I’ve been on tocilizumab through IV monthly for 10+ years and I’m going to be doing the at home injections soo. For the first time and I’m so nervous because I hate needles.
partner will be starting on this med. He has PMR....would like to hear of ANY reactions...He IS on a statin so a little worried about a rise in cholesterol
Cassie Bird I haven't had any lung issues. this drug with mtx sub q has worked the best for me. the only side effect I've had from the actemra has been some mildly elevated cholesterol levels. the methotrexate makes me kind of "hung over" the next day. but actemra has been great for me personally. I think the RA itself is more likely to cause you lung problems than this medicine. good luck!
Thank you hun, I never got to try actemera as my lungs were already in rapid decline, it turns out you are very right, the RA untamed has done most damage to my lungs. I've just restarted methotrexate (which I'm allergic to and had the first instance of lung damage when I took it last...) At a lower dose and had my first infusion of rituximab two weeks ago and have my second infusion on Wednesday. I spent six months without any ra drugs and my lungs were still terrible so I'm praying treating the ra will help my lungs. Lung doctors like to blame the ra drugs, as it is easier to treat. The ra in the lungs is not such a good prognosis and not much they can do about that yet. It's no fun being a medical marvel lol x

I hate injecting myself. I can feel the contents of the needle enter my body. Is it better to inject quickly or slowly?
Slowly if you don’t like the injection but fast if you want feel what it’s like on an iv
