    I've switched as well. The mixcast 4 powers an sm7b with no mic activators. The line out and inserts are beautiful to have and they work. The effects are crisp. Fun fact: the rodecaster pro's USB power adapter works with the mixcast 4.

      Yeah! I was shocked that the pre-amps were that good. SM7B no lifters!

    How is it better than the rodecaster pro?

    • @PodDecks

      Better layout, bigger screen, DUAL XLR, more inputs and outputs, free editing software, audio delay for video, effects attached to sound pads....just to name a few.

    I'm trying to find a sample of the poly wav file produced by the Mixcast 4. Specifically, I would like to determine if I am able to open the multitrack file in Audacity. I know there is a Tascam podcast editor, but I would like to migrate to a new board without impacting pre-existing production workflow. Thanks.

    For livestreaming musicians is the rodecaster pro still best or should I buy the tascam? I've been using their products as well forever. I still record on my tascam 2488

      I switched from RODE to Tascam because I am also a musician. You do dual XLR inputs to input instruments into the Mixcast 4. That let me get rid of a DI box on my desk to get my guitar into Logic.

    Great video, thank you for doing it for us. I couldn't help but notice that the touch screen often took more than one tap from you to respond. Is that because you're trying to be quick on screen? Or are we going to be tapping many times to get basic things done as well?

    After couple of weeks - an issue when using the USB Delay - it produces .... a delay, two of my voices. The amount assigned is just the time lapse before my words get repeated. It's like when I'm playing my guitar and using a delay pedal. It's not what I expected. In the Ecamm software there's an Audio Delay function that works flawlessly, but I don't use Ecamm every time I go on ZOOM for example. Am I missing something?

    to clarify, effects can only be used on one channel at a time? let's say reverb, if I have two singers (ion channels 2 and 3) that will sing in duet they can't use the reverb simultaneously right? it's either channel 3 or channel 4 that would be able to use the effects? If so, this is one of the let down. I'm planning to start a streaming and would focus more on local singers and reverb I think is "vital" specially when doing it live! Nice review by the way! have you reviewed QSC Touch Mix 8? I would love to see your review on it!

    • @PodDecks

Actually, I need a machine just for playback background music in some live productions, this mixer has it, and has a fader for it, and also has music name shows in the screen, those could be very helpful. After watch your review, I am little exciting about all other functions, maybe run a show on my own oneday.

  • @HomesickMac
    @HomesickMac 2 роки тому

    Oh no, I (believe) I was first, in the 80's I used the Tascam's 4-channel Porta studio with cassettes, learning to overdub like crazy :-) . As a user of their DR-70D 4-channel mixer that's connected to the Atem Mini Pro in the current configuration of my streaming/teaching, I believe every word you say and I think it's hands down a more complex machine than the Roadcaster Pro. Only the audio delay is enough in my case, otherwise I'm fixing it either in the DR-70D or in the Atem Mini, Ecamm has it as well. So not crucial, but very convenient. Also, the gain at 66,5 db is only 0,5 less than on the DR-70D, albeit a bit noisy according to some reviews. With good mics though, you won't need too much gain anyway.
    My "micro" complaint - they should change the colour of the recoding indicator to yellow or green when the Talkback button is pressed down. And I don't really understand if the recording is being muted for all participants of only for one of the channels (mine for ex.)..
