Hey brother . I have a cat forklift I use for my home shop. The left fork seems to be about 3/4 to 1" lower than the right, Is this adjusted by the chains ? Great video btw.
Chad Bollinger if the forks are on the same fork carriage then you most likely have a bent fork. If you would like to message me a pic I could tell you. Use my Facebook page to dm and I will take a look. Thanks for watching!
You can for added safety but I normally just changed them one at a time. If you chain and block you can remove all the chains at one time. Thanks for watching! 🍻
@@magnoliamobileservice4534 So adjust it, then check it, adjust again if necessary, correct? I think I’m gonna do this at work, but haven’t installed chains before. I can’t seem to find any videos about it, other than this one. I’ve seen a thousand that show you how to change forks, though lol
@@JakeNaughtFromStateFarm yes just keep adjusting the different sections of chains until the top of the mast rails are all even and there is good tension on all the chains. You don’t want one chain way looser than it’s counterpart
@@magnoliamobileservice4534 Got it. I worked on forklifts a bit at a rental company, then I was a mobile PM tech for forklift company, but didn’t do much other than PMs (hoses, repacked a side shift cylinder once). Never did do chains, but it looks like we’re gonna be doing them here soon. Boss just asked me today how long a chain we need cause they come in sections. Didn’t know I’d have to make it to length until your video.
Hey I’m really enjoying your videos. I’m trying to find some information on lift chain adjustment. I primarily work on 8 series Toyotas
Thank you. I do have a bunch of 3 and 4 wheel Toyotas with FSV masts. Which one would you prefer to see?
The fleets we work on are 8FGU25s, 8FGCU25s and Cat 2C5000s all with single stage masts (all four wheel units)

Magnolia Mobile Service you got it . I’ll take one later on . Thanks
Do you have to block the mastbto replace chains

So when you replace the chains, you have to lift the backside of the chain to the same height as the outer channels?
Thanks for watching and commenting! I adjust the chains until all of the mast rails are even across the top when the mast is fully collapsed

@@JakeNaughtFromStateFarm awesome man glad I could help! Thanks again for watching
Not a good idea to use burning gear to a lift chain. Also next to a battery.
