She had just plain had ENOUGH! Orcas have large brains, are meant to roam the oceans for miles and miles, communicating with their pack, and then they are put in a little tank, their food is withheld so they will perform for food, no wonder they get angry and want to retaliate! What was done to them is a very sad form of animal cruelty.
even after a near-death experience, instead of being humbled down man, known to be the most intelligent among creations, still has the audacity to be arrogant about it smh...
Interesting that they didn’t mention that this particular whale had attacked twice before including biting this trainer and since she gave birth they had observed aggressive behaviour increasing.....yet he still jumped into the water with her? That said his ability to stay calm in this kind of situation was absolutely phenomenal!
Yes but Kasaka did never get aggressive without a reason. They are preditors and she was a Transit orca. They put her from park to park to use her as baby machine and forced her to leave her calfs. In the wild orcas only get calfs with 15 years and only all 5 years. If they would not have forced her to get a calf every 2 or 3 years, maybe she would still live. The normal lifespan is 80 years for females and 60 for males or more.
Orcas play with seals before they eat them. They play with them for hours. Thrashing and tossing them around. Their favorite are baby seals because they have the least survival experience and are the easiest to play with.
I don't think the whales should be in captivity, but when a trainer is in trouble being attacked why not have a stun gun on a long pole to get them to stop? I don't know if this would work, but they have no plan at all except to splash the top of the water with there hands to get the whale to stop.
I'm tempted to think the worst thing you could do is anything that might excite an already agitated orca. They live with sensory deprivation and are under stimulated day in and out so suddenly having a trainer screaming and thrashing about must be like a highly interactive toy and make them worse. Most natural thing in the world must be to panic, kick and scream I can't imagine what it must feel like but wonder if the trainers not doing anything (at Ken Peter's instruction) is what made her finally let him go. Same when Steve Abel was faced with a major case of Orca zoomies at Texas. At one point he was very nearly out of the water using poles the trainers had to help pull him clear but was grabbed and pulled again at some force only letting Steve go after he did exactly the time and just stayed cool and stroked and calmed the orca down. A lot of the orca are reported to resource guard and will not give up toys to trainers and stay in the middle of the pool so nobody will take it off them. Wonder if an emergency distraction in the form of something they have never seen before might make them let go of a trainer to investigate that instead which sounds contradictory I know but when the orca pulled "Tamari" in the pool the other two got in on it and looked increasingly excited at her frantic screaming and trying to get out but stopped the second they thought Kasatka was coming in.
your suggested response may save a trainer or two, but it reinforces the notion that these beautiful and majestic creatures are to be punished if they don’t behave in their ridiculous water prisons for our entertainment. No, let a trainer or two pay the real price for this hellish imprisonment which humiliates and makes a mockery of the ocean’s wonders. Seaworld belongs forever closed.
My opinion is number one, the music is so loud and I am sure it's agitating to the whale's. Number two, people screaming and yelling is another agitation. Three, not being fed unless they perform correctly. Four tearing apart families. Finally, not enough water, or space for them to be happy. I mean come on. How is this place still open? Sad, sad.
Ken Peter's saved himself. He was calm with the mother Orca. Plus Peters is a SCUBA diver and may be able to hold his breath longer than the average person.
I've been to the dolphin and orca show. There is really no real reason for the trainers to be IN the water with the whales, they are carnivores despite being so smart and trainable... would you swim with trained sharks? The show is still worth watching without them in the water, They still swim with dolphins and to be fair there have been several documented cased where untrained dolphins have actually saved drowning humans. I've paid to swim with dolphins at discovery cove in very deep dark water and honestly I felt safer holding on to him than I would have felt had I been in that man-made death pond alone, as for getting in there with a freaking killer ...you couldn't PAY ME
These are sentient, very intelligent WILD animals that are basically captives of their own attributes; charming trainable smarts and gentle curious respectful treatment of humans (in natural cases). Domesticated animals with seemingly compliant disposition (but usually less workable intelligence) have been selected for this many thousands of years? WTF don't understand why Seaworld doesn't just invest in some VR or cgi experiences; seems like way more potential there (closer up, more interactive), more humane, more educational and far less expensive ultimately. Have a learning center with wildlife vids or maybe even interactive led drones (by trained monitors) in at least a sea-pen (for captives who cant be released). The current trainers could be still employed and involved in /on many stages of an entertainment style transition; whatever figure out something, anything better
This is what happens when whales are kept in captivity. I think that the whale must have liked Mr. Peters and that it helped that he stayed calm and not exciteing the animal.. I also think that every new trainer should have to watch this video before being hired or even getting near the killer whales. I'm sure that he had a different outlook on life after this attack cause his life could have ended at any moment.
