I use to watch your videos in my dorm room studying to be a teacher and now I am starting as a first year next week.. Thank you for all your encouragement and help!!!
Good luck! I’m in the same boat but just started my second year. It’s so cool to be doing this alongside Michelle! I used to watch and dream of being where she was!
I appreciate that you have blank spaces. When I was a young teacher( back in the 1990s), my district had listed an expectation as "Impoverish decor" in order to focus attention." The students should have some space to rest their eyes that is not decorated to death. And that's not even including the neurodivergrnt kids who may not be able to handle so much stimuli. I look at many of the classroom setups and tours, and they're beautiful. However, I can't imagine living in there throughout the day with all that busy-ness. So, I say brava to you for your selective eye.
Thank you to Billy for great camera work! Not a teacher (School Social Worker) but have been obsessed with your organization, planning and ideas for a few years! Thank you for all you do for kids!
I’m going into social work! I plan on either being at a school, working with elders, or as a substance abuse counselor. Why did you choose to be a school social worker if I may ask?
@@taylormorden8174 I wanted to help kids but I, too, also enjoyed the older population. The deciding factor was being in the right place when the Director of School Social Work was visiting my Advisor. We hit if off, she offered me a job and that was it! I was incredibly lucky and am so grateful to her! I wish you all the best!
Your room looks great! Your color changing lights and lamp remind me of something my team teacher does; she has the lights change to a specific color when she is teaching (or with small groups) so the students know it's not a good time to interrupt and then she changes to a different color when it would be a good time to do things like go to the bathroom, walk around, ask individual questions, talk quietly etc.
Home girl no.. it looks amazing! Two tips for you based on your day one set up. 1. Cordless hot glue gun! So much easier than a stapler. For hanging anything. But also Velcro dots are amazing for quick hanging and removal. 2. When cutting felt use water just dampen the felt where you want to cut it and then cut it so much easier!!!
I love how clean and organized it is, with pops of color and plenty of space to stretch out. Your classroom is calm, yet inviting. If I were a child, I would be very relaxed in this setting...same goes for their parent in me. It's perfect!
I've been retired for 3 years now but I still love to see classroom setups. I miss the fun part of setting up for a new year. Your room is lovely, not overwhelming and super organized.
As a fellow teacher, we spend a lot of money as educators. Amazon loves teachers. I’m on there all the time as well. Your room looks great! Have a great year!
Nothing pumps me up to teach more than classroom setups and tours!! I spend lots of time on Amazon and MS Paint practicing layouts to help myself in the future. I am not supposed to graduate for about 2.5 more years but I think often about what grade I'll end up in. Thanks so much for walking us around :)
Happy Saturday, Michelle! I absolutely adore your classroom; it looks amazing! I can tell from the tone in your voice and the smile on your face that you are so pumped. I am overjoyed for you and I'm sure your students are going to love the space and have a the classroom community that it fosters! Best wishes as you begin the school year! 💜
The room looks beautiful…..Have a great year back. I am heading into my second year of retirement and am a little jealous. I used to get so excited buying stuff for my room and setting up. Enjoy .
If you don't already have a system for this, What about using the bins at the top of the book shelf from daily worksheets etc. Label them Monday through Friday and then you can just walk to the bin in the morning and have everything you need for the day right there.
If I learnt in a classroom like this - I would have loved going to school. Love bright colours too. Unfortunately, I am a high school teacher teaching in an open plan school. My desk is a catering trolley. Like you. It's black with coloured materials. However, I am a full digital teaching teacher (MLE - Modern Learning Environment). Sometimes I miss teaching in a single cell room but actually like teaching in an open plan. Pros and cons of both. Let's say, I am extremely exhausted by the end of the day, though.
I feel as if you are talking directly to me in this video. I can truly feel the passion that has been re-ignited in you. How lucky your students will be to have a master teacher❤❤❤ I have followed you for quite some time. You continue to re-ignite my teaching passion, as well. (I have been a teacher since 1988…..not sure I will be able to move on to my next adventure❤❤❤❤❤❤)
I also started watching you years ago when I was fresh in my teaching journey. Your videos were so helpful especially the tech ones! I love your calm demeanor & am so glad you are posting from the classroom again 💜. I wish you & all my fellow teacher pals a safe & successful school year.
Since you have your rainbow drawers next to each other, you can put a piece of plexiglass on top to give you more shelf space but more importantly it will protect them from getting more damaged.
An idea: Your clock is probably set to the default year. Go back into edit mode where the date is and try changing the year there so the day will change. Happy new school year! 😊
Awesome! Your classroom looks fantastic, Michelle! Wow! You think of everything, and it all makes sense. Special thanks for all the work that you put into your videos, including listing links to items you use. I have one in my cart right now.😊 I have to say I’ve never seen a classroom with so much storage space! Another wow!! Have a fabulous school year! 🙌🙏👏
I love how excited you are for back to school! My district is going to be using the interactive panels for the first time this year so that will be a learning curve for me, however I am excited to see different ways I can use it in lower elementary! Have a great school year, I have Meet the Teacher on Monday!
