Shaggydog Gaming He says it like that because that's how smite has it written down in their client. He has to do it accordingly to how they've written it.
Well...the whole thing of saying the Roman gods are the Greek gods with different names is a gross oversimplification. It's more like the Romans adopted the Greek gods and changed them around to suit their own views. For instance, Ares was very cruel and bloodthirsty, while Mars more represented fair combat.
Those of you who are saying Cupid isn't Greek - You're right and wrong. Cupid is the Roman name of Eros, who is the Greek god of lust and desire. But just because Cupid is nearly an exact replica (I admit, the Romans could have been a little more unique when it came to Cupid) does not mean that every single Roman god is. The Romans completely rewrote the stories and lore. Yes, they used some of the same concepts as the Greeks. Why? Obviously, because they enjoyed it. They liked the ideas Greece had going, so they took them but recreated them to suit their own virtues. For example, Athena and Minerva. Both are goddesses of wisdom, war, and crafts. But they are very different in appearance and social structure. Athena is a warrior by nature. She is known to be very scary in her lore. Minerva, however, is not. She's less of a warrior, but more of a virtuous fighter. She is less gung-ho than Athena, and uses her mind more often in war than her Greek counterpart. Basically, Athena is brawn over brain, and Minerva is brain over brawn. Just because they're most commonly known of goddesses of wisdom does not mean that both used their wisdom equally. And let's not forget the fact that Janus and Sylvanus exist. Janus has no Greek counterpart. Neither does Sylvanus. They are entirely Roman. What I am saying is that Romans and Greeks are not the same people. They are two very different cultures with very different values and virtues, thus each of their gods are very different from each other. Example: Smite IS LoL, or Smite is LIKE LoL. Obviously, the first is incorrect. Smite is its own game. While it took ideas from LoL and Dota, it is not an exact replica of them. I think they used Cupid in this because not many Smite players actually know true lore. It would confuse them if they called Ares Mars or Zeus Jupiter. Since Aphro, Ares, and Zeus are in the game, the Smite players will know them and not be so confused.
I still want Psyche to be included in Smite, so Aphrodite can get all JELLY on her. But yeah, the issue here is the usage of Aphrodite instead of Venus. Heck, Nevercake, you once differentiated Hephaestus with Vulcan when you did Aphrodite... tell me why you couldn't do the same to Aphrodite and Venus. Oh well, I guess I should expect Zeus to be featured when you do Hercules...
well, for one. Cupid is Roman. so his parents would be Mars and Venus. but with the Greek counterparts, I've always known Eros (Cupid) as being the hermaphrodite aka the offspring of Hermes and Aphrodite, or Venus and Mercury.
Cupid was startled and fled. Psyche was distraught and went searching for her love, and the goddess Venus tortured her when Psyche sought her aid. Venus then agreed to send Psyche on a series of quests, which ends with her cursed to sleep. Cupid discovers her and removes the curse. Jupiter then gave her immortality and Psyche and Cupid wed as equals.
Pfft... talk about clumsy in love. XD Thank you very much, didn't know abou this part of the lore. Only about some girl kill themselves for Cupid/Eros. And he was represented as a handsome man with wings in paintings.
Im sorry, but Cupid is a roman god, not a greek god, so he would be the son of Mars and (whatever name Aphrodite has in the roman mythology) and Zeus is Jupiter
Well, they're basically the same gods. Even so, people know Aphrodite, Ares, and Zeus more than they know Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. I mean, if the video wanted to really be accurate, they would have named Cupid Eros (his Greek name).
Djordje Djordjevic how is it inaccurate? Just because it has a different name? If the lore was all wrong. Then yeah its inaccurate. It seems fine with these names dice they're more known and easier to remember
Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Cupid is Roman and the son of VENUS. The Psyche part is correct, but the one who gave him permission was JUPITER, not ZEUS. The children of Aphrodite and Ares were Deimos (the god of fear), Phobos (the god of panic) and Anteros (the god of unrequited love). Cupid's Greek counterpart, just so you know, is Eros. I love your videos to bits, but PLEASE... get the mythology right.
Cupid is in Roman mythology.... SO he is child of Venus and Mars, and he went to Jupiter, not Zeus. His Greek counterpart is Eros.. Please don't mix this up SMITE :(
So cupid is the roman god of love but he is the son of the greek gods of war and buatuty and love? He also goes to ask Zeus from aprooval? Thats doesnt make any sense . I didnt know the roman gods and the greek gods were bffs.
