I followed the build and built the nutball. It's now in the neighbors tree ... but a few flights and one prop before that I discovered that it's a good idea to put a rubber band on the rear bamboo stick! The wing came off at altitude and gently flapped down, I cut the power but the body came down like an arrow (servo wires ripped of the receiver cleanly)! No damage! One strong plane.
hey josh, josh... i watch your vids for quite a while now and i am a big fan depronbuilder myself. keep it UP guys great stuff everytime greetingz from holland Marty
@Matthewandmatthewpwn The product is a thin foam board (about 3-4 mm) covered with paper, in the US its available lots of places, including WalMart. In other countries it is usually found in office supply stores and art supply or craft stores, The Dollar Tree stores they talk about are a place where it can be found at a very low price, you may have something similar in the UK.
when you want to improve your Nutball you might try this.. look to page 671 on the rcgroups nutball thread It is a split elevon mod that will give better rolls.. it makes the nutball 4 channels with rudder on the left and elevons on the right stick.. None of the good characteristics are lost, but rolls are more axial and control is improved
Tape around the battery connector hole so that if the battery pops off, it doesn't tear the foam. Everybody try a cheap scratch build if you have a cheap receiver!
Can you list the items needed? Hard to work out lengths of rods, foam board, wheel size, type of wood/tape etc. Buying alternative best guess products in UK so hard to product match. Never built a plan before so need a bit more info to gather what I need! Would also be useful to have a written step by step guide
Thanks for the video. I've been interested in getting into the rc plane hobby for months. This seems like the perfect plane to start with. I tried to find that transmitter on hobbyking but couldn't. Can you please add the links to the items in the description? Thanks again
So you only need 2 servos one for the rudder and one for the flaps??? No aileron servoes..? sorry im a newbie and this is the first time building a plane. thanks for the help...
Sir I want to know the centre of gravity for nutball rc plane which I made. I have 360mah battery and two 9 grm servo and 24 grm 1300 kv motor.plz guide me.
Hi, just want to ask i am about to buy a second hand DX6i and don't know how to test it when getting from buyer except to get a plane and bind, is there away to test without a plane to be tested.will appreciate ur help. Thanks
Hi, so i found the flitetest plans on ur site and converted them to tile format but im not sure if im printing out the right size. PLEASE make measurements on the plans. Thanks!
i am wanting to build one but i dont know where the plans are. at your website there is a picture at the bottom but i dont think that is it where are the plans can someone send me a link to it
HEEELP!!! how is the best way to connect the controls to the radio? I mean, i fly mode 2 and should i have ruder and throttle on stick number 1 and only elevator on the stick number 2?
@wargasm180 Take the link above.... Then It's hard to see but right below the links to RCGroups threads there is a jpg of flitetests' version of the plan. Took me forever to notice it there!! Kinda stupid that it's not a pdf either....
@Highspeedfutzi Well, he did fail to mention the $15 shipping charge and the two month wait for it to be in stock and sent to the other side of the world. :^/
Its dollar tree foam board from dollar tree evidently. It costs 1$ for a 20x30 sheet and ive found it works better than the more expensive michaels and other higher end foamboards. I would for a dollar tree before youj tried any other types of foam board.
im new to the rc world and i would love to build a nutball. i followed the link to your site and opened the link to the plans and there was nothing there, just black screen. help please. love your vids
I am a new builder of rc planes, and I have everything I need 4 my nutball, but, on your diagram on the website, is shows no dimensions on your drawing. Please add them, and make all our building adventures easier..... Good show lol
@Darksidestudios100 though i have never made one of these, i personally would not put my gopro on it, if you want a good platform for cheap check out the hobbyking bixler. :)
Thank you flight Test, with this design I had my first flight. thank you for everything that you do and keep up the great work.

yes..it's very heavy. Try any packing tape including clear. Still very strong.
Thank you to flite test, years and years of amazing content that got me into this amazing hobby
Looks great, can't wait to build it!!!
Great videos guys, keep it up.
i just bought this plane and it flew BEAUTIFULLY thanks flitetest!
My favorite part about flight test is they actually show how they instal the electronics!
thanks a lot man i found them and finished my plane !!!
pretty excited about this scratch build cause i want the expandable bodies!!!
Josh Bixler, if you want cheap then I recommend the motors from those battery operated hand fans. they may not last forever but they do work.
i build it in about 1 hour and it's a lot of fun to build and to fly i deffenetly recommend this model!
Bravo ........l'ingénieur .......👍💌🇩🇿
hey josh, josh...
i watch your vids for quite a while now and i am a big fan depronbuilder myself.

