An inquest into Jodey Whiting's death found the actions of the Department for Work and Pensions "triggered" the 42-year-old's death.
Joy Dove fought for eight years to expose the failings that led to her daughter taking her own life.

Vulnerable people are prime candidates for being coerced back into work.
Vulnerable people are at risk .
A friend of mine was told he was fit for work on his deathbed in hospital. IT's a nasty bullying environment. Those who know know. Those who don't know, won't get it till it happens to them.
Wez steeting yapping on about improved mental health and access. I am told basically I am too complex for the trusts cbt therapy. Only 6 sessions offered to majority of clients. I need a lot more. I have asked for this in writing but of course they word the lettering very different to cover themselves. It's all a load of rubbish. No true help available.
As in most organisations, these problems stem FROM THE TOP. The only way to fix these problems is to make top people PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for the acts of their incompetent and/or incompetent underlings.
That won't happen with two tier kier. Only the working classes receive harsh penalties the majority of the time.
The class system definitely exists well and truly in the UK.
My friend got pancreatic cancer & had to stop working, he was turned down too, he died 4 months later.
condolences to you mom . This is gross incompetence & I hope its rectified .
This case is written about in detail in the book The Department by John Pring, alongside accounts of other deaths. Good to hear of this ruling.
If people have chronic health issues that make it difficult for them to work and there is little prospect of them getting better, they really shouldn’t have to keep going for assessments. It’s incredibly stressful and demoralising. Most people want to work and be productive in society and have their own home etc, but it’s not possible if you are severely restricted from living a normal life due to illness.
These people should listen to doctors and health professionals and have some heart towards their fellow humans.
I've been coerced back into work on and off for about 7 years only to recently, due to AI, finding out I have an auto immune disease. A disease that COULD'VE been diagnosed since I was taken to the GP at 4, or when I went about 50 times during my twenties...I'm now 35...
The condition is hereditary and has disabled my sister, given my brother unnecessary open heart surgery as a child and ruined a grandparents entire 84 year existence. my mother is skipped over for promotion to head teacher from head of department due to the sick days it caused her, and I didn't have a social life throughout my 20s and early 30s, not to mention no stable career for the last 10 years
you should believe people when they say they can't work
Sad case. The DWP are far too cruel.
Focus should be on those who can work part time, to work a bit more. Rather than those who actually cannot work.
Ian duncan smith has a lot of blood on his hands, well at he got knighted for his savagery.
Absolutely and we also now have ( SIR ) Kier, but we must never forget the fact His father was a tool maker.
Yes indeed He was.
Labour in name only.
Totally agree and he is rewarded for it. Sick! Starmer is no better!
IM so sorry for this mother's lost no parent should have to go through this but this is going to keep happening I'll remember a man a black man who died years ago who suffered with mental health and who was thrown into a situation where the he had schizophrenia really bad schizophrenia and he just he couldn't work for other reasons and he died and I remember when they went in his property he had food 3 tins of beans I think called something like that cause I can't remember everything But he had food at as dusty and old he had no money and he had literally been just left to die alone and the family had to fight for justice and recognition Reckon what he was put through by the Job Centre he was left to suffer and many more will be suffering and many more people will lose their fight in life the Job Centre is failing people this government is killing people and we are all suffering
My son had his benefits stopped he had no money was on medication for epilepsy and other comditions he had no food his
Mum on benefits herself bought him food got herself i.to remt arrears tryimg to help its wrong how they just stop benefit leave vunerable people no way to pay bills rent food
This is happening to thousands up and down the country. We have gone backwards
Very sad to lose love 💕 ones
as the mother was disabled
she should not be force to work
Thanks a lot Keir Starmer…
This was 8 years ago...
@keifer7813 yes, thank you for pointing this out. This was under the Tories, but what is scary is that our so-called Labour government wants to do the EXACT SAME THING to disabled people claiming benefits.
Must be really hard going through life being as thick as you. I respect your determination child.
@LoyalUK”I respect your determination, child”
You missed a comma.
If you’re going to denigrate others, be absolutely certain to be perfect in your own delivery.
Not forgetting it was labour what broght assesments in the first place.
People are now waking up and have realised labour are LINO.
LABOUR IN NAME ONLY.@@DrT0705
Remember to give the labour the boot at the next general election. Theìr " new " reforms are unforgivable.
I did not vote labòur for such cruel reforms.
This is not a true labour government.

all these Benefit deaths going,Something got to change to get people in to Employment with out any one having to take their own lives over it,What else can happen,Put every one on Benefits,Then every one stays on Benefits and no one works,Then we be facing other problems,What a World we live in now days
It's quite simple. Instead of paying unqualified private companies to do assessments, GP's and medical personnel involved in treatments should always have more weight than someone ticking boxes on a form.
Your imagination may be getting the better of you.
What statistics have you seen that make you so certain of all this?
What sources are you getting your numbers from? Can you share them?
Who are you talking to that supports thoughts like these?
@@weirdscixif the gov don’t trust doctors, why should we?
@dalebenton That's not at all very helpful

Love you so much here in africa #paulmediatv
Scrounger in life, playing the victim in death. She could have tried working for a living 🤷♂️
not everyone is so simple they work their arses off just to stare at aeroplanes for a hobby

All her kids were adults when jodey took her own life, she was not claiming any benefits for any of her kids because they were all adults and left home, she was only claiming sick benefits for herself.
More click bait tory titles.
@@user-jambo-white so she was on the take then, scrounging rather than earning. No loss to anyone.
she had bipolar, pneumonia, curvature of the spine and a cyst on her brain, was basically housebound and couldn't breathe, she was cut off from her benefits because she missed an appointment because she was literally in hospital. you literally have absolutely no empathy or basic human feeling do you?
@@protectandsurvivelivinghis3206 There's always a sob story. From what you've described, it's hardly a loss to anyone.