"Yah, wahtever, Uuhh!!"

Shaggydog Gaming He says it like that because that's how smite has it written down in their client. He has to do it accordingly to how they've written it.

"Oh Wow that's a large head" ...
What a happy tale about love, romance and arrows.
First one with an happy ending! :D
One of the best episodes yet!
OMG! A quite accurate version of Armor & Psyche
So is drunk mythology a distant memory now? Still waiting for episode 2 over here...
I can confirm that an episode is coming in the near future.
SMITE by Hi-Rez Studios Hooray, been waiting for that for a while XD
SMITE by Hi-Rez Studios Thank you for the clarification. :)
SMITE by Hi-Rez Studios PRAISE THE LERD
Just remember there is a liver of a man resenting a bunch of alcohol through those episodes you selfish dastard >:(
one of the better ending myths in greek mythology... and that says a lot.
Yeah it say: Love drug = Happy ending.
Looking over Greek myth... that's not exactly saying much
I was playing SMITE a while ago.
What I remember about Cupid: "I fight your butt!"
I still have nightmare about him ....
There should definitely be a character based of Psyche here!
"Blue skies, baby dies"
DryBear
Aphrodite disliked this video lol
Tiago Marx Aphrodite and 14 worshipers :(
+Rodrigo Rodriguez aphrodite and 16 worshipers now
Rodrigo Rodriguez Lmao
So, are greek and roman gods connected? How does this work?
Roman gods are basically Greek gods with different names.
Well , roman gods are kinda same with the Greek Pantheon. The only difference is at their names. e.x Zeus = Jupiter etc
Only a few gods are only romans, like Sylvanus and Janus
Well...the whole thing of saying the Roman gods are the Greek gods with different names is a gross oversimplification. It's more like the Romans adopted the Greek gods and changed them around to suit their own views. For instance, Ares was very cruel and bloodthirsty, while Mars more represented fair combat.
Jose Galian Janus*
This is by far the best one.
Of course Zeus would understand WINK WINK

Play with all the sharp objects!
Mars and Venus === not Aphro and Ares ^_^
Thats Roman, this is Greek Mythology
KiroShiro0 Cupid is Roman
Cupid is roman dumbass
Actually..it makes no difference either way which name is used.
cupid is Eros(means love in greek)
Psyche as a goddess pls
Imagine she's like a really hot older chick who's husband is a little baby. That would be hilarious!
Cupid/Eros isn't a baby
ahhh Psyche, the goddess of the soul. cant wait to play her.
thank you AJ and the Creator(s) of this vid for my birthday present c:
I like to believe in the version where eros/cupid was a primordial, not the son of ares and aphrodite
Take note people. When you are clumsy around sharp objects you will live a happy life
Best series ever.
welp im glad his lore is as cute as him. i'd watch this rom com
The ending makes this video XD
Cupid is love, Cupid is Life.
Okay, so, like. Aphrodite is a bad mom.
Oh well, I guess I should expect Zeus to be featured when you do Hercules...
shouldn't it be mars venus and jupiter? since you use cupid instead of eros i mean
Do Athena next, her birth was a crazy one
well, for one. Cupid is Roman. so his parents would be Mars and Venus. but with the Greek counterparts, I've always known Eros (Cupid) as being the hermaphrodite aka the offspring of Hermes and Aphrodite, or Venus and Mercury.
+Skylar Rufenacht actually
his parents are Vulcan and Venus
yay for clumsyness around sharp objects, lol
Can I translate your smite lore videos and embend subs ? I fo, I'll give the credits to you.
keep the good work, I love this animations
I just love these things
So is the moral of the story its ok to run with scissors as long as they're enchanted with Cupid love magic?
so if psyche was gonna fall in love with a spider.. what if that was arachne?
I would LOVE to see Anteros on Smite (Eros' (AKA Cupid) brother)
I like the part where he scraped his Arrow.
I wonder what it's like to fall in love with a spider
Can we all stand in awe how Zeus allow this instead take her from Cupid.
actually
Cupid was the son of Venus and Vulcan
Eros was the son of Aphrodite and (not ares but instead) Hasphestus
greek vs roman mythology here
Consuela should have appeared in this video when she said "no no no"
Cupid was startled and fled.
According to mythology Cupid is actuly sopost to look a lot like Thanatos
These videos make my day :D thanks
Cupid goes where he pleases.
Still a better love story than Tauriel and kili
Dude, the last part is so sad.