@lookeflite The motor mount screws are servo screws that are contained in the HXT 9 gram servo packs.

wow! thats way!!! easier than i thought it would be! thanks guys.
WWEREEEEE ARE THE PLLLANNNNSSSSSSS
Print it in seperate pages then take a ruler and an x-acto knife to cut the border off the paper so that you can line up the pages then tape them.
Do you recomend TGY 4x radio ? I want to make nutball for my brother !!!
i hope u guys never get dislikes, what is there to not like?!?! :) great vids keep em comin!!!
i was searching for plans too. but it`s shape is so simple that you could draw your own plans

yeah thats what i had to do to mine to.it was close but not perfect i will make another since i know what to do now.
Nutballs are great! Love to fly them
How do you calculate the center of gravity? Would this model work on cardboard?

Great video guy's.
What would you have if you had 2 nut balls and a blimp in formation ??
@pallagustth It is just foam board bought a dollar tree. I think it is roughly 4mm thick with paper on both sides.
@sgermiller C.G is 5 inches back from the firewall friend.
I think it might be under the delta wing swappable, look there for the parts list and plans for the fuselage...
Tape around the battery connector hole so that if the battery pops off, it doesn't tear the foam.
Everybody try a cheap scratch build if you have a cheap receiver!
I would say it is too heavy. But if you use a little as possible you would still be able to fly no problem :)
There are links to multiple variations, including the ones used in the video.
How do you print the plans? Do you go somewhere that can print it full-sized or on separate pages? If separate pages, how?
Good day! Do you have any models with a profiled round wing? Flyers fly worse, though. “thanks.
Thank you very much!
Nice build, I was wondering if you can show how you make a modified z bend your the first ive heard of this thanks
Isn't butting the battery out of the power pot especially as it is right at the bottom and maybe scrape on the floor
hey i think the link on your sight is wrong. the plans that you provide seem different from what i see from this video
My first plane!!!!
Is there anything I could use instead of plywood for the firewall? Anything that's a little more readily available? Thanks! Great vid:).
Hopy King.... bravo

where can i get the plans for this plane with the marks for the swappable fuse. the rc plans does not have the plans with the fuse marks ?
Thanks for the video. I've been interested in getting into the rc plane hobby for months. This seems like the perfect plane to start with. I tried to find that transmitter on hobbyking but couldn't. Can you please add the links to the items in the description? Thanks again
Hi Josh. Can you tell me what the product number for the screws you used for hold on the the motor mount? Thanks
So you only need 2 servos one for the rudder and one for the flaps??? No aileron servoes..? sorry im a newbie and this is the first time building a plane. thanks for the help...
+Melad Alrekane yes
Yes. The Rudder makes the plane turn like ailerons would.
i went there but it does not show the plans for the marks for the fuse.. does flitetest have 1 all i can find is rc powers plans
First and great video guys. Keep up the good work as usual!!!
The only thing that will print is the scale down ver. H ow do we get the spec for the full size?

Could you give the serial numbers for the parts so I know exactly which ones to get? Thanks!
the links they give do not look like the plane they are building in the vid
Josh, Chad, why don't you make and fly some EDF-driven plane?
Is this a 24" nutball? if not, what's the diameter?
can any one tell me what gauge wire did they use to make there landing gear from
@lookeflite shipping cost usually double up the price :/
I can't find the fusealge in the plans.
which thickness of foam should i use 3mm 2mm please recommend
Nn Sharma it doesn't matter. The thicker it is, the more durable, but it adds more weight
hey brother nice to see indian guy...if you live in delhi we can do this design together
@@dhruvgarg4 where do u live in delhi tho?
6mm would be enough.

i have a sheet of foam 600x400x10mm is that ok to use
Way tail heavy. You need a large battery or bigger motor. Build Goldguy`s version. R/C Groups.
@wargasm180 Take the link above.... Then It's hard to see but right below the links to RCGroups threads there is a jpg of flitetests' version of the plan. Took me forever to notice it there!! Kinda stupid that it's not a pdf either....
