Bluey has Granny cars which is a massively popular part of the show as fans know. Would have been easy to make it Bluey themed. That being said, I'm more excited for a new kiddie coaster even though I know a lot of people will miss Postman Pat.
I was obsessed with postman pat when I was little. I had everything videos, plates, clothes. I remember taking my collection of videos everywhere I went like to respite and my grandparents. Happy days 😊
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Rollercoaster Restaurant bookings seem to be closed, I guess as we're out of season, do you have any idea when booking reopens? Thank you!
Think this is a huge shame! Rides like postman pat go down really well for babies and toddlers, a lot of toddlers don’t like coasters. Retheming to Bluey would have been a better choice- changing the PP car to the Bluey orange SUV - much cheaper to do too!
I don't think it's wise to replace non coasters with coasters as a lot of kids this age are scared of coasters. I would like it as an addition, but I think the best thing to do is to focus on non coasters at this age range. I would love for Gangsta Granny to be moved here and rethemed as it's a good my first dark ride, but then knock down the whole of David Walliams Land and do something different with that area.
It's such a shame as again Postman Pat was my childhood, I never had the chance to experience the ride and taking it away is kind of disrespectful to the memories of the late John Cunliffe and Ken Barrie. RIP to them.
8:30: One of the documents has a key for the queue lines; Red is the main queue, yellow is Ride Access Pass and green is the accessible exit path (the regular exit has steps).
With that ride layout, I wonder if it'll be more like an elevated dark ride, where you are looking down at Bluey inspired scenes, similar to Skyride at Legoland but sped up a little bit. Feels like if it is Bluey, there would be some Bluey figures somewhere along the ride route to look at?
Going with my youngest who is 1 years old, In The Night Garden, Postman Pat, Get Set Go and Bugbie Go Round are the only rides he could go on in the whole park. So this feels like a very sad and poor decision for young families.
I actually think this could work really well. It makes me think of Dino Chase at Paulton’s Park, which was my daughter’s first coaster at 15 months old. No height restriction, you just have to be 1 yr old as minimum. You get 3 laps, it’s got great theming, and is perfect for the really small kids - and great for parents to be able to take them on a coaster. As a short child, she was 4 before she could ride Octonaughts, so that is a 3 year gap this could fill.
I mean its good to see a new ride coming to cbeebies land, i agree with what you said about them not focusing on other things and randomly building a new coaster, unless they may be focusing on things that need sorting and this new coaster at the same time? 100% a mixed bag
I reckon that this ride will get relocated to Chessington for their new children’s themed area for 2026 because both parks have rides/themed areas coming out the same year, also both parks are Merlin and often when a Merlin park gets rid of a ride that ride often goes to another Merlin park
id imagine that ride system will get sold or relocated elsewhere in the park also could they have got creative the planning application to make it look more tame than it actually is like they did with the smiler to hide the inversions
Completely agree - Disappointing, my little one is 4yo he’s 1.05m tall - loves octonauts which is great luckily. So last year they raised the minimum height for RMT to 1.1 after it being 0.9 for years and years - he got to ride it when he was 0.95m then Towers changed the ride height to 1.1 in 2024 ?!?! Why ?!?!? ..There’s nothing for kids 4 5 odd years old / less than 1.1 but are over 0.9 and 1.0 - when their love for AT (especially my little one) is really taking off. I want more for him than just octo. Also removing blade (1.0m) was a disappointment.. was really hoping for this one to be the bridge as you mentioned between kind of babyish rides to RMT and then the 1.2’s and onward… there’s not a lot in that gap and this would of been the perfect opportunity. This is the trouble you’ll find when yours gets to 3 / 4 years old and is 97cm or even 1.05m there’s not a lot for them to go on… Cheers Sean, see you at Towers again soon I’m sure, kindest regards, James (31) Heidi (29) and Lake (4) x Wishing all three of you guys good health for 2025 mate - congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
I do agree that it’s a short coaster but in a large space where Postman Pat is. Surprised that a no height restriction ride is being replaced with a height restriction roller coaster…
R.I.P., Postman Pat Parcel Post at Alton Towers Resort (2014-2025) 😭😢 I'm sad to see this enjoyable family ride get removed from the park. However, I'm excited to see the new Junior coaster coming to Cbeebies Land. Now, as for where would the ride go, I predict that we could see it being relocated to Chessington World of Adventures, as part of their new children's themed area in 2026.
