Thanks for the shoutout Jack! Your tutorials have always been the only ones that ever worked for me, and it’s obvious how much work goes into making clear and concise tutorials for everyone to use for free. Much appreciated :)
Got I bought this a long time ago but I never understood how to install it thank you man! Edit: Welp my micro SD card wasn't 2gb so that's explain a lot Hey an another edit, like a month after this video as came i finally tried it and this tutorial is the only one i'v found (so far) witch worked! thanks man your the best!
Been thinking about trying to get a GameCube at some point to homebrew. Although even if Datel brought back the SD Media Launcher, I wouldn't be able to use it, since I'll be getting a Japanese GameCube.
So everyone coming to this video knows, CodeJunkies no longer sells Action Replay discs for North American consoles. These discs are now incredibly hard to get, and the rest of the instructions do not work without it.
yep this method is not worth it those ar discs go for like $200+ however this method is still good for pal because the pal discs aren't as hard to find and aren't rare but ntsc ar discs are expensive for ntsc for $10-20 you can do the 007 agent under fire save game exploit
Wii does it all also if you got a wii. I got both with gameboy/mod without the GB loadup disk, so I don't need to worry. I could load swiss if I wanted to, but wii can play GB games/cheats.
Perfect opportunity to ask how to add Neo-Geo CD emulator as well, it has a very good library and it is a bit difficult to know how to install. Also what are your opinions on the up coming GC Loader system that eliminates the disc drive step all together? I think it is a great way to bring back all the Gamecubes that no longer have a working disc drive.
Broken disc drives can easily be fixed by increasing the voltage on the disc laser. All you need is some screwdrivers, specifically Gamebit and Tri-Wing ones, and a lot of patience.
One quick question. Do I need to get the mod chip (The one you solder onto the motherboard of the console) to get this to work or do I just buy the products in the video and it should be fine?
@SaZoN GoYa I got the CodeJunkies kit and it worked without a modchip. I would highly suggest getting a modchip if you're experienced in soldering though as it's quicker and more convenient than a disc and a slow memory card.
Yeah, how exactly do we do this now on a US console? Datel stopped selling the US Launcher a good bit ago and there's pretty much none being resold online.
Hi followed exactly as you mentioned in the video but all im getting is a list of games when running action replay, tried two different sd to memory card adapters and also sd cards are formatted to Fat32 and also tried exFAT but not getting anywhere? do you have a troubleshooting video?
Hello, I'm having the same problem! Did you eventually figure it out by chance? It's unfortunate that no one replied to this comment, because I really could use some help.
Hello Jack, I followed your instructions step by step, and somehow I can't get my gamecube to run Swiss. could it be, because I use a Mac instead of a windows device? when I start up my Gamecube, I get the Action Replay screen with a list of games and (assuringly) cheats for those games, but I cannot launch Swiss :( I could really use some help
You actually don't need an action replay disk. There are a few games who support booting in swiss. The most know games are "The Legends of Zelda The Windwaker" and "Super Smash Bros Melee". There are two thing you need for this, a device where you can transfer files to a GC memory card (most people use the gamecube manager on a modded wii) and one of those (micro) USB adapters. You need that to be able to load bigger files. This is a bit cheaper if you have the proper tools, but the earliest methode is told in this video. This isn't the best methode btw. There's even an option to install a little board with a micro usb adapter attached to it. Than you only need to turn the GC on to boot in swiss and there are no steps to follow.
Hello, I know this comment was made 2 years ago, but I have a GameCube and SSBM disk, but no modded Wii with GC memcard ports. What I do have, however, is an SD to GameCube memory card adapter, and a 2 gigabyte SD card, so can I just transfer the save files onto the SD card using my PC instead of using a Wii homebrew app? Thank you.
