Every day I find new (to me) music that totally envelops me in its beauty. A couple of months ago I discovered Millionen Roizen and I can't listen to it often enough. It was immediately added to my playlist and has joined Azi Schwartz and Danny Aloni in my heart and mind. Without them all, my day seems joyless.

Was a million roses "adapted" from the yiddish tradition? I have read everything I could get hold of regarding the winning song of Latvia's 1981 song festival, but a Jewish background was never mentioned... If it is a Jewish melody it should be acknowledged, for this is one of the most beautiful melodies that is around.
"Dāvāja Māriņa meitenei mūžiņu" (English: Māriņa gave the girl life) is a Latvian song composed by Raimonds Pauls with lyrics by Leons Briedis. It was performed at the 1981 Mikrofona aptauja by Aija Kukule and Līga Kreicberga. The song is one of Pauls's most popular ones. It has been covered by several artists, most notably by Russian Alla Pugacheva in 1982 with lyrics by Andrei Voznesensky as "Миллион алых роз" (Million alykh roz, "Million Scarlet Roses").

Correctly, this song was a Latvian song not a Russian song. Jewish music .my favorite is one thousand roses version, with a calm and lovely sound. But no matter what language music is music...
@@hectororopeza617 as far as know, this song is written by a Soviet Latvian composer, Raimonds Pauls, and the lyrics, "A Million Red (or scarlet) Roses" (Миллион алых роз) was written by a Russian poet Andrei Voznesenski. Of course, it is possible that it was adapted from a Jewish melody, but I have not heard about and could not find evidence of it
Wikipedia says that the song is originally of Latvian origin. The most well known version is performed by the very famous Russian pop musician Alla Pugachyova, but there are some versions recreated for other languages. I would say that most Russian-speaking people have heard this song before. It is not a Jewish song, though.
