The blue silk cowl is just gorgeous! I love that you rescued yarn. I have a story for you. I was at the library yesterday and was telling a helper that I had to go buy more yarn because I don't have quite enough yarn to finish an afghan. Another patron overheard our conversation and said, "Oh, do you watch Lesley in the UK on UA-cam?" The 3 of us then commenced to sing your praises. What a small world! My Christmas cactus used to bloom Christmas and Easter time. And one of our Poinsettias is still healthy and blooming away. I love your sweater and your cowl.

That's what my sister and I call our drop and shop. We load up the car, pull up around back and 'drop' it all off, then pull around front and park and go shopping.

LOL Your phone totally got me! When it went off, I grabbed my phone and was confused that no one was texting me! Thank you for saying "excuse my phone" because that stopped me from about 15 minutes of going through everything making sure I didn't miss something! hahahahaha

Hi Leslie. Love that cowl! I have several lace weight balls of yarn looking for something to become. That might be the ticket! I once had a confused Christmas Cactus that bloomed on US Thanksgiving in November and on Easter but NOT on Christmas! As you say, it’s nice to have blossoms whenever it happens. Thanks for your episode!

Hiya - I knew that there was a "thanksgiving cactus" - it's just strange as we've had the plant about eight years, and this is the first time we've had the spring flowering - very pretty, so not complaining! Thanks and take care xx
My Christmas cactus is doing the same as yours. Seems to bloom at Easter and Christmas every year.

I'm so glad you helped the charity shop clear out some merchandise. What a good soul you are! You're silk cowl is gorgeous. And we've had a wacky Christmas cactus at work that has bloomed a couple of times in February and March. I haven't yet shared my condolences on the passing of your dad. I hope you find peace in wonderful memories.

Went to see Peter Kay on Saturday, hilarious but lost my glasses. So apologies for any spelling mistakes.
Can't knit or crochet without them but probably wouldn't be doing much as finger, thumbs and wrists all swollen. Had to send one of our granddaughters a bought present with an iou for her madegift.
Also meant to have gone to the theatre yesterday. Got the slightly delayed train. Three stops further on they terminated the train. So we caught the next one back! Not getting stuck in Manchester with aloud of commuters all trying to at home.
So we Had an extra visit to Mum.
Gutted though as we purchased the ticket almost 18months ago. Pretty Woman sadly not to be.

Oh, you should have heard me when you pulled up the first cone!! Then you add a bog full of yarn…….oh, my!! At least your at attempting to use it up. I hope there is enough for the entire cardigan you are planning, what a unique thing that would be!! Loved seeing you. I want to find some thrift r shops when I visit London this year!! I tried to find some in Italy but no one understood what I was speaking about. Must have been saying the wrong terms.
They were so pretty, I had to!
You'll have to look for charity shops (they are never called thrift stores here) - usually the name of the charity (Oxfam, Cancer Research, Save the Children, or the local hospice or cat rescue centre) is the name of the shop. Good to go hunting for them in a well-to-do area, as that's usually where the good stuff is found! xx

No excuses necessary for rescuing pretty yarn at fabulous prices. Pretty sure we would've worried there was something wrong with you if you'd left it behind. 🤣 Anyway, everyone knows sock yarn doesn't count as stash. (Says the woman who's currently drowning in the stuff.)

There are actually 3 types of cacti. Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving
The leaves are all different shapes on the ends

It is probably an Easter cactus. If you received it around Christmas, it may mean it was held back to bloom at Christmas, but really wants to bloom earlier.
Hi. It's bloomed at Christmas before, and was originally a gift received around September time! Strange that it has a new idea this year, but it keeps things interesting! Thanks and all the best xx
Lovely to see you, Charity shop wools are kryptonite! The Cowl is so pretty. Can I suggest you boost your Vit D. We had Covid in early Feb, for the first time thankfully, and were totally wiped out. We went to Dr in fear of long Covid, and discovered our Vit D levels previously 80+ were now in low 20's seems the virus soaks it up...on 5000 iu s a day as we more ample ladies absorb it much slower hence need higher regular doses, as opposed to dh who is taking 50,000ius a week , (for 3 months). Just a suggestion but it's helping us slready.

Oh dear that probably only has 400iu of vit D not enough to correct deficiency.
I know iy's hard to get Vit D levels checked by your gp, but if you can it's a good start. Note Vit D in foods alone with UK weather(lack of good sun) may not suffice for deficency.I only add this as I yhought the same until our rude awakening.

Hello Leslie. Of course you had to buy the yarn! I couldn’t pass up a bargain on sock yarn. That’s why I usually go thrift store shopping on my own. My sisters and 90% of my friends would just question whether I actually needed more yarn if I came upon such treasures. 🌸🧶
