Delicious! I just bought the 2023 edition and the 4 Islay expressions are wonderful blended together!! Fabulous! I paid $115 Canadian and for the quality and general prices of scotch these days it’s good value to me!! Great video!! Cheers!! Happy New Year!!
Tough call. Big Peat is more rounded experience. Like a snap shot of Islay. The Laddie is an incredible dram in its own right and delivers a slightly different experience, a bit more luxury
You're pretty much selling this to me! I'm kinda scared of the peat monsters, but take out the medicinal notes and the like, and I get on with them ok. Some have pleasantly surprised me and some have just downright repulsed me. It's a fine line!
Would this be good for a first Pete. I'm about a year in and maybe 13 different scotches. It's been only whiskey's till last year when I tried glen-something 12. Changed everything
We did one of the Christmas editions recently. I was very positively surprised🙂 It has the same wide variety of peaty flavors you describe. Great review👍
A great blend. The presentation/label don't do it any favours I don't think - which is a shame cause it shouldn't be overlooked! Some of the high ABV Christmas editions are great too.
@@NoNonsenseWhisky I'll have a look over ur other reviews, I've got a few on my shortlist. Was thinking rock oyster cask strength before it goes off sale though since I liked the rock oyster regular last year.
A bit late to the review, but it was good. The Remarkable Regional Malt I get Bowmore's signature, which to me is violety-peat, is the Rock Oyster. When drinking Bowmore on its own, the violet note can become a bit much for me, especially toward the bottle of the bottle. But, for what it's worth, I actually prefer the Rock Oyster to the Big Peat. Not saying Big Peat isn't good, though. My favorite of the base series is Timorous Beastie. I could sit and smell that one for an hour. The aged versions I've tried are, as Roy (Aqvavitae) is fond of saying, fantastic! Looking forward to the next one.
Cheers Daniel. I can’t decide if I like the rock oyster or timorous beastie the best. It maybe that I’ve managed to try some of the aged expressions on rock oyster that is swaying me though. All 5 are good in their own rights though, just the epicurean seems to lack something for me

DL do a fabulous job of these Core bottlings!
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Yes!! Agreed! Cheers!
I’m so glad to find this fantastic video!
"This is an ejoyed by the bonfire dram!" Thats it im sold, look forward to some of this.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
Nice review, Vin. Always enjoy a drop or two of Big Peat. Cheers!
Cheers Scott. It's certainly something I'd be keen to have around a lot!
Sounds good, would it compare to the Bruichladdich Scottish Barley Heavily peated Vin ?..

@@NoNonsenseWhisky might grab a bottle just for the hell of it...lol and maybe the Scallywag as well

At the price it goes for, I reckon it's worth a shot!
Love the channel, what’s your favourite peat whiskey? Fairly new to Whiskey but want to get into my peat Whiskey. Cheers
Cheers!
For starters, I'd get the standard big peat. That's lovely. I really like the Laphroaig Quarter Cask, but it's a big ash TCP dram.
@@NoNonsenseWhisky thank you I’m on it Cheers

I say it’s not the ideal peat starter. For that you want to be trying some lightly peated like an Ardmore Legacy then move on

The Christmas ones are great. The extra abv is well received by me that's for sure
Great review!
Cheers 🥃🥃
Another good review, cheers buddy 👍
Thanks ! Appreciate that! 🥃🥃
I like the stuff found it pretty peppery too.
Definitely got a nice zing to it. Some of the age statement ones are a little more mellow
TY Brooooooooooo!
Got myself the Cristmass edition , great review, wish to try the 25 yo
The Xmas editions are real nice. I'd love to try it too. Maybe I can get DL to send me some 🤣
@@NoNonsenseWhisky They are not so expensive about 50 guid
You're right, and you're getting a lot for your money

It does get a little overlooked doesn't it! Hopefully I've convinced a handful of people to give it a go now
Good review, when i done mine (dare i say it) think it has become my favorite! It is damn good.
I haven't found anyone that said it wasn't good yet 👌
I don't think you will (well my wife wasn't overly pleased with it. but she is not keen on whisky, so it doesn't count). Power to the blends!
Hahaha to be fair mine didn't like it either. She can drink a dram but really hates the peat
You said pepper? I’m sold lol pepper and peat is wonderful to me.
Yeah definitely some kind of peppery spiciness going on in there
Doing the 2019 Xmas Big Peat?
I'm not sure at the moment. Probably not as I'm already over budget but if the opportunity presents itself then I'll do it

A great bottle!!!
You got it!
Not the biggest peat fan, but I do love a good pun. Peating around the bush indeed!
You'll be liking my new sigh then! Coming up with a new pun each time is hard though

First! Watching it now. Been tempted to get a bottle of this. Tell me how it is Vin!
Big Peat is $60 a bottle in Chicago.
Cheers tom. Hopefully you ended up well informed! That's a little expensive though
