    ABOUT ME:
    Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I founded Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes, drinking gin, eating salted caramel ice cream and most crafts!
    See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x

      I have several smaller pieces which using the hoop for completion would be perfect-as yet I have not actually used a hoop for finishing. So appreciative of the instruction you ladies provide.

      I have done many projects finished with hoops. In fact, I just finished one and am using your 3rd method to finish a project for my husband. Friday, October 21 is our 50th wedding anniversary! I will be doing 4 more for family Christmas gifts. Thank you for your clear and concise instructions! Have a great day!❤

    I’ve used the second method, and thought it was nice. However, the third option you showed is absolutely gorgeous! I can’t wait to try it!!!

    Thank you for such a helpful tutorial! With my background in preservation I quickly picked up your comment on acid free glue, so please consider some other material than cardboard (!) to use as it is very acidic and should be kept away from fabric.

      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  Рік тому

      Thanks so much for watching Donna and for your helpful comment! I believed that with the layers between the stitching and the cardboard, the stitching would be safe but I'll use only mount board going forwards, thanks so much for sharing ☺️

    This was a lovely tutorial and I can’t wait to try it out for some Christmas gifts! Just curious, in the third method is that fabric covered piece glued in or does it stay removable? Thanks for any advice :)

    I want to try the third option. Is it necessary to secure cloth covered cardboard inside the hoop in anyway?

    What kind of, and how do you tie the, knot at the end of the easy method?
    Finally got it done, but not quite the same way you did it.

    Thank you for the tutorial. I was wondering if you wanted to completely cover the back of the hoop with the material what is your best suggestion on doing so? Meaning having no Aida or whatever fabric showing and not having to insert the covered fabric piece fitting into the inner hoop.

    • @StitchesAndDiamonds
      @StitchesAndDiamonds 2 роки тому

      Hi Carmen, thank you so much for watching ☺️ How about cutting out the cardboard piece and leaving it natural like that? You could use some nice kraft cardboard for that. Alternatively you can use a nice card or glue some nice wrapping or decorative paper onto the cardboard instead of the fabric. Hope this helps.
      Happy stitching 🌸

    How do you keep pieces framed in hoops clean since they are not covered with glass?

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  Рік тому +1

      Hi Jodi, thank you for watching 😊 I haven't had an issue with keeping the projects clean so far but I would not recommend this finishing for a true heritage piece that should last decades - that would need to be framed and protected by glass.
      For a regular dusting, you could just use a hairdryer every so often to blow off any dust that is sitting on the hoop/fabric.
      Happy stitching 🌸

    I appreciate that this is supposed to be quick but the stitches were so messy. I want the private side of my projects to be as neat as the front