This is my first year teaching 4th grade; I used to teach secondary. I love your color choices--it what I use also. Boho is beautiful, but I prefer the brighter classroom.
Your room looks fabulous!! Your students are going to love learning from you in such a happy environment! 24 Game is one of my all time faves! Hope you have a super year!
Loving that you're going back to the classroom, that is so exciting. Hope you'll keep updating us on digital tools too ! So many ideas from this to add to my own high school classroom too!!
Thank you for sharing your great ideas! I love the Treatment Agreement and the "Let's Talk" boards. I always look forward to your videos and would love to see how your classroom transforms throughout the year. I hope you have a good first week of school and school year. :)
Please make a video on your first week of school plans! I saw the one you made from 2019 and wasn't sure if your activities would mirror those from that video
Love the room and I think the clean lines and empty space is almost a positive with kids today. They are very overstimulated as is and also it gives plenty of space to display awesome student work.
HOLY MOLY! I am in awe of how beautiful this room is! I wish I could implement so many of these ideas, but being a high school teacher where my room changes every period, it's basically impossible. You give me so much inspiration!
Your room is awesome. I have a GIGANTIC room (STEM lab) but I labeled everything too. It makes it so much easier to find what I need quickly while kiddos are in the midst of projects.
If you have (or will read) "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics," you will see why all that white board space is a GIFT! So much space for the students to work together. Your room looks great. Please don't put too much pressure on yourself (easier said than done...but POSSIBLE 🤍!) Happy New (School) Year!
My goodness! Your hair looks so wonderful! It’s like it was professionally done just for the video. I’m not even a teacher now, I used to be for preschool for two years and I just love your organization. I never thought about having that black base with all the color pops. But also when I used to teach I didn’t have that much room to decorate. Anyways, I love your classroom, you’re super cute, super Duper fit. Very, very wonderfully jealous in the best way possible. ❤❤❤❤❤
Such a fun video! This space is truly inspiring. Your students are going to feel right at home in this classroom! It only gets better from here! I love that your school focuses on communication. I think it is a skill that is lacking tremendously in today’s youth!
At my school, we just called it out our touchscreen or our clear touch if that helps. If you don’t have a remote clicker, I would recommend one. So glad to see you are back in the classroom. Hope you have a great year!
Such a beautiful classroom! You did an amazing job. You definitely gave me some inspiration for when I begin setting up my first classroom in a couple of weeks. Thank you!
It looks amazing!! I will definitely be purchasing those accountable talk bulletins for my teachers to hang in their classrooms for math instruction!!!
I just graduated with my bachelors in ECE. I live in MD. I also have a teacher toolbox that I spray painted to use in my classroom. I am very organized and don't want to miss having a specific supply in my room. Could you make a checklist of all the supplies you make labels for? I thought this would be a nice addition for other new teachers.
Question about the back to school quote activity… are you letting them come up with the quote or are you providing like a list of quotes that they might identify most with… or maybe a combination of both?
You are the organization master! I just thought of a new side business for you! I'd give you a sum of money to completely transform my room! 😀 But seriously, such an organized, visually satisfying and welcoming room! Well done! You must start back this coming Monday. Good luck, to you! Have fun meeting new friends and getting to know your building!
Having a number line would be helpful. Also, having math manipulatives and tools available and visible so kids can choose and use the most appropriate materials without teacher direction.
I love your storage. Our district is building a brand new school that we will be moving into next fall. I think they dropped the ball by not having upper cabinets for storage.
I miss my doorbell for my classroom…. While I was out sick for 3 months… my doorbell went missing and 4 of my file boxes were broken and nothing was done about it, I had 50 books stolen . I was out with Covid fighting to live. My administration was a joke! She was extremely mad I didn’t answer my phone( I couldn’t talk it took everything just to breathe) she was even more mad that I would not do lesson plans while I was gone. (By the way I was in the hospital) when I did return all I heard was how I let my team down, my fault for getting Covid ( from a student). Side note all the worksheets / curriculum was identical to the other team members… so all they needed to do was make extra copies and a copy of the notes that were shared. This is just one small part of what went down.
Wow American classrooms are wild.... so many plastic tubs and everything from amazon. Do you get a class budget?? Huge classroom and great that it has a sink. What is the class size?? I have taught internationally for 12 years. I don't spend anything on set up- it is all supplied for me. Props to you for going all out. Maybe less plastic though? Upcycle cans & trays... just my thoughts x

Me too! I am 8 months into my first year teaching and started watching Michelle in Year 12. Teacher goals

I feel like it's too much. Too many colors, not enough restful spaces.
I love it!
Since I'm 10+ years in, I don't even over decorate my classroom. I find simplicity in it being simple and not overcluttered with decor
Yep. That & offering space for larger student work examples (eg: posters, dioramas, etc).
@@jessicasimpson5217good thing ur opinion doesn't matter

Same, it’s not cluttered and overwhelming.
You’re videos many years ago inspired me to go into teaching and now I am almost done with my degree! So glad you are back to teaching!!
