My next door neighbors, an elderly couple, had sold their F150 and bought a new Transit Connect. They love it because it has spacious interior room and is very fuel efficient. They use it to take their (5) grandkids to the parks, lake, and on some road trips (vacation).
I may get it to transport my dogs and maybe for large tvs or a washing machine
I just Lyfted in this car and I love it
It is not fuel efficient.been driving for a week as a taxi in nyc eats a lot of gas😢😢
@muhammadumar1125
Stop n go traffic will ALWAYS be a gas eater. That's why highway driving is more efficient form of driving. Think cruise control.
Boy, that's the snarkiest car review I have watched in a long time.
Bought one for my service business. I carry 1,000 lbs of tools and still get as much as 24 mpg (22.8 average). I kept my F150 but use this van more because it gets around so much easier.
I've grown to love the Transit Connect. You can fit tons of equipment and the gas mileage is excellent. It's easy to get in and out of if you're tall.
True
How many miles do you have on yours?
@@luperamos7307 Just hit 150,000 recently!
Sorry, but you omitted to demo one of the most appealing feature of the Transit Connect Wagon: the cargo space when you fold the third and second row seats. The fact that it has such a high ceiling allows you to carry suitcases vertically, thus maximizing the capacity.
Ford stopped making the short wheel base and 1.6 turbo charged engine available in the USA. You can still elect the two van doors instead of the lift gate, but the lift gate is the best option.
Mini Camper Van - upfitters and DIYers do it. Very versatile when large spaces are not wanted.
When is Ford going to put the hybrid powerplant from the Maverick into the Transit Connect? That would be a killer.
I'm hoping the connect is getting discontinued because they're gonna bring it back as a hybrid or ev. It honestly would have made more sense to make this transit van the electric one and not the big body style because these are already smaller and evs cant handle a lot of workload right now
Ford should have have made the Mach E their affordable fully EV SUV instead of a fake performance SUV with mustang badges on it.
Don’t sell it short, it’s actually great cargo van for work. I can carry a lot and fit that thing into tiny parking spaces in the city. Plus it comes with a bulkhead so you don’t get killed by your tools in a crash.
We bought a 2021 when looking for another minivan. I was a skeptic but I know other cycling folks who have them and like them. Now after a few years I love the practicality of this. It does have a massively plastic interior, but it just does everything I need. A couple of bikes or a major appliance inside is easy. We have done a cross country road trip and even spent a night in it while camping. Averaging over 26 mpg. Sad that this whole segment of small work style vans is gone after this year!!
I wish they would bring more companies would bring small vans over.
They make it for people like me, and others in the comments. I love mine! I got the XLT extended wheel base cargo van (no seats) to camp or stealth camp overnight with my dogs while traveling. It gets amazing mileage. I got the cargo version. My dislikes are minor: not able to reach the windshield, always hard for me to find the ignition slot! I don't need it to be quick because my dogs are usually with me. I waited and for a looooong time and got my 2020 with 3k miles on it for $17k.
I’d consider watching another review if Ben talked at a normal speed. It’s like trying to listen to a middle school student.
Transit Connects are basically the Honda Element of the 2020s. Fantastic and affordable vehicle - especially for the bicycling and climbing crowd.
....and Windsurfers
Depends on who needs it i guess,i removed one second row seat, lower the third,i use it as a work vehicle, that one seat is for my daughters car seat, the regular transit connect doesn’t even have rear seats, also it doesn’t have heating in the back.
Awesome review Ben.
I hate to see it go. It does well for people with wheelchairs. The sliding door on the driver side is essential for my daughter's access. The smaller size is great for urban driving.
they need to offer an AWD version and maybe a ecoboost enegine option. This is a great alternative to SUV's and minivans.
Ford used to offer a four-cylinder EcoBoost in this vehicle but they discontinued it due to above average problems. It only made slightly better power than the standard 4 cylinder so I suppose it wasn't worth the problems.
I don't think there's anyone on the fence because it doesn't have AWD. No one is busting trails in this thing. Even then, what we've put FWD vans through in Eastern Europe through washed-out gravel roads in the Carpathians, I don't think it's really that critical.