Just a speculation moment, I think that this probably-Bluey themed ride might not be a junior coaster, more a small version of a ride model probably by Mack rides or maybe intamin, and it might have a small launch with a couple of helixes, like velocity (flamingo land) but scaled down.
Shocking to hear that Postman pat will be closed permanently. on the good side though, we have brand new themed Lands opened in time for the school holidays. both of them are on The Gold Coast, that being Rivertown in Dreamworld and The Wizard of Oz in Warner Bros Movie World. please check both of them out Shawn.
There was mention on a vlog that Alton Towers were going to get the Waveswinger and Dodgems from Chessington as they were going to be taken out for their new area, do you think this will happen.
Completely agree, my exact thoughts as soon as I saw these plans earlier. I can see why they would remove postman Pat for the space and IP but removing a non height restricted ride for something that’s likely to be at least 0.9 isn’t a great call since the low availability already for under 0.9. I really hope they do make use of the space and that the layout is more than it looks because if not that’s very poor. If they were set on a coaster, I feel a coaster that’s in between Octonauts and Mine train thrill level would have been perfect because not only will they be lacking for under 0.9 now I feel the 4-6/7 year old gap is lacking too especially after the removal of blade and increased height limit on mine train. It makes me sad with it being my local park, I found it magical for me at any age growing up and working there but it’s getting a bit disappointing now! 😢
Project sunshine definitely hints at (Australian) Bluey. Postman Pat was basic as hell and needed a retheme for sure, but removing it for a duplo dino type coaster seems mental. There’s so much that needs sorting at towers and spending budget on this is wild. They can’t make enough money off the £25 parent and child mid-week tickets to make this kind of an investment valid
Great news update video Shawn from After already announcing that 3 attractions will be leaving Alton Towers for the 2025 season, plans for a NEW Junior Coaster reveal that ANOTHER ride will be leaving the park in the near future. In this video I talk about the removal of Postman Pat Parcel Post in CBeebies Land along with taking a detailed look at the plans for what looks to be a very short Junior Coaster. keep news the good videos coming on the channel, Shawn. 😀👍👍👍👍👍
We literally rode this for the first time at the Santa sleepover this December, my little boy (he’s 1) loves postman Pat and we stopped in the CBeebies hotel in a postman Pat room and met him there too I suppose they might get rid of the room and character too 😢 I do understand he’s not very current as we watch him on UA-cam not live telly but very sad indeed 😢 glad we did it all when we did for him!
I wouldn’t complain about it being a coaster instead of a retheme because it might hint that things could be looking up interms of investment, yes it’s small but it’s something x
I understand what they are going for, but I don’t think they made the right call here. Octonaughts is so tame, so making a ride even tamer might not attract as many people, or it might take people away from Octonauts as Bluey is currently more popular. I agree that they should have made a ride that is a step up from Octonauts, but not as intense as rwmt or spinball Whizzer.
It would need good theming to justify the scale. The could be a somewhat 'thrilling' element like a drop. They could do the opposite and have the train go more slowly round the track. Which may allow you to take in the theming more. A stepper drop would likely bring up the age limit to 1m which I don't think would be a good idea for the area. Possibly they have it lower than 90cm which would make it the most accessible Merlin coater.
Could it be an SBF Visa ride, maybe they are going to have a dark ride section in the station area and lots of theming or could their be a flat ride in the middle.
To me it seems like they have to add in a new ride due to the IP contract and they are lacking space so are just going to start removing or retheming the older rides, also considering how compact Octonauts is it is disappointing that this looks to be a waste of space.
