Hi, great video, really helpful thanks! But what if the guitar has no central wooden block running through it? Would you have to take a different approach when screwing the Bigsby into the top of the guitar?
I just got one of those Chinese “Bigsbys” for my ES-335 and there were no felt pads on the bottom. Should I add a couple? I’m planning to leave it on, I’m not using a vibramate.
good idea..checking 1st d guitar with a string if endpin is centered before buying B7 type trem., if not, best is B5 (horse shoe type trem). not even original bigsby package is complete. it shld have an adaptor in d package for d mechanisn so drlling is not necessarily applied w/c i dont like doing to my guitar. Adaptors for B7 & horse shoe type is sold separately, go to sweetwater or amazom, search vibrato mounting. i have ordered coz im having my les paul modified by a luthier
i bought a bigsby from ebay not exactly a bigsby for a electric guitar i made. had 2 adjust the neck and all. i like it but that spring makes so tight it seemed to long? so for now i put in between to boards and parked my car on it. to let it set for a day/ hopefully that will work.
I see that you have changed the tunners. Which one's did you used? And, did you have to drill some holes? Cause I'm thinking of changing the default Grover deluxe the guitar came with for some Grover "Milk Bottle" 102 Rotomatic tunners.
Hi youtuber .I gotta a question .For the brigde can that sort fit on a LP hollow body shaped guitar .And my second question is What type of paint do you use for example do i use industrial or Automotive or ???? and what is the protection coat to use before the guitar gets painted .
Patricio Parada Hi, I just purchased a Casino and want to install a B70 Bigsby. How much drilling did you have to do? I am a bit concerned about damaging my guitar. Cheers
Alan Ross Hi Alan. Honestly, you're never going to match a color perfectly and then blend into that factory clear poly finish. Even if your color is perfect, you'll end up with witness lines in the clear. I'd recommend getting a little creative and make it truly your own. Racing Stripes? Cool stickers? Or fill with mahogany plugs (not end grain) and leave them raw? Hope that helps?
Rock Rabbit Guitars Alan Ross the "custom made" plaque is usually placed over the holes, But I've seen people place MOP/Abalone dots, Wood inserts, and even Rock of various sorts. My personal Favorite is to use a single roller Bigsby and install a Towner Tension bar (screws right into the tailpiece stud holes.) .
Hey Sam, been thinking about how to answer this one...Yes, I think the sustain is different, but it's like asking how much less chocolately Rocky Road ice cream tastes than the Double Truffle. Less chocolate, for sure, but Rocky Road brings its own flavor to the table. If you dig that flavor, then enjoy!
I do like chocolate. So you kinda mean the sustain is just different, some prefer the bigsby and some prefer the hard tail? What about the duration of the sustain in general? Can a single high note ring for a good 5 seconds like the hard tail offers?
The Bigsby you chose will also influence the sustain of the instrument. A Bigsby B6 doesn't have a push-down bar, so the strings hit the bridge at a different angle.
you dó see that without the mounting plate that just screws in place of the tailpiece(no drilling) the strings take an incedible dive down from the bridge right? that means that when you use the whammy it makes it go out of tune like crazy...this is NOT the right way to install a bigsby.
Actually on a 339 they aren't. They raise the strap button just above center to reduce neck dive, because the 339 body is lighter then a Les Paul or 335. With the weight of the bigsby having it centered will not be a problem with neck dive. Every 339 Gibson or Epiphone has always had the button that way.
This guitar will not stay in tune with a fixed bridge : you have to have a roller bridge or a bridge which has the abbility to tilt a tiny bit forward and backward .
Here's an abbreviated version. Take the B70, put it back in its box, and go back to the store and pay the little extra for a proper American-made B7. Those imported "licensed" Bigsby are absolute garbage. They never come back to pitch and mess up your tuning forever.
Je possède deux Les Paul équipées avec des B70 et une autre avec un B700 , toutes fonctionnent très bien , montées avec perçage , je préfère des trous plutôt que ce vibramate très moche .
Hi, strange question but does anyone ever put a Bigsby on a strat ? Before anyone jumps on me ,I'm a drummer not a guitarist ,just writing a song about a strat and I want it technically correct because I've never seen one on a strat. I think I have answered my own question. Just like confirmation . Peace.
There is no vibramate that fits a B70 bigsby. Because they only fit the US made bigsbys, eg, the B7. There is also no vibramate that fits a 339, and a B7 bigsby. You can get one for a B5, for a 339, but B5s don't look as good
Well there goes another guitar being butchered. Use a Vibramate no holes are necessary. Or use another twang bar like DUESENBERG . Great design looks neat and NO HOLES. They make great guitars too ask Joe Walsh he'll tell you. You've ruined a good guitar. You must have fluked the alignment.
Man, that green finish is beautiful.. I've never even look at a green guitar.. but that is just stunning
LOL "The human eye is incredibly accurate for detecting straight lines" -- says none of the people after hanging up shelves without a level.
I have CSR in my left eye and all straight lines are wavy now because of it. Soooooooooooooo yea, hahah
I get the LOL but in fact, he is absolutely correct.
what about using a vibramate and the bigsby b7?, will that do the trick without drilling? and maybe hide the tail piece holes
What about the ground wire in the stop tail? since it's getting plugged, do you move it to the bridge stud?
Hi, great video, really helpful thanks! But what if the guitar has no central wooden block running through it? Would you have to take a different approach when screwing the Bigsby into the top of the guitar?
What you did with ground wire in right hole? Previously it been attached to a old bridge screw, how it now?
Great video. I'm in the process of installing a Bigsby B6 on a Dean Palomino I just picked up.
Awesome tutorial @rockrabbitguitars love the colour, gibson must think so too for their 2015 line up..
I have it coming Monday. This helps.Vibramate will be good.
WHY WOULD YOU NOT SWITCH TO A ROLLER BRIDGE ?
for the "casino" (there's no "LOG" in the middle): what's the solution?
You can use the vibramate v7 kit, it will allow you to install a bigsby without drilling any hole.
how? :D

