Army personnel are protectors of the country, including the police men of all states. Army personnel have their own courts to deal with their lapses, if any. Police are only required to salute and inform them of the lapse and report to their commanding officer. If, confirmed of the offence, they will get suitable punishment. They should not be disrespected outside. It would be proper the police in question need be punished and be educated about the matter.

Pursuant to criminal procedure code, a policeman can stop any person for inquiry if there raise a reasonable suspicion. Thereafter, an arrest can be made against any person regardles of any rank or stature if the person is suspected of having committed an offence under a prescribed law.
Section 41(1)(f) of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 also gives power to the police officer to arrest an army officer who is reasonably suspected of being a deserter from any of the armed forces of the Union without any prior permission.
