Hi Stacey What a lovely sunny day. We've never been to Carmarthen, it looks lovely. Great that the castle is free. Thanks for sharing 😊 Hope you are all well ❤
Yay for Solo trips 👍🥰 Nice facts too, I can never remember anything thats why I opt for pop ups on our videos 🤔🤣 it was very quiet & looked a fun place to explore, & Free Castles are always the best to look around 🏰😜 You did pick a lovely day for your visit, Thanks for taking us along with you 🤩 you should do more of these, it was fun ❤🤩xx
Haha those were the only facts I knew. I wish I'd had Craig with me for this because he knows everything! I swear he has a second brain for all of his general knowledge. Yeah the castle is free because it's basically just a wall 🤷♀️ still good to see though. It was a really lovely day. I'll definitely be doing it again. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for watching xx
@@thereesfamilyadventures You would love York, That Has a wall to walk around too & lots of book shops 👍🥰 I could do with two brains 🧠 although right now I’d be happy with one that worked properly 😳😜Looking forward to more like this ❤️xx
@@thereesfamilyadventures If You & Craig do come to Flamingoland its only 20 mins from York 🤔 You could have a quick evening whistle stop tour 😬on the way home after the Park 🫢xx
Your earrings are perfect 🤩 what a beautiful day for an explore around a beautiful town! Love the castle and the little quaint streets. The food looked lovely especially the cheesecake and live the decor in there 🤩 what a great adventure out thanks so much for sharing! Hope you’re having a great start to your week 💙✨
Thanks for watching guys. The earrings are lush aren't they! My friend makes them. It was a lovely day. The food was sooo good, hard to believe that just a few years ago that restaurant was a fully operating magistrates court! Thank you for watching ❤️
Aah thank you for watching. The earrings are cute aren't they? I really enjoyed my day in Carmarthen. I'll be doing more of this type of thing as I had requests about showing Welsh towns and villages. It was a lovely day ☺️
Lovely girl, lovely little visit and a pleasant little video. I'm not a Welshman, although have a Welsh family, and haave lived here many years. So it has always been a surprise to find that the Welsh folk have very little idea of their own history - and Carmarthen probably has more history than anywhere else in Wales. Local architect John Nash was responsible for the newest facade of Buckingham Palace as well as the prisons in Carmarthen and Swansea. He also designed the garden houses in Richmond Terrace. Carmarthen lyricist Brinley Richards wrote the hymn "God Bless the Prince of Wales. Carmarthen was also the principal town involved with The Rebecca and Tollgate Riots. The early corruption of the town's councils, mayor and other officials brought in new legislation nationwide as standard. Carmarthen Court was the scene of the trials of one famous murder and one believed murder. At one time the town was much bigger than Cardiff, and also had a ship-building history for up to 600 tons. There are parts of the old gates that virtually no-one is aware that still exists. There are only seven Roman amphitheatres in GB, with Carmarthen having one of them. The River Towy is famous for its own design of coracles that can be seen active during the summer nights. It is also famous for its early police force known as "The Carmarthen Shilling" - twelve Coppers! The late magician Paul Daniels' great Grandfather was one of them. Legend has it that Merlin the Magician made the claim "Should Merlin's Oak shall tumble down, Then shall fall Carmarthen town." Whether or not true, it's part of the history and fabric of this little town. Some of the main streets are still laid out on the old Roman lines and are worth a stroll around. There is more to this town than meets the casual eye. Where you were filming inside the castle grounds, you saw, but didn't know you were looking at one of the remaining old police county lockups dating from pre-1860, and the replica gallows located behind the locked gate. There are two images associated with early Watchmen (early form of police); one is a photo of a Watchman in London, the other is a drawing of a Carmarthen Watchman known as Will-y-Lon. Both of these figure in Police history all over the UK. Carmarthen is rich in history, and I have only covered snippets of it! Give it another visit Stacey, and although I'm an old man, I'll happily show you around.
Wow thank you for this. Loved reading this. It's a sad reality for us, Welsh history isn't really something we were ever taught in school. But I'd love to learn more about it all so I can teach my children about our history. We are from Llanelli and I do know that the town played a big part with the Rebecca Riots too. I used to live by the old workhouse where they were held...it's a block of flats nowadays. Your comment was a fascinating read, so thank you for it. Have a wonderful weekend 😀
Hi Stacey. What a beautiful sunny day. Good to see you wearing your pretty earrings. Looks a lovely place. Like the castle and it's good that it's free. Your food looked good. A honeycomb latte sounds so nice and the cheesecake looked delicious. Those gold sparkly boots were fun. Pleased you had a wonderful day. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️
Hi both! I'm living in those earrings at the moment because they are so cheerful. I really enjoyed my day. The castle is basically just a wall, but it's interesting to be able to see the gallows in there. The food was sooo good. I've been in there a couple of times now and it's always good in there. Plus it's so cool to be able to see the historical courtroom! Thank you for watching ❤️
Really cool tour Stacey (got to say Carmarthen looked nice 👌🏻 it’s been years since I’ve visited and to be honest its better now than then ) Lunch looked nice (a well earned treat 🙏🏼🤠)by the way did you hear much Welsh being spoken?? You do hear it a lot up north Wales 🏴 Best wishes Simon A great trip 🤠👍
Thanks Simon. Yes there's a bit of rivalry between my town and Carmarthen because despite my town being the biggest in Carmarthenshire, Carmarthen gets all of the investment. Still it's nice to walk around. There are a lot of Welsh speakers in my area actually, not as much as North Wales but I do hear it spoken, pretty much every time I leave the house. Have a great weekend
Thank you for watching. Yes it's so interesting to have the castle right there in the town. I wish I'd had Craig with me, he knows all of the historical facts. The food was gorgeous. Thanks for watching another of my videos

Wonderful history of Carmarthen. I'll be going to Gelligaer Roman fort tomorrow so please look out for that.