This was actually really handy! Thanks!
Jarod Gallant Cheers!
That was very helpful, Thank you.
you're gonna paint that beauty pea soup green? pls don't.
the earth pole, how did you mention it?

Question: If I install a Bigsby on my Epiphone Sheraton, will it still fit into my original Epi guitar case?
Thanks for the great how to! Hey, you may want to purchase a StringRay to re-string that beauty. It makes it easy!
Hello! I know this is probably a stupid question but can I fit that on a Gretsch G2622 streamliner?
Great guide!
were you going for the Chris Cornell sig 335 look with that guitar? because itll look a lot like it after your mods.

It worked like a charm. Thanks for this video. Now my cherry Casino looks awesome with its new Bigsby
Patricio Parada Hi, I just purchased a Casino and want to install a B70 Bigsby. How much drilling did you have to do? I am a bit concerned about damaging my guitar. Cheers
what about the large hole in the body left from removing the tailpiece studs? How will you refill them?
This answers that question, checkout TOWNER's BIGSBY retrofits townerusa.com
If you are keeping the finish what do you do with the two holes left by the old tail piece.

Hey! Was just wondering will sanding hurt the sound of the guitar?
hey, can I install/do this procedure to Gibson Les paul Standard HP? 😊 thanks!
DONT! Checkout TOWNER's BIGSBY retrofits townerusa.com
This is cool :) Thanks for the upload. I think about replacing my ibanez thing with one too. But I need to first look up if it will work.
Cheers!
Hey, im just wondering, how much does the tremolo hurt the sustain? Compared to the hardtail
Hey Sam, been thinking about how to answer this one...Yes, I think the sustain is different, but it's like asking how much less chocolately Rocky Road ice cream tastes than the Double Truffle. +Rock Rabbit Guitars how did you take out the steel mounings for the screws that hold in the tail piece?
in lespaul is similar?
Why does/should the hole for the strap button have to be at the center line of the guitar?
TimBee100 that's just a stupid question...
TimBee100 because the strap button screw has to go through a hole on the bigsby, which has to be positioned properly on the guitar.

Why would you drill the holes when vibermate has solved that problem?
the vibramate apparently only fits the bigsby b7 so no solutions for us with low budgets 😂
@@keski56 I believe vibermate does makes their systems for every bigsby model
Very good but I don't like the hole that you see under the bigsby
you just left the holes unfilled....
Get a Gibson ES. Betcha that strap hole lines up perfectly. My LPs button hole couldnt be more accurately aligned 100%.

That green..
why not use the video mate uses the post holes from stop bar no drilling what so ever and looks good
good vid by the way keep up the vids good channel
Because there isn't a vibramate that fits a B7 or B70, on a 339
No such thing as a Bigsby TREM, it's a true Vibrato.
I get the LOL but in fact, he is absolutely correct.

Good instructional video even if the final color looks like dog diahrreah.
Buy the American made B7 instead of the Korean version B70 which has no roller bearings.
Here's an abbreviated version. Take the B70, put it back in its box, and go back to the store and pay the little extra for a proper American-made B7.

Strats come with their own tremolo system
Daniel Reily yes some people have attached bigsbys to hard tail strats, however most strats come with their own tremolo system 👍🏻👍🏻
You shouldn’t have to drill anything. There is a kit that uses the existing holes to mount to.
Oui mais c'est moins beau !
Ha ha a caliper to measure for.a.drill.bit grab a.drill bit just a bit amaller then the screw and drill.the pilot hole!!
you guys and your calipers...lol
PLEASE FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need new glasses after watching this video.
Why that color💩
it's the same color as the late Chris Cornell's signature 335
William Allison no his was army green much better than this shit
hesus my eyes, this blurry vid should be in trash
the moment he started to drill..i moved to another channel. kbye.
That's what you gotta do in order to update that guitar. A lot of good guitarists do this, as long as it fits them, it's good.

Um, that's how you attach a bigsby. If you don't want to drill your guitar, don't get a bigsby.
