- On Tuesday, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk announced that he was moving his companies X and Space X from California to Texas. Musk has said that the relocation of his two companies' headquarters is in protest at a new gender identity law in California which he opposes.
On Monday, July 15th, California's Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom, signed new legislation on gender identity. The bill makes California the first US state to ban schools from informing parents of their child's desire to change their gender identity, or be addressed by different pronouns or names. LGBTQ+ organizations say the law protects transgender children living in hostile family situations. Since the bill was signed into law, a southern California school district has sued Gov. Newsom, claiming the law undermines the parent-child relationship. Emily Rae, a lawyer representing the school district, has said that "school officials do not have the right to keep secrets from parents, but parents do have a constitutional right to know what their minor children are doing at school."
Among the critics, Elon Musk has described the new law as an 'attack' on families, and said he would take his businesses to conservative Texas, which also has a lower corporate tax rate.

@@lesliespeaker668 - I have nothing against a CEO that has lead Tesla to a place where the shares I bought back in 2018 at a split-adjusted price of $15 per share is now worth $250 per share, meaning my investment is up 593 %.

The law is problematic. The whole gender thing at this point would have you believe the percentage of the human population that has a non binary affiliation is larger than reality. And there are laws for minors for a reason….parents have to be involved.

I'm by no means conservative but this law makes no sense a child is a child until they are 18. Until they are 18 their parent should know what's going on with their own child.
Parents should talk to their kids, ask them, pay attention to what is going on, not use teachers as an intermediary. And they can still call the teacher and ask them, it's just not mandatory for the teacher to reach out for the parents.

As an educator all this does is allow students to put their chosen name in (parenthesis) after their legal name. We don’t control what a student goes by gender wise. I don’t even think this is on rosters anymore. He’s making a big deal over nothing. And this is helpful for educators & students alike. Let him enjoy Texas. We’re a large economy so we don’t care.
I'm in California, the New Math Framework being adopted is all "Woked" up and full of DEI standards, not math standards. There's even an online petition by educators against it. The Framework went through anyway. It's not just the pronouns in California which once had the highest test scores, but now near the bottom. Seeya Elon.

He is a total waste of space (pun intended) - changes his ideas and political stances as often as I change my underwear. So Musk is going to move all his operations to Texas. What happens to all his employees who have homes, children in schools, families, etc. and have established a life in the State of California (possibly for a lifetime) - is he going to force them to move or be out of a job? I used to hold him in high regard but now he could not be lower in my estimation.
