I'm more worried about Zacian/Zamazenta. The only way to get them currently is to catch them in the postgame of Sword/Shield, but Eternatus, which comes after them in the national dex, is a required capture during the main story. There's no way around catching Eternatus: the game gives you a pokeball for free if you don't have any, withholds box 32 until catching Eternatus in case you try to fill up your box and party to have no space for it, and straight up softlocks if you hack the game to get and fill every box early in advance. Until Zacian/Zamazenta become available another way, I don't think gen 8 is possible. Common Sword/Shield L tbh

When you pointed out that Phione could be obtained before Manaphy in Legends Arceus, I was like, "Oh, clever". Then when you started reading the book and it hit me that you need Overqwil to get to Phione in PLA, my heart sank. Glad there was still a workaround!

Next video is gonna be tough. Victini is a real problem for this. About the only way I can see it work is by using Pokémon Go and getting one of the occasional event tickets that give you a chance to get it there.
There's actually a method from the original BW games, there was an event item that allowed you to go where Victini spawned and catch it. Maybe he might use DNS changing things I don't know

This just makes me think of a harder version that I would not wish for anyone to do… but would 100% watch. This challenge but you can’t recapture Pokémon you got, like you can capture a Pokémon as many times as you want, you just can’t capture it after you catch the next one… like Pokemon 10 10 10 11 11 11 12 13 14 14 is valid but 10 10 10 11 11 12 10 is not, making it true order, I bet that would be hard/imposible but I feel that would be cool.
That sounds rough but thinking practically, as long as you can catch fodder for trades to get HM users from older gens, the only added challenge is grinding one or two early pokemon to sweep the whole game, which has been done before lol
Great job! Can't wait for gen 5 coming. I would assume you'll be getting Victini from Pokemon Go, as it's the only way to get it into your pokemon home without getting any other gen 5 pokemon in there first, though if you have to start from scratch in Go, it might take a really long time to get there. Probably 4-6 months of daily playing, and avoiding catching any other gen 5 pokemon. It is available for everyone thankfully, starting from level 15, you simply have to go through the research quests for Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi. Victini's questline however, does have reward encounters, that you may not be able to avoid, namely Elgyem and Darumaka. Though, alternatively, you could use your presumably existing Go profile, despite any pokemon that you have already caught there, and simply transfer your existing Victini to Home. Then you'd be free to start any gen 5 game with Snivy, and then eventually catch your slightly more legit victini later on with the event item.
These videos have been really inspiring. I’ve been playing Pokémon since gen 1, and have gotten close to completing the dex a couple of times, but never crossed that finish line. To know it’s doable with even the extreme rules gives me hope 😂

Although I haven't tried it out myself, I feel like victini may be doable in order without hacking by possibly glitching the game to not get your starter/confuse the game to think you already have it. I know the bike tweaking glitch only works in gen 4, but maybe there's some other way to bypass the gen 5 starters temporarily in order to get victini first

I wonder would any of the gen 5 game be needed after the mythicals (keldeo and meloetta later being caught in sssh dlc and sv dlc once those gens are reached) seeing as tge unova starters can be gotten in oras by rematching the league and oshawatt can be gotten in pla and it would also be the easiest game to get the male genies
6:39 I thought it was obvious why you didn't trade back to older games to grind. You can't catch any more Pokémon than your starter, you can't trade away your only Pokémon, and you can't have a one-way trade. Am I wrong?

As a side note, UA-cam keeps capping my videos at 360p for a while after uploading so I kept it unlisted until processing was finished so people didn't have to suffer through SD quality. Not sure why this keeps happening, but if any seasoned UA-cam veterans know why this is and how I can solve it for next time it would be highly appreciated!
It releases the video as soon as the SD quality is finished processing. If you want to upload it and forget about it while still only showing it in HD, you can schedule the release. Then it will come out at a specific time, and if you set it far enough in the future, in the full definition you exported it as.
That's a standard UA-cam thing. I guess the idea is to make it available to watch as early as possible, even if it's at lower quality while the higher quality versions are still processing.

People gave already identified a few roadblocks in the coming gens. Victini, Escavalier, Zacian & Zamazenta for example. However, as time has progressed there are workarounds for those; Pokemon Go and events come to mind. However, I think tragically the actual roadblocks will come right before the finish line. Aside from the fact that Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are timed exclusives, I don't think there is a way to catch Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti before catching Ogerpon. Just like Eternatus, Ogerpon is absolutely forced woth no workarounds, but unlike Zacian and Zamazenta there haven't been events distributing the Lousy Three that can be exploited to get them like Zacian and Zamazenta. The only way around that would be to wait until either those events happen (which is entirely plausible) or until another game is released wherein those three are catchable, probably in gen 10, or if we're lucky, Pokemon Go.
Yep, you're absolutely right - when I planned this all out, there were 1008 pokemon so now I am just looking for a miracle to occur, I'll probably be bringing it up in a little mini segment in one of the videos
@@KillerKiwi1642 Hey you never know: in gen 8, we got shiny Galarian Birds as mystery gifts if you signed up for the right online tournaments, maybe they have some distributions for those three later this year by the time you get to them. At the very least, stranding at the end of the dex may be unsatisfying, it's also solved by waiting. You can just pickup in the future when there is a way to get the ones that aren't available as of now. Really enjoying the series thus far, guess we'll have to wait and see what the solution will be once we get there! 1008 would be a very respectable ending point though (even 1013 if there is another Walking Wake/Iron Leaves event at the right time).
playing pokemon ranger and pokemon ranch just for 1 pokemon each is the level of dedication that I have come to expect from this series, super excited for part five!

playing pokemon ranger and pokemon ranch just for 1 pokemon each is the level of dedication that I have come to expect from this series, super excited for part five!
Reading some of the comments, it seems like their are gonna be some serious challenges in future games. Goodluck on the series, it's a great concept and fun to see it all play out.

If you use PkHex you will be able to store all your caught pokémon in a single savefile. Would be cool if you did it in the series finale
