    After leaving the city of Aguascalientes, we decided to make a stop in Leon, Guanajuato to further explore another amazing city in Mexico. Mexico is full of so many incredible places, each special, and unique in its own way. Leon, Guanajuato is known for its leather production and its name boasts the pride that represents the city. During the time we spent there, we encountered street performances, artists, and two weddings. This was our second visit to Leon, and we noticed that there was a heavy presence of the national guard and learned that a few weeks prior, there was a huge arrest putting the city on high alert. For those who are new to our channel, make sure you check out our other "Mexico Travel" vlogs, as well as, temporary residency, cost of living 2021/ 2022 Mexico, Queretaro neighborhood tours, and traveling with pets in Mexico videos. We have a plethora of information available with MUCH more to come...

      @@WhyNotNow I live in the US in Southern California. I would love to go back to visit Mexico soon. I have a faint memory of Mexico. Faint, because I was very little, last time I was there. It seems like it was all a foggy dream. But, no I was there, it was just so long ago. I have some memories of the place both good and bad. Mostly good memories. But, it feels like it was all a dream. Or like it was another planet, things have changed so much. Mexico is still more beautiful than I remember, but I vaguely recall the smell of the leather in Leon, the shoes. And I remember Woolworths the Wal-Mart of the 70s. It's quite a trip really just trying to remember it all. I am going to be thrilled once I go back. Oh, I remember the TACOS 🌮 DE CHORIZO 😋 those were my favorite.

    I was born in Leon, moved to the US when I was 5 and only returned when I was 39. I'm 44 now so this was 5 years ago. I loved the vibe, the city grew exponentially from what I recalled as a kid. Is a big city so it comes with all the perks and downs of a big city, more of everything in the good sense and the bad one. My parents retired in the US and live most of the year in Leon, for the past couple of years. My dad loves it, my mom not too much but more for her personal reasons. The city is relatively safe if you keep to yourself, don't show or talk more than you have to. My mom is an expert in this, since the neighbours say 'Oh your kids are all grown up and live in the US right" and my mom replies "Yes but they don't even talk to me, I get just by with the meager retirement my husband gets in Mexico" this is a lie ofcourse, they both have US retirement, plus my dad who was an ex-cop in Mexico also gets retirement and my sister and brothers we all help them out monthly as well. They don't have a car, they don't flaunt, they make it seems as if they are just getting by.

    It’s great to always be aware of your surroundings. One tip is to always wear your backpack in front of you (especially if you’re obviously a tourist)
    As far as the police presence, it’s just a different type. In the U.S you see them in normal vehicles with pistol, whereas in Leon you see them riding in truck with bigger weapons.
    But it’s a normal for the city. Just different styles of patrolling

    Ah, Leon, the city where shoes are made for walking and tacos are made for devouring! Picture this: you'll find yourself surrounded by the sweet scent of leather in a place where cobblestone streets play hide and seek with your sense of direction. If you’re not already sold on the endless array of taco spots offering a fiesta in your mouth, there’s more! Ever wanted to outdance a local? Leon's vibrant folkloric dance scene might just challenge your two-left-feet status. And who can resist the temptation of exploring a city known for its International Balloon Festival? Just remember, don’t let the balloon fly you away before you’ve had your fill of tacos and dance-offs! Leon - where your taste buds, feet, and perhaps dignity might be put to the ultimate test! Although we've been blessed to have been able to see a number of different beautiful churches (each unique) in Mexico, the interior of that one was absolutely stunning.

    I was born in leon can’t wait to go back after 20 years 🙏 … & yeah leon way different when it comes to crossing streets anything else besides that is nice & the part about why so much police & national guard is because there’s death bodies dropping everyday but not everywhere is just specific areas like my friends from back home says “ if you looking for trouble you gone find it & quick “ just like here in US but next time try some guacamayas typical food from leon gto 👌

    • @WhyNotNow
      @WhyNotNow  3 роки тому

      Agree Gerald. As we've reiterated in many of our videos, Mexico is a beautiful country and the U.S. in our opinion, has more "danger" if you will than anything we've experienced living in Mexico. We are actually from some of those "big cities" you refer to in the U.S. On a side note, there was something that happened as of recent in Leon which we chose not to speak about on camera; our viewers are smart and can put 2 and 2 together by reading the comments section. Many of our viewers are Mexican and were very clear/ aware of what we had eluded to.

      Absolutely; as with anything in life, one must always be open to learn/ evolve (many times that comes from the unexpected circumstances of life). We are aware that there are some individuals that may need "more life ripening" experiences than others, but some of us lost that green behind the years long ago. 😉 We look forward to continuing to learn about Mexico through experience.

      HI Osborne Bay, As we have stated previously, the way we see it, issues occur in any country throughout the globe; no place is completely exempt from crime/ problems as people are the creators of such issues, and there is no shortage of "us". Quite honestly, we are disturbed when we watch the news of what is going on/ continues to reoccur (much of it isn't new sadly) back in our native country, of the U.S. Wherever one chooses to call home, or visit, the best thing to do is educate yourself on the happenings in that country, and be aware of your surrondings in general.

      Ola Jose, Escuchamos opiniones diferentes y damos la bienvenida a todas las perspectivas. Sabemos que el peligro existe en todas partes del mundo y simplemente prestamos atención sin importar dónde vivamos o viajemos. También nos sorprende cuando escuchamos a personas que piensan que Estados Unidos, por ejemplo, es tan seguro cuando en absoluto no lo es. También hay algunas ciudades / áreas muy violentas en nuestro país natal. Esta es la vida, lamentablemente. Dios te bendiga.
