    What you said matches my experience, the s18 with molicel batteries has great power for the weight and is super nimble. Combined with the 18 inch tire it's great for bad city streets. There are unfortunately some caveats.
    The s18's suspension is very prone to dust ingress which will totally jam everything. And unless they fixed the quality control issues recently, the s18 molicel I got 2 years ago (basically a s18 pro) still had alignment issues with the sliders. It might seem smooth but the friction is there... I had to break out the dremel and modify the geometry of some parts to get everything sliding smoothly (for the most past). Now don't get me wrong, the suspension worked out of the box, but it wasn't nearly as good as what it should've been with good tolerances. Lots of stiction from the tubes not being aligned properly. Which brings us to point #2:
    The design is massively overcomplicated, making maintenance an absolute pain. There's like 6-7 different types of screws and way too many parts. A lot of the plastic parts are held on by flimsy thin plastic loops that can and will break if you're not super careful. Some build steps just suck and cleaning the suspension sliders/stanchions requires full disassembly. It's just really time consuming. And remember that the suspension is super finicky so if one thing is out of alignment or not tightened properly you get stiction. I say that as someone that's assembled/disassembled the s18 multiple times.
    The falcon seems much easier to work on in comparison. As for quality, well no idea, but it's a begode wheel lol...

    Tuning the suspension on the Falcon is PITA, but it’s a fun wheel that’s very compact and robust. I don’t like the trolley. Too low, and the hinge is going to bend when crashed. Needs rubber bumpers there. Perfect wheel for starting kids in forest trails, BMX tracks and skate parks. Good for urban freestyle too. Love that tire.
    The S18 pro is a new machine with jump knobs. After only one hour experience, I knew I will never go back. I haven’t figured out a power pads solution for that wheel yet, but the jump knobs alone are helping with emergency braking already.
    I ride in a dense urban area, and we have a lot of road works, potholes and speed bumps. With the jump pads I don’t have to slow down for those anymore.
    The Falcon is more nimble, but it doesn’t glide and float like the S18. They are very different wheels.

      I love my s18 hence why i have 2 of them. Its a wheel like no other being thin and light snd nimble for 18inch tire. No other wheel comes close. There is a s18 pro plus which i would buy but its only in eu market. The falcon is good, but doesnt justify the price. Theres alot of amenities s18 has over falcon, for such an old wheel too. The trolley is surprisingly good compared to s16pro. But s18 does have a better handle.

    Thanks for the reviews !
    Could you put the wheels really side by side for the next ones ? So we can really compare the size of them. Thanks :)

      Thats really kind !
      It's really hard to find a comparative of wheels sizes, so thanks again :)
      Have fun riding !

      @@notyou279 i'm the same way i like knowing the sizes of wheels compared to other wheels, because no one really compares them to other wheels when they do reviews

      Yeah see if you can get a deal, they are both great wheels. See if kingsong can ship u the s18 pro plus lol at a deal, that would be sweet. The s18 tire is a better tire overall

      @@kintips thanks!, which one have you found more durable and maintenance free? (using your old S18 vs Falcon as reference too)

    • @kintips
      @kintips  Місяць тому +1

      Durable is hard one to rate. Because look at the 16x its durable and made of plastic. The falcon is pretty durable If you keep the stock pads on as it provides cushion. The s18 is made of plastic and metal its not as durable as falcon, but the plastic is very easy to replace and parts are readily available. As for the falcon its made of metal and if you break or bend the metal you need to be a welder to fix it. As for maintenance i havent done any maintenance on any of my wheels lol shy of checking tire pressure and charging the wheel. I do clean my wheel from dust, i dont ride in rain so nothing really builds up
      Do you do any maintenance on your 16x? That wheel is a beast smooth and reliable

      Thanks for the info, nothing yet on the maintenance side (except for cleaning and keeping the tire pressure correct, but i only have ~3000 km on my 16xs (its a lower model of the 16x)

      @kintips  Місяць тому

      3k is quite a bit of mileage. Yeah the 16x is quite a smooth ride even without suspension

    I would probably go for the S18 Pro if good power pads could fit on this wheel...But due to its open structure, S18 is probably the worst wheel for power pads. To me, a wheel where you can't put power pads is not a good wheel, anyway not a wheel for me.
    I can see that you ride your S18 Pro without power pads. Personnaly, I can't. I mean I can but I hate that. I assume you don't know of any real good power pads for the S18 ?

    • @kintips
      @kintips  Місяць тому

      Well you can add velcro to add power pads, but i think youre right its not the best for power pads, but people have done it before.
      They do have pads for s18 www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1526023435/flow-pad-like-pads-electric-unicycle?gpla=1&gao=1&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_fq0y-jhiQMV1BWtBh1dsxGpEAQYASABEgJr6fD_BwE

      I put powerpads on my s18, made by a company called Northpads specifically for the s18. Amazing quality, truly a game changer I could never go back. Bot sure if they still make this model but it's 100% worth it of they do.
