  • In the highlands of Scotland, the Morag lays in waiting. In one of the deepest lakes in the British Isles swims a camera-shy monster that resembles a giant snake. Morag is the nickname given to a loch monster believed by some to live in Loch Morar, Scotland. It is among the most written-about of Scotland's legendary monsters. "Morag", a Scottish female name, is a pun on the name of the loch. Reported sightings date back to 1887, and numbered 34 incidents by 1981.

Sadly the narrator is intended for a dumbed down audience. I'll never know why half the shots of Loch Morar are actually Loch Shiel 40 miles away. This would be better condensed to about 8 mins.

Loved visiting Loch morar in the 80s and 90s. In my younger days I went with one of my pals and sometimes brother camping. Became good friends with some locals at the time. Would go up on evenings and visit them, having many chats about the monster in the Loch. Described like an eel with fins. One day we were shown part of a kneck bone washed up on the shore line, never seen anything like that before. Definitely had a few drams after that!

Dismissing the unknown "wakes" of boats sounds plausible but for the fact that some saw with binoculars there was no boat present. This mystery endures because legitimate curiosity is yet unsatisfied. Very sophisticated underwater equipment would be helpful as the water is quite clear. Best wishes

It's entirely possible that a group, or 'gang, or 'posse' of large creatures - probably a group of Sasquatch - have, at some time in the remote past, hitchhiked from Glasgow and established a swimming club somewhere in or near the loch.

A loch and a lake are entirely different. There is only 1 lake in Scotland and that is the Lake of Menteith. Loch Morag and Loch Ness were joined underground in the past.
