Still hearing negative press reports about the lack of security and services. Brazilians love for soccer is world famous and that's the reason I wanted to watch the mega event at brasil. Am I going to be in lots of trouble ? Do you have any suggestions on 1) the places to see 2) safe and un-safe area 3) where to stay Any other tips for solo travelers ? Thanks

Although the northeast of Brazil is also super rich, its actually the region where you see more social disparities. Brazil can actually be considered a first world country with some third world countries problems. Its a very complex country.
Brazil is stuck in the third world because of poverty of some countries from the northeast who gets to have a much lower HDI than one African country, not because of his government but the enormous heat that does not allow agricultural produce is nothing in the rivers dry quickly