@@benthurber5363 Your not wrong and good tires will help that. These days I am not paying these car prices and not have power in all four corners. It's worth having and I not longer buy car without awd. It is a priceless option for me.
Yes it does. It's a modern day winstar
It's the last compact commercial van available in the usa
I am really liking this vehicle.
love mine. can tow up to 2000 lbs. and can take 5 people with me. never think of it as a sports car like most people want. you want a sports car go buy a sports car. this is an economy car.
This was ben telling us he doesnt like this vehicle with out saying it
I miss the Mercury Villager.. or as my Dad called it when it was full of kids.. Pillager..
Its a great car, really comfortable
No AWD not worth it for me. Only alternative is a Subaru Outback. I wish they offered AWD and I’d have chosen this over the Outback in a heartbeat
I NEEED ONE
They make a lot of since when you need to move more then a cars worth but less than a small bus, used them a number of times. Besides I thought they where always more of a business minivan.
My gf wants her caravan back and I got a full time ups job in a rural bc town . 65 parcels a day during day and then hauling kids in the afternoon
The Ford transit van is awesome!
That’s funny, and the 7:38 time mark you stopped right behind a Subaru outback wagon which is the exact car I’m considering buying if I don’t buy a transit connect. I realized two different beast but my main goal is to have something I can sleep in on road trips, these days with the price of gas and food, nice to be able to skip the cost of hotels a few nights a week well on the road, by sleeping in the car. I’m wondering about the interior dimensions of this van when you take out the seats is it a completely flat floor? How far is it from the back of the drivers seat to the back of the car? Hopefully it’s at least 8 ft long interior So there’s plenty of room for any building material transport, a bag, coolers and other miscellaneous car-camping gear
dose the engine shut off at traffic lights
What I like is that Car People aren't the fast talking kind.
European here. I also own Tourneo Connect. Are van based vehicles used more in the US then in the previous years?
Ford Focus with a van body.
I love it! A minivan he asks? How about a "Mini" Minivan?
I wish Ford didn't discontinue the Ford Flex that was a pretty cool SUV we meaning my parents when we went to Florida rented the Ford Flex from a rental car service it was a pretty nice interior it was a bad mistake that Ford discontinued it
Flex Died after 2016. They Quit Making it due to Poor Sales and one of the Plant Close as well
People didn't buy it. But I agree that it was a nice car. Also prefect for road trips. Enough ground clearance and even long enough to sleep in it
Oh wow so did this replace the Ford Freestar/Windstar? Or is it should post to be a small van not a minivan.
It's the 6/16/2022 and the dealer doesn't seem to list this vehicle anymore. Did he sell it in 10 days? One of the problems right now is that, even if you like a vehicle, you may not be able to find one.
I was told by my local dealership the wait is over a year
Love mine for work so far!!
How many miles do you have on it?
I love mine.
I have the 2020 Ecosport SE 2.0 AWD and I notice a lot of carryover parts on this transit van. I think the 2.0 has plenty of power and its quick enough for passing and basically gets an 28mpg average for me. What I don't understand is the pricing on the transit. I think my ecosport was around $28k msrp and after rebates and negotiating I walked out the door with it at $21.5k all in. Base XL of the transit connect is now $35k and that is without awd, sun roof, heat seats, sync3, etc. Given cars have jumped in price the last two year but there just isn't enough value here at that price point.
But all the other prices have drastically gone up as well. I was looking at cars and basically decided to keep on driving my current ones.
I think these short vans (passanger) should be everywhere and (slide back doors) otherwise it's a crossover not a minivan
My Next Ford is Transit T350HDsonce I got 9 Grandkids looking to buy a 2019 or a 2020 from a Government Fleet Auction i have a 2021 Ford F150 Platinum with Powerboost and 2015 the First Model year with the Lariat 4x4 with 5.0 V8 and a 2017 Ford Explorer Sport with that
shocked they dont have corner bumper steps on rear like the pickups all do....