Went to sea world as a kid but never really liked it. It just seemed unreal and I got bored by it. All the happy talk and yelling and the yays, it seemed like they were treating the animals and audience like little kids. Of course I didn't realize the animals were virtual slaves.
These whale's are smart there only trying to tell these people that they have had enough of there bulshit. That's why they attack. I wish they would do the that every time the trainers get in the water. I bet then and only then will the owners of see world would let them go. And why is it if I leave a dog tied up in the heat or in the cold I will get locked up for animal abuse but these people can do this to animals. By the way I have never done that to a animal but have heard of plenty of cases where people have been in trouble for that
Super intelligent....she wanted a trade for her kid....she was using her version of sign language....knowing that the hu.ans are smart enough to figure out why she grabbed this guy! She felt it was in their power to show some compassion and bring her to her kid......or else. Very intelligent.
Wtf is wrong with that lawyer? "Many deaths have happened in captivity but the shows are more spectacular with the trainers in the water so it's justified" like if you think that you deserve to get in the water with a killer whale and dragged by your feet.
My grand mother and father lived on fox island washington in puget sound from 1916 to 1926. Orcas where always present and she told me stories about them and they were only called black fish at the time. The only way to the island was by launch and the people had a healthy fear of them as they had seen them devour seals many times.
They are meant to be in the wild not a little skimpy pool getting stressed out, no wonder why the whale🐳 held onto him hearing her calf crying out to her
Here's an idea leave them in the wild where they belong how bloody cruel when her calf needs her broken foot? aww what shame not really serves them right these places need closing
Its just shows how dangerous the killer whales are they shouldn't be kept in captivity his just lucky to go offshore and eacape. He could have been killed.
The safest procedure of all: KEEP THE WHALES IN THE SEA, WHERE THEY BELONG.

@Jill S By any means necessary.
yes. Close Seaworld and throw the animals into an unfamiliar environment that would stress them greatly.
SeaWorld should be a eating place and theme park.. no water activity with poor families(Whales etc)
Any mother would do the same. Showing disdain until you are reunited with your offspring is not a faulty act but rather an admiral one if left to exist by ones own nature......just a thought.
Empty the tanks NOW!
Far more spectacular??? Would then be spectacular to continue watching trainers get killed? Shame in you
This should be stopped immediately. They are wild animals and unpredictable. I don't care how experienced the trainers are. Unbelievable. I feel bad for both they should not be kept in captivity. End of story.
That's what happens when a being/species is forced to live outside and against what is natural to and for them!
There called "killer" whales for a reason
I AM SO SAD FOR THE WHALES .I WOULDN`T GO TO SEAWORLD NEVER .
"Let's face it, it's much more spectacular..." SHAME ON YOU
even after a near-death experience, instead of being humbled down man, known to be the most intelligent among creations, still has the audacity to be arrogant about it smh...
From what i have heard, that same day her child was taken away from her. Imagine being a mother, and your child getting taken away from you...
Trainers should not be allowed in the water.
Free the whales, stop going to SeaWorld
Orcas play with seals before they eat them. They play with them for hours. Thrashing and tossing them around. Their favorite are baby seals because they have the least survival experience and are the easiest to play with.
Respect wild animals..
Thanks...but no tanks!!!
She was making a point.
Grandma: Aw look. The cute little fishie’s playing.
Kid:(screaming in horror)
Could you imagine being kept in a tank all your life never having any freedom?
Disgusting.
Shut the place down.let all the whales go free.to dangerous.
#DONTBUYATICKET
#EMPTYTHETANKS
Corporate ! We're all ginnypigs.
They shouldn’t be in Bath tubs to begin with.
Seems like common sense to me when you pent up a large and beautiful creature well it has its limits
He didn’t free his foot, she let him go😅
The actual meaning to his arrogant response, "Let's face it, it's far more entertaining when we profit."
