated a lot in the preparation with the concepts etc for this one so they really know what the fans will love and at the same time pique their interests.

It's a famous painter's style of painting, it also has a sample of Bach's work. It really is a beautiful mv with all the members as individual masterpieces coming together. Can't wait for their "Bamboleo" mv, it's going to be absolute 🔥. Great reaction video, love watching music videos with you, so fun. Thank you. Our Red Velvet has definitely leveled-up 🕊💗🥂🎉

The aesthetics are amazing, kind of the lighter side of psycho. This is as visually vibrant an mv as I've seen in a while, maybe since more and more.
I honestly thought they were going velvet side creepy psycho killer that starts out Alice in wonderland then goes full nightmare on elm street...they fooled me. I loved this right away, it's a bop. Great reaction and the other songs are so good too, can't wait for the album review.

So plus also, you probably saw this when you got more into repeats and watching everything about this after this first watch reaction, but they're inside the broken body of the giant, that falls during the amazing animation part when the modulation takes place - that is shown in the Hieronymus Bosch, you can even see that there are people seated at a table inside that figure in the painting, as they are. You can see basically all of their individual scenes in that triptych as well - the chair Seulgi is sitting on, the bubble/shell that Yeri is in, the flower Joy is in, a boat (although it doesn't quite look like what Irene is on), and there is an image of a bird with a long needle like beak with a round red drop on it kind of like what we see with Joy when she is confronting the bird and pops the little bubble thing. The least clear reference is Wendy's situation ... not sure... but there are gigantic strawberries! And of course the opening scene art references are so cool as well, but it's just so epic and gorgeous.

10:48 Strawberry comes from Bosch's painting and symbolizes worldly desires.
11:59 It is inside the body of the fallen creature. The emptiness inside the body suggests something.
12:21 Strange structures and giant birds are from bosch's paintings.

I'm with you on the whole "Kwangya" thing.
Most people don't seem to think Red Velvet needs it, and their connection to it so far seems peripheral at best.
Fortunately LSM seems to know what kind of group Red Velvet is and is letting them be their own entity.
Let Aespa and NCT handle that.

  • @jennychung29
    @jennychung29 2 роки тому +3

RV already in Kwangya from Queendom. It means NCT and aespa are only 2 groups still be human, they will meet in Kwangya as human. RV join in Taeyeon, Taemin, Exo, as some of goddess in Kwangya.
SM can't spend money for all of the group, who are become god/goddess, mean they don't have high budget. SM is no joke with music, but they got different budget with MV.

The MV perfectly captured the pleasurable and tormenting vibe of the "Garden of Earthly Delights," a painting by Hieronymus Bosch from the 1500s. It depicts heaven and hell sceneries replete with strange, unearthly creatures and demons.
02:05 Seulgi represents the demon in the panel 3 of the painting, a beaked demon which devours people in hell and defecates them to a pit of void. The strange, tall chair that Seulgi is sitting on is the same as the chair that the demon in the painting sits on.
02:08 Yeri inside the cracked pearl-like orb is similar to those cracked pearls in panel 2 of the painting, panel 2 representing people frolicking and cavorting in an earthly/heavenly landscape. In the painting, those cracked orbs contain people inside.
02:21 The backdrop looks like the temple-like pillar in panel 1. Panel 1 of the painting depicts a garden of Eden, complete with Adam and Eve. This pillar-like structure can also be seen at the end of the MV, where Seulgi peers from.
02:26 Irene in that boat may depict the numerous boats in panel 3. Panel 3 of the painting depicts a hellish landscape with demons harming people in hell, and people being punished in grotesque ways. The Treeman in this panel also has boats for feet, and we can later see the Treeman in several scenes during the bridge.
04:28 The painter, Hieronymus Bosch is said to have been afflicted with delusions or hallucinations, hence, the unearthly paintings. Some say he was suffering from "Saint Anthony's Fire," a bodily reaction to ergots, black fungus on wheat, which is said to produce hallucinations. Saint Anthony himself is also depicted in the painting.
04:45 The dark-faced creature to whom Irene was offering a basket of strawberries may be the "Tree Man," a creature depicted in panel 3. Strawberries themselves, as well as cherries and raspberries, are heavily depicted in panel 2, which may or may not represent indulgence.
05:20 The dark shift in sound as lead by Yeri's sing-rap represents the duality of the song and the painting that the video is heavily referencing. At the start of the bridge, it sounded heavenly and angelic, cathartic and euphoric almost, but, just like the several parts of the song, it shifted to a darker sound. This was also heard in several parts of the song, such as the Bach instrumental in the intro being upended by the heavy industrial percussion in verse 1, as well as the connection between the first chorus and verse 2, which was upended by a jarring, glitchy sound)---these things symbollize the torment, and the dark, demonic imageries beneath the heavenly surface, ultimately and perfectly representing the disjoint between pleasure and torment, salvation and punishment.
06:02 We can see the "Tree Man" behind Irene, a pale-colored creature with a hollow body. This was the same Tree Man to whom the strawberries was being offered to, and the same Tree Man in...
06:11 The girls are already inside Tree Man's hollow body itself, it was not heavily depicted in the video, as it might be too grotesque for mass consumption, but we can even see Tree Man's arms/legs at the side of that structure.

After now listening 5-6 times, my take right now is that I like the song, but wish I loved it. I wish I could take a chisel and chip away a thick layer of SM, I can hear a song I absolutely love in there but so often I felt like it gets buried in the mix. I am 100% on board with all of the b-sides though, they're phenomenal.

Just admit you want them to do "Bad Boy" over and over again.
If Red Velvet ever stuck to one concept they wouldn't be Red Velvet anymore.
Then they'd be just like every other boring, one-dimensional Kpop group that puts out the exact same song and concept every single comeback.
