if you could do one fro the first book that is just after the elementary ones - which have statements and not clues - I'm stuck with them dismally lol

Before going on with the guessings, you should have transferred known facts to each section to eliminate all the extra possibilities...making solving easier.

I found your site looking for a method to solve the ones in the second chapter in the book. They have me flummoxed. There are only two facts and three statements made by the suspects, one of which is a liar and the culprit. In other words three either or statements with two facts. Unfortunately the book gives no help of how to think to solve them. I wondered if there was a formula for solving them. Sometimes all the statements fit in the puzzle.

I'm having the exact same problem. Did you find help anywhere?

There are hints in the back of the book for each game. Sometimes they help out. I am having the same issues with the second mysteries of Volume 1. I tried to watch a video of how to solve them (TikTok) and it still didn’t help. We need more information. Otherwise it’s a crapshoot mess, in my humble opinion.

The way I do it is like this: fill in as much as you can using the clues and evidence. I usually do this with big crosses and ticks that fill the entire box, any further crosses and ticks I do small so if I make a mistake, I know which ones to rub out to get back to where I know up till then it's correct. I then assume the first statement is the lie and fill in the grid accordingly, if it doesn't work out, then I rub out my newly made small crosses and ticks so I'm back to where I was before. I then assume the second statement is the lie and fill in the grid accordingly. Eventually it will work out and you'll know which is the lie. I hope that makes sense and it helps!

@@alsypigI'm currently on puzzle 27 volume 1, and I feel like all three statements are correct. I even tried to do it the way you described. I've crossed out everything, and there is no mismatch between any of the statements

@@engineerstig5975 Do you mean the mysterious murder in the mysterious woods? That's funny because when I did it as I described above, I found mismatches between statements. If you take the second statement as the lie, it works out as this is indeed the lie, but when I filled in the grid as if the first statement was the lie and then the third, in both cases I found clashes between the location of suspects and weapons.