Dawn ‘s parents were my scuba instructors, at the Hawaii y mca,, Frost. Mr.mrs.
Can you imagine being a captive Orca, stripped of your freedom by ugly humans
I took the family to Sea World in 1987, I’m now ashamed of myself.
Rip kasatka :(
He should buy a lottery ticket.
Her daughter....My Daughter!
that whale was like “ okay you can breathe “
My opinion is number one, the music is so loud and I am sure it's agitating to the whale's. Number two, people screaming and yelling is another agitation. Three, not being fed unless they perform correctly. Four tearing apart families. Finally, not enough water, or space for them to be happy. I mean come on. How is this place still open? Sad, sad.
Unfortunately, SeaWorld's Orca's are unable to bring harm to the right individuals. Clearly, they need help.
I've paid to swim with dolphins at discovery cove in very deep dark water and honestly I felt safer holding on to him than I would have felt had I been in that man-made death pond alone, as for getting in there with a freaking killer ...you couldn't PAY ME
Y’all should shut the whale show down and only have a dolphins with a big place
Tourist attractions without animals are sick enough.
Close the show down & help the whales adapt back to their natural environment.
ELE TINHA Q MORRER..... ABUSAR DE UM ANIMAL INDEFESO.... PRESAS EM TANQUES NÃO COMPATÍVEIS COM SUA POSTURA, É TERRÍVEL !!!!!
I hate sea world and it's cruelty toward these magnificent creatures.
They should close all the sea worlds
This is what happens when whales are kept in captivity. I think that the whale must have liked Mr. Peters and that it helped that he stayed calm and not exciteing the animal.. I also think that every new trainer should have to watch this video before being hired or even getting near the killer whales. I'm sure that he had a different outlook on life after this attack cause his life could have ended at any moment.
Close seaworld
Whales are not meant to be in captivity. So don't blame them for how they act
they dont call them killer whales for nothing
He was known to be dangerous !!!
Went to sea world as a kid but never really liked it. It just seemed unreal and I got bored by it. All the happy talk and yelling and the yays, it seemed like they were treating the animals and audience like little kids. Of course I didn't realize the animals were virtual slaves.
I'll probably find some other job behind that .yes sir.
Killer whale not people whale
Why were they filming him underwater when they couldn't been helping him?
Tell me, how would they help him? They did the best they could.
@@valmacclinchy that's true actually.
@@lukeevans525 they all must've felt so helpless.
damm sea world more focus on making $$ then trainer lives if I was a trainer and witness another trainer almost died I'll tell SeaWorld to kiss my sea
Wtf is wrong with that lawyer? "Many deaths have happened in captivity but the shows are more spectacular with the trainers in the water so it's justified" like if you think that you deserve to get in the water with a killer whale and dragged by your feet.
Yeah sea world paid him a bundle to make this seem all ok! When we all know it’s not!!!
Maybe they wouldn’t of been drugged underwater if they would have been tortured you guys should be a shamed of yourself you guys are messed up
My grand mother and father lived on fox island washington in puget sound from 1916 to 1926. Orcas where always present and she told me stories about them and they were only called black fish at the time. The only way to the island was by launch and the people had a healthy fear of them as they had seen them devour seals many times.
Shut down all sea world along with all amusment parks with animal shows just rides
Should have kept him down for 20 mins. Profit profit profit...whales in bad health mentally and physically will end in death.....
This is a disgrace 😢
Varför gör ingen nåt för bara tittar på 😏😏 dom måste träna på om det skulle hända nåt tycker man men åt andra sidan så ska späckhuggare va fria 👍
Thay obviously didnt drug it up enough,
Blackfish 😤😤😤😤😤
Close it down enough is enough free the whales i don’t want to keep hearing about people being killed by the whales
The guy got what was coming to him
Get Captain Moab QUICK
"minor injuries"
CALLED KARMA
No sympathy. Play with fire....
I BLAME SEA WORLD SET THE ORCAS FREE
Why would they do that to the animals they belong in the ocean that's a better show for me
The s whales know what they do with trainers
Its just shows how dangerous the killer whales are they shouldn't be kept in captivity his just lucky to go offshore and eacape. He could have been killed.
