I recently turned down a sponsorship with a well known hair care brand because we couldn’t come to terms on what they wanted to pay vs what I’m worth. They wanted to pay the rate for and asked for a “mention” in a routine video (where I couldn’t use competitive brands, which turned into basically an exclusive video) when all was said and done. We went back and forth as to why it would be an exclusive and what my rate is for an exclusive. In the end, I said no.They were devaluing me as a creator. I’d lose out on in other long term revenue by doing that “exclusive” video yet accepting their low rate.
I definitely think it’s important to not devalue yourself no matter who the brand is. It’s a big reason why many brands are able to take advantage of midsize and smaller UA-camrs. They try to pay a low rate or give product in exchange for a mention or a dedicated video when they don’t consider the time it actually takes to film, research and edit our videos. I'm trying to figure out what I'm worth now I have 33k subs, I just did 2 million views in the last 28 days. I've only been around for 6 months. My channel is growing daily, and the product is almost a direct tie in to what I do? I feel I'm on the precipice of exploding or am presently exploding. this video was so helpful! i was recently reached out by a brand that i’ve been loving and using forever but i honestly have no experience in sponsorships and i had no idea if their price was fair, it’s hard to negotiate when you don’t know “what the going rate is” and when you don’t wanna devalue yourself :)

It won’t let me proceed without paying am I doing something wrong I haven’t looked at it a terrible amount it’s possible that I just need to go back and look at it closer I definitely would not mind paying if I knew exactly what I was paying for…..

With all the dynamic changes on YT and the brand/affiliate market, this is often a hot-button topic for growing influencers like myself - it would be cool if there were a "input your data = answer sheet" excel or G-sheets doc for something like this; that would certainly help simplify the process. THIS right here! I had a well known company reach out to me to work together & they told me everything they wanted. I asked them what their budget was and they told me they usually don’t pay influencers when they work with them for the first time! I was shocked how companies think they can just get free promo. If they hired a professional, it would cost them thousands!

Thanks so much for this video! I am a long way off from brand deals, but looking forward to it int he future! I took B-School last year and it was awesome! She has an affiliate program that pays you $1k (of the $2k cost of the course) for everyone that signs up through your link. IDK what the requirements for being a partner are, but maybe it's something you can look into.
Could you do a series on how someone could do all of the youtube stuff with just a cell phone. Filming/ editing etc. That's all I have is my cell and no other equipment. I would love to know how i could make better and more decent videos with just what i have
