- In the episode, Jaspal Bhatti tries to bring to attention that getting a Ph.D. is more than the research as the scholars have to concede to their research guide demands.
Bhatti Saheb is a Professor who is guiding three of his students to get the thesis. He tries to take advantage of his position by trying to fix marriage of his wife's divorced sister to one of his student. But he is in for a shock as the groom for his wife's sister he is eyeing turns out to be smarter.

As far as I know nobody else has addressed the question of quality of University research in India. Probably because Bhatti Saab was one of the few really educated people in the industry.

I got PhD with great difficulty because Indian supervisors have so much ego and dictatorship to get thesis done. Some of earlier colleague left PhD without completing. This is a big disease in Indian Universities. There has to be some other mechanism for getting PhD. We need to improve the education system

RIP Bhatti saab, we grew up watching your satire. I am not from Punjab, but the unfortunate day you left us , i was in Punjab and heard the tragic news on radio in my car. Your contribution to small screen can never be forgotten, not by atleast us, the 90's kids.

Total relatable being a PhD scholar. I don't understand why supervisors (mayb in India) treat their phd scholars as slaves & servants. Pure humor no vulgar, no racist or sexist joke, no abuse, no slang words. We miss u Bhatti Ji.
How people get treated has a lot to do with the power relations of the players in the situation. Combine that with the Asian hierarchical mentality, where superiors are elevated to a godly pedestal and you got yourselves the chemical reaction that blew up in the video!

So relevant to Indian Universities. Few friends of mine were harassed by their guides, the reason is we lack ethics of research and the Indian University system is controlled by a group of goon local mafia teachers.

My research guide in Osmania University Chemistry Department during 1973 to 1976 was exactly like this Professor...
I have become very nostalgic watching 'Flop Show'..Jaspal Bhatti was a real patriot..He was way ahead of his time..
One of the best episodes. Every PhD student can somewhat relate to his journey.
I didn't start MD for this reason, Indian mentors use pg and phd scholars like domestic help.

Although it’s very funny and comedy par excellence but the reality of any student who has to do a thesis is shown very well. Guides are egoist and psychos. Most of them. Khud kuch aata nahin but thesis complete nahin hone deni. I sometimes feel that students will be able to complete a better thesis and that too faster if no guides are assigned, atleast in India.
Pure and complete family show. Missing 😢😢those days and Bhatti sir. Proud to be born in 90s 👍👍👍

Young boys who are in professional courses must watch this show seriously. Young boys from college , to be professionals, must watch this show seriously before going to job/PHD degree. I felt very sad seeing this reality. This is the dark reality, how good students/ professionals are deprived and poor students/professionals are given the privilege. This is evergreen show. This show never gets old.
I miss Bhatti saab very much. If he is still there he certainly would have exposed many of our today's politicians. His wife also is an excellent satirist.

In Indian University PhD candidate choose on chamcha giri nature of student. Guide understood himself a Noble laureate and he feel his students are their servent. Today in Indian Universities faculty members are choosed not on the basis of talent but their degrees ...PhD is mendetory for Asst Prof in University but on interview time they seek Post doc from foreign Universities not from Indian Post doc then candidate have talent or not that's why Indian University's situation is too much critical.