Pfft... talk about clumsy in love.
Same shit different names
yup i know but still, you cant do something like this so innacuratly
Djordje Djordjevic how is it inaccurate? Just because it has a different name? If the lore was all wrong. Then yeah its inaccurate. It seems fine with these names dice they're more known and easier to remember
Its inaccurate because its mixing up two mythologies, for example i would kill someone that says Perun is like Thor or Zeus
just sayin, if you put cupid in the roman panteon, spell the names in roman then for aphro, ares and zeus
Which "head" are you talking about?
wait wait wait, i thougt eros (cupid) was a primordial god, wasnt he like brother to gaia or tartarus or something
one of your best
Nevercake's animations are funny and cute
I forgot Cupid's Greek name... Dammit...
Anyway, this episode is my favorite thus far
Eros is the Greek name, MARSHALLLLL
Great video Hi-Rez :)
Man, this story sounded so much better with Eros and not baby Cupid
I love this one!
Cupid is from the roman pantheon but this is the Greek story
So if Cupid wasn't clumsy with his own artillery, Psyche basically would've hooked up with Arachne. Let the rule 34 commence!
Yay happy ending
Tek Yumi
for once.
I had the video on mute and it was still funny.
Where is the apollo buff? :(
"Oh WOW, what a large head!"..... Omg, i am a perv.
I take it Ares had no say in the upbringing of Cupid, as I guarantee he wouldn't have turned out like Smite's version of Teemo if he did.
Cupid is Roman, Eos is the proper Greek deity!
Areeb Gaming you're point is?
Bloody Rose that whole back story used the wrong deities. Silly fool please do your research first before commenting things like you did.
Areeb Gaming oh, ok, sorry
Areeb Gaming I already knew that, I just didn't notice the fact that he used wrong names
So is the story about Cupid or Eros? O.o
same god different name
Eros is the son of Aphrodite and Ares. Cupid is a Roman god, which means his parents are Venus and Mars.
Ummm smite u messed up. You made Cupid roman in the game. You broke the laws of the world!
Um...Cupid is Roman not Greek and the Greek version of him is named Eros
Cupid is the Teemo of smite.
huh, a greek love story that doesn't end in tragedy thats rare.
Nevercake should do a voice pack
More Venus, Mars and Jupiter, right?
do Hades and Thanatos please..
YAY HAPPY ENDINGS! Oh a knife....bloody endings.
Wait he is a son of Ares WTF happens there guess he took more after his mother lol.
Happend
Not entirely he's not supposed to be a baby with a large head he's actuly defectors as looking similar to Thanatos with a large muscular warlike build
Oh OK that makes sense ty.
im guesing hi rez went with the more popular version of the god
If he's the son of Ares that means his brothers are Terror and Panic
Please don't mix this up SMITE :(
the greek and roman gods knew each other and fought a lot
he couldn't go to Jupiter cuz he was in the Greek dominion and thus, had to ask zeus. and Psyche is also a child of Greece.
So cupid is the roman god of love but he is the son of the greek gods of war and buatuty and love? He also goes to ask Zeus from aprooval? Thats doesnt make any sense . I didnt know the roman gods and the greek gods were bffs.
Strange how the god of love had a father who is the god of war
Guess his dad hate him too because he's too much like his mother.
Mikel Hormachea ares was a bitch anyway in the book lol
Wait... You mean Eros?
Better love story than Twilight
See if this were Athena half the gods would be either spiders or snakes
Anyone else want a binding of isaac skin for cupid?
ares and aphrodite are greek and cupid is roman?
Same.
isnt cupid roman???
well, now after S4 started and Hi-Rez finally decided to redesign Vamana, I'm waiting for the Cupid rework. His design and voice are just atrocious
"Wow that was a big head" Thats what she said Kappa
Tentem legendar para aqueles de outros paises possam traduzir e curtir um belo video. =D
MONSTER
Cupid is Smite's answer to the annoying LoL champ Teemo.
no he is not their son. he is venus and mars son
Same bullshit with different names. Also, we don't have Mars or Venus in our game, so don't make sense in talk of then in this video.
+Mario Vinicius ohh I did commented this last year. Sorry, back then I didnt get the humor of this guy... now give me gems... xD
+Mario Vinicius hahahaha yeah I know that feel...
Jajaja, very good episode :D
this is reminded me of south park episode when ike fell in love with teacher.
P.S. cupid .... NICE