Hiya...I'm having trouble, can I download the file i need from your website or an use a regular card adapter with the action replay disc OR do I have to buy the action replay disc and card together as shown in your video for this to work....in a nutshell...do I have to have the action replay cartridge to put my micro sd card in....cheers
ok have you tried the new pico ? see if u can figure out how to play the gba and gameboy color and original gameboy without having the gameboy player or action replay and run it off the sd card .. that would be awesome .. thanks
Hey there! Looks like the SD Media Launcher is no longer available on the website. I don’t see it sold on any third party websites either. Any ideas? Is there a new product that does the same thing out there?
It's been a while since this channel uploaded but I hope I can reach. I checked for the Action Replay disc and it seems that they're out of stock and maybe discontinued? Maybe I just went into it at a bad time but looking around for the disc has it priced around $300 on a good day. Are there any alternatives for the disc that serve the same purpose? Or am I just out of luck?
You can use GC loader or Picoboot mods to accomplish the same thing. The gcloader will be the same problem as being out of stock and scalpers want triple the price but the picoboot is easy to get for cheap.
HI I can't find the SD Media Launcher (US Version) anywhere on the internet, unless its $150+ on Ebay, any recommendations on where else to buy? Thanks!
Hooooold up!🤔🤔 So what im understanding, with the sd adapter and the disk.... I can use my phone to install hombrew on a gamecub?? Just need the files???....done this with psp with pc before but seems like its possible with this console also! 😲😱
Your Gamecube will not be able to load the Action Replay if you have a DOL-101 console. In that case, your only option is to hardmod your system, or buy a new one. Thankfully Gamecubes aren't super expensive these days so getting a new one wouldn't be too much of a hassle.
@@SonicSammich Wouldn't I theoretically with a DOL-101 gamecube, be able to buy a hacked memory card along with wind waker or smash and and sd gecko and do it that way?
Does anyone know where to get an action replay disk? I can't find one anywhere and the American option for the bundle shown in the video isn't available.
So Code Junkies says the US version of the bundle is discontinued. What do I need to buy and where to do this? I keep seeing something about using Serial Port 2 with some chip but my GameCube doesn't have that port. I'm confused and stuck, any help would be awesome.
Do you still need memory cards if you homebrew a Gamecube? I don't have one for mine right now so I was wondering if I should get one of those as well.
God damnit I bought the NickDisk instead of Action Replay assuming that it would make no difference but as it turns out some small print on the disk reads that the Xeno modchip is required. The SD Media Launchers (at least in the us) are also out of stock. Great.
Good luck, only one company ever made them and they're discontinued for North American consoles. Trying to set this up with a boot disc has been a massive bitch
I don't believe you can boot Swiss with a card higher than 2GB this way with normal settings, but in my next video I'll show you how to use much bigger cards within Swiss. I explain the auto-boot setup process in my GameCube emulators video. 👍
Thank you very much for the tutorial, I tried it a few days ago, Gamecube games work perfectly, but I am unable to save the games. In the beginning it says the memory card is corrupted, but saving on a normal disc works fine. Does anyone have a solution?
Hi doing this in 2022 on swiss v0.6 Can someone please clarify sd and micro sd card specifications with Swiss? I see some info from years ago saying swiss in general will only support 32g cards. And current information that says it supports up to 2T. I've heard they must be formated as fat32 but then I've heard fat16 is better if fat32 doesn't work for some cards. And I assume if you aren't using a memory card to sd adaptor but instead the other serial port you will be fine as long as its formatting correctly. Probably up to 2T. But what about the memory card to sd card adaptor? Will it read confidently from larger cards? I noticed its sd card. So can I use a micro sd to as card adaptor and then use that in the memory card to sd adaptor? Can someone clarify some of these questions? That would be really helpful. Thank you Edit: I've also seen info that says the gamecube in general doesn't read anything over 2g sd. Is that limitation from the memory card to sd adaptor? Or is that just old info?
Did you ever figure it out. I'm trying to get more info for picoboot or gcloader mods but everyone wants to be shady about it and not just answer your questions straight up.