Hey there Shawn and Charlotte hay makes a change you are not in the museum of theme parks and so looking forward to seeing your baby in June wow I just can’t believe you and Charlotte will be officially be parents and let’s hope no more after the first one Shawn and you can show your theme parks pacs and cups and mech too I love you so millions Shawn and Charlotte xxxx
Maybe it a short track, as it's the ride car which has a complex movement on it, this is why it has a maintenance shed, as it may need more complex off track maintenance on it.
I think the removal of Parcel Post was inevitable, considering that Postman Pat has been out of production since 2017 and its relevance has been slowly dwindling among younger audiences ever since.
@ Well I think removal was a good idea. At least this means the towers will be getting a completely new roller coaster for the first time in 8 years, and it’ll give the young ones a choice between Octonauts and whatever the new coaster will be themed to. And on top of that, 2 roller coasters in CBeebies land will help to build up their tolerance for bigger roller coasters.
In that space you probably would be able to fit a coaster like duplo dino and possibly two flat rides oh no Alton towers are using all the space that would fit another ride For queue line. The coaster it self is very small considering the space and why it needs a maintenance shed for a one train small coaster unless the maintenance shed isn't just for the coaster but for the whole of the land
Big shame postman pat was one of the last rides in the park for children scared of heights. Cbeebies land only really has in the night garden as rides anyone can ride
With all the issues they are having at towers at the moment I can’t understand why they think this is a good idea. It should be spending what available money they have sorting out the rides to make them more reliable and to replace the rides that have been taken out over the last decade The park is desperate for more flat rides? It’s absolutely shocking they are not replacing the blade but yet another pirate ship ride.
Bluey I think is a bit overated because as the years go on Alton Towers are going to build this but years go so fast and it might only last 5 or 4 or 6 years and then be replaced agian
Could it be a simple layout as it’s a rollercoaster that is for super small kids ie lower than 0.9? Is that even a thing? If so then that would be great as it fills the spot postman pat has left well
That’s such a shame as it’s great for little ones, my girls loved it! Would they give you anything from it to keep as you help the park so much or do they sell the parts off, or just bin it?
Was hoping to take my kiddies this year so hopefully I can get them on before it’s gone I’ll have to find someone to go with me 2 kids 1 adult is awkward seating 😂
All I want is if they get rid of things to make something better. But my trust in AT is low at present. You should always make rides the best you can and no cutting corners and cheap. If you stick with this mindset you eventually end up with a quality park with rides that last. I fully agree with you on surely a reworking and theme would of been the move here. And more in the pot for another project in areas I feel need more attention . Personally I really think Alton towers needed a big announcement this year after a lot of unhappiness with the park. A top spin ride is not a pull saying we must go !
Another one of the very few rides that a single visiting parent with two young children can actually go on. What that area didn’t need was a slow processing, low thrill, very short family coaster. Do they even have focus groups because it’s like they do not understand the profile of guests or perhaps they just don’t care. Another slap in the face for Merlin pass holders, they’re making some very strange decisions at the moment .
I have a theory we actually haven't seen the layout of this coaster yet. I think that grey outline is just the parameter of the track. So I'm remaining optimistic.
Postman Pat is timeless. Its an IP that many parents who now have children grew up with. I feel removing timeless IPs are making the park worse. Thomas Land at Drayton is a timeless IP. We need this at towers. This Coaster layout is appauling. The park is litterally falling apart at the seams 😭 its so so sad to see
I was expecting something with the extremity level of the dragon but it looks abit more like the duplo dino coaster. Ig its alright though as we have had quite alot of big coaster investments. Lets just hope project horizon is going to be a bigger ride then just a little family ride.
I've not seen ONE positive reaction this news. Would it be possible for Alton Towers' reaction is to scrap the plans?... I'd like to think they aren't that oblivious to their target audience's views.
It kind of feels like building a coaster for the sake of it. Like imo they needed a new coaster there. But a slightly higher thrill. like its just another octonauts. I genuinely feel like a postman pat retheme to bluey would make a better return on investment than this. Im hoping we atleast get another flat ride in 2026 though but time will tell
I love post men pat that was my childhood but ngl I know I am not the target audience for bluey but idk as I love it sooooooo much. But that layout hopefully that scrap it.