I bought one new last year, drove it for 6 months and then sold it for a profit (3k over sticker + taxes) 😂
Now i've got a brand new F150 powerboost
I’m driving one right now and I am weirded out. I don’t need all that cargo space in the trunk, it’s concerning.
The dash had me scratching my head for a few months. Finally it came to me the tach and the speedometer are on different sides, than I am use to.
they need an electric AWD version, next best thing beside the astro van.
Good luck getting one
Why
"It's also super inexpensive. 33 grand." I want this guy's day job... I was recently a passenger in one these vans, and I was impressed with its solidity, refinement and comfort for something so utilitarian. The driver had nothing but praise for it. It's the way minivans used to be, but a lot more modern. I would actually prefer this over the more expensive vans. The more money you spend, the higher your expectations are going to be. Something like this could more easily satisfy people. It could have represented back to basics values for unpretentious families, if marketed that way. According to wikipedia sales weren't very good, so Ford discontinued sales for North America after 2022. Is that true? I see 2023 models being advertised.
2023 is probably the final year. It’s 2024 and Ford’s website only has 2023 models in their builder. Stock is probably very limited too because a lot of people with disabilities use this van.
Wish you mentioned the tow rating since you pointed out the hitch.
The max is 2,000 lbs. I wouldn't remotely try to pull that much.
@@luperamos7307That's low but thanks.
I want one❤
Why did Ford build this ... i'ts the right vehicle for the times. Plenty of people space, all the features you need, and very likely will deliver about 30 mpg on the highway. Won't see 30 mpg on a Suburban type vehicle. Would love to see a hybrid model XLT in the short wheel base.
It’s like a euro van because it’s 6 inch narrower than most mini vans. Huge seller overseas. They even make it in manual transmission.
don"t say crazy Ben Hardy
I priced this on the website and it costs the same as a small truck from Toyota or Chevy. I don’t know man. The acceleration is pretty unappealing.
The trouble these days is automobile executives and designers listen to shitty reviews like this one then design cars to get reviews instead of listening to real life customers. They've damn near ruined Acura and Lexus with their over styling and unnecessary sports car features. Perfect example right here of a great car and a reviewer who should be out reviewing Mustangs and Camaros.
You nailed it! This is so true! 😆
PEOPLE NEED IT
FOR THEIR JOB'S,
DELIVERY'S
AND TO LIVE IN.
USA IS
DIEING.
6(25(2023 SUNDAY ✝️
Make total sense 😅
Wonde if they make an eco boost model
I believe it's a wagon. Not a van.
This guy has no idea how popular these are now for bug out and camping… I think he did this van a disfavor
People that don't work but have useless opinions vs People that need a small work van and there's literally nothing on the market.
Ford built a family van like it
"Other than than"...
4x4 only
Family 👪 Car 🚗
It feels like youre sitting in rear seat and driving 😂 crazy I personally don't like it at all.
These might as well be mythical creatures. Impossible to buy/find/order new. I wouldn't put seats in a cargo van.
slow down
Супер !
What a dinky/little display! What is that, 4"?!!!?!
Is this the Wagon & not the Van?
Socks
Why don`t Ford make something like seinna or odessy or even kia carnival. With this pace i give ford another 5 years and they will be done. These japanese and korean companies will devour ford very soon.
Why does this guy talk so fast. I can barely understand his intro.
Wow, what a crappy review! Yeah, that was a dinky display, they are bigger now, 2022s are now made with larger displays.
If you going to do a car review at least do some research on it before 🙄
How useful is a "review" that ends with a bunch of "I don't know, I don't know's"? WTF?
This is too basic for me
don't say the s word
Trashhhh tooo expensive
It's practical for delivery drivers.
Waste of time with his mush mouth. Can’t understand him.
U talk entirely too fast and mumble quite frequently. Food for thought my guy.
Ps this is NOT a cargo van, this is clearly a passenger van hence the rows of PASSENGER seats…. It even states “XLT Passenger” on the window sticker u referenced…I won’t mention how distasteful and unprofessional your sarcastic remarks regarding your description of said van, but I digress because like I said, not going to bring that up.
