It's so true..as a Muslim sister In my travels meeting "other"Muslims or in Ummah.....they all want to recorrect me how I do Salah......and each have let me know...that there way is best and correct method as no other!....so depending which people I'm with praying I usually adapt to each way to save myself from all there corrective behavior!but sometimes I forget or when visiting let's say a Bengali Muslims or types of Arab's....and they all have variations....I've also traveled abroad and it's a real mind felid of nuance's....such as how I should point or encircle my point or looking right to left with head more or less down or straight right or left over shoulder ....well the nuance's goes on and on like this!

This story sounds similar to the “7 Sleepers of Ephesus” by the Syriac Christians in the 5th century or so.

It is that story. Its about the 7 sleepers of the roman emperor who persecuted Christians during the Roman Pagan time.
I pray to Allah to bless me with sleep to eternity and beyond.

brother visit a mosque and ask someone over there. You will be surprised by how much love you will receive inshallah. Update us after you visit lol.
Do you believe in God, the angels and revelations God sent? Do you believe in angels and the unseen things and prophecy? Heaven and Hell are real. Do you believe Jesus is a servant and prophet of God? And Muhammad is God's messenger and the final messenger to be sent? Do you know about pre destiny? If you understand all this and agree, then you're ready.
Just take a shower and go to a masjid/mosque and take shahadah. Make the ablutions too and ask about all this in detail. We have to have ritual purity to pray and touch the Arabic Quran. Allah/God guide you.

Can someone translate what Mufti Menk says in Arabic in the beginning?
What he says in English right after is the translation.
May be a slip of tongue or misunderstanding.. The story is not mentioned either in old or new testaments as Mufti said @16:38 The story time line is actually a much later period around to 1st and 3rd centuries. Other contexts like the dispute among the jews or people of Madina about it are true..
why there are so many ads
In verse 25 of sura alkahf of the Quran Allah emphasizes on the addition of 9. The question remains why? Why 9 years more then 300 years? Both numbers would be sufficient years to conclude that Allah swt protected them this period of time against the people and natural dangers.

Every detail is important yes explanation on hairstyle really is not a comparison, the dog was part of the group that slept in the cave the dog guarded the entrance, it is mentioned in The Quran as it IS as important as every other single word written in the holy book, hence the ignorance goes on

That kind of belief is no different than Christians who believe that Jesus is literally the son of God, which Muslim don't believe and criticize Christians for believing. There is nothing wrong with belief, but when belief is based on ignorance this is what happens.
My point is that both Muslims and Christians have some beliefs that are based on ignorance, the Muft sounds great at reciting poetry, but is understanding of what the story means is severely lacking.
I don't think that the verses u mentioned are literal, e.g you said that Allah subhanawatala protected them from the sun, their body were preserved. meaning they didn't need further protection of bugs, etc; (because Allah shnwtala preserved their bodies) then you said that you would be scared if you see them. So therefore I realize that if their bodies are well preserved by Allah, then why we should be scared of them?....300 hundred years with a silent??....must be of a different meaning, but Allah subhanawala knows the best
If someone open there eyes and sleep..and if we watch..them.. obviously we ll get scared..more over protection is a different point..like they couldn't realize day and night..they wer protected from community,sun rise and sunset

Most probably this incident happened at the time of the Roman Emperor Diocletian before the advent of Prophet Muhammad, pbuh.

Mufti Menk should just say 300 years instead of 309. Because we should al know that were talking about lunar, when reading quran.

The source of this story is from prophet jacob
Which was a real story of an unknown place of an unknown event
But the roman empire recreated this event into a full book story
Which is very unrealistic but quran talk about the same information of prophet jacob as there are very less details because quran is not telling the story but god present this event as an example

In revolt against the Romanisation/paganisation of Christianity, they went on self-exile. In the evening, they stopped by to rest in a cave, then fell asleep. The Roman Caesar forced the monotheists of the time to give Isa/Yishua the name of a Greeko-Roman oracle, 'Jesus'; and 'Ilah' to be renamed after a Greek idol, 'God'; the day of worship to be moved from the Sabbath to the day Romans worshipped the 'Sun-god', Sun day; to give Yishua the character of Mithra the son of the 'Sun God' (🌞 marked with this symbol all over Roman cities), and to elevate him to the status of a God in trinity, as a partner to Almighty God; to adopt the doctrine of blood atonement for sins, which was the Roman way of repentance (by appeasing the gods with a sacrificial goat, lamb or human (scapegoat)); to retain pagan festivities like the birthday of Mithra the son of the Sun-god (25th December). Christian priests that rejected the fusion of Christianity with Roman paganism were executed at the stake. The Roman governor in that city (Turkey was part of the Roman Empire) gave the seven youths an option to rethink their stand and report to him the next day, then they escaped on exile. They were most likely from the privileged class, else they would be executed at first instance. Later those adulterations and more, were adopted in the Roman-canonized gospels during the First and Second Councils of Nicea starting from 325 AD. Caesar Constantine personally presided over the council. Rome became 'Christian' Rome (today's Europe), and it colonized the world, giving the world its own (adulterated) version of Christianity, and the Bible, and all.
This cave exactly fits Allah's description of sun rays coming into the cave at sunrise through the east corridor and at sunset through the western corridor.
