just a minor correction: the first mention of the crippled god was in GoTM when Kruppe was reading one of Mammot's books that mentioned the "chaining" of the crippled god in a warren (if im not mistaken) and it also mentioned that amongst the audience present were Annomander Rake and his dragons. thanks for the episode guys!
I think the meaning of diegetic is the other way around. Diegetic means "belonging to that specific world", so characters could have knowledge of it, could hear it, see it, etc. Non-diegetic would be anything added from the outside of that world (aka music edited in). Also, regarding the ancient battle, the way I saw it was ancient as in "this is a battle that had been going for timing time". I think they mentioned the ay and the ranag had been roaming those lands for a long time.