It does seem quite an appropriate layout for a junior coaster, but I'd rather have a car ride, personally. Everyone can enjoy a car ride, and with the right theming, they can be one of the best family rides in any park. Hopefully Alton will build a new one elsewhere, and perhaps a modern monorail as well.
Bluey has Granny cars which is a massively popular part of the show as fans know. Would have been easy to make it Bluey themed. That being said, I'm more excited for a new kiddie coaster even though I know a lot of people will miss Postman Pat.

It’s definitely a coaster as you can see the lift hill in the plans! 😃
I think it’s pretty clear that won’t be the track layout, it’s more just a representation. Like the purple blocks for the theming stuff

Talking about queue lines, it seems Alton Towers love a meandering queue line now after Nemesis Reborn...
Keeping people queuing for longer (even if it’s walking down the meandering queue line) helps absorb capacity, I guess?
Great news update as always Shawn
Thank you!
@ you’re welcome
tbh im not too upset its nostalgic but im sure the next coaster will be good for young thrill seekers!
I hope the ride isn't just thrown in the scrap, if another park can make use of it. Maybe BPB can use it within Nickelodeon Land and retheme it.
Hopefully we see it located somewhere else in the park
Losing blade didn't bother me. Losing corner coffee's outdoor terrace I'm finding strangely upsetting :)
The maintenance will be much easier to be on the site indeed. Nowadays at 11:25 that is.
PS Yes. as for you and Charlotte to get the sun as quick which it’s to give the cold weather in our country more space at 12:45.
I recon this ride system could go to Legoland or somewhere like that it's a decent size for a kids and family park
Possibly so!
Even though I'm eying for this ride to be relocated to Chessington, I think that Legoland Windsor would make the most sense.
Maybe postman pat might get a replacement with another flat ride as postman pat themed
Agreed. It seems to badly use the space available. They could've easily done more.
Sadly so
I understand what they are going for, but I don’t think they made the right call here. Octonaughts is so tame, so making a ride even tamer might not attract as many people, or it might take people away from Octonauts as Bluey is currently more popular. Bluey is taking over anything, but it will be a great addition to the park.
Should put it inside the dungeons building and theme it up to dark forest is the boat is too expensive to operate
Would love to see them install a major new dark ride in there
Part of me thinks this is cuz of the licensing. Postman Pat is owned by Dreamworks so maybe the IP has expired?
great show shawn any butlin’s ones coming up 😃
Stay tuned more Butlin’s content on the way later in the year when baby Sanbrooke arrives!
It just seems there’s no decent new investments at what should be Merlin’s flagship.
This definitely wasn’t the priority in my opinion
It would need good theming to justify the scale.
The could be a somewhat 'thrilling' element like a drop. They could do the opposite and have the train go more slowly round the track. Which may allow you to take in the theming more.
A stepper drop would likely bring up the age limit to 1m which I don't think would be a good idea for the area. Possibly they have it lower than 90cm which would make it the most accessible Merlin coater.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Is that is? That was the first thought when I saw this rollercoaster
It’s very small, even for a junior coaster
Could it be an SBF Visa ride, maybe they are going to have a dark ride section in the station area and lots of theming or could their be a flat ride in the middle.

Also don’t have much hope for Get Set Go’s future.
It seems so
Hopefully we’ll see 7 or 8 laps instead of 2 or 3
Whilst I appreciate there isn’t the room at postman pat, a Bluey dark ride would be much better use of the ip.
Would love to see a dark ride in the area!

@ let's hope so if not it's a very poor investment which looks like a cash in IP ride knowing kids will ride anything with a Bluey sticker on it
I think the removal of Parcel Post was inevitable, considering that Postman Pat has been out of production since 2017 and its relevance has been slowly dwindling among younger audiences ever since.

Bluey I think is a bit overated because as the years go on Alton Towers are going to build this but years go so fast and it might only last 5 or 4 or 6 years and then be replaced agian
Reminds me of a Marcel Vos MicroCoaster 😂
Could it be a simple layout as it’s a rollercoaster that is for super small kids ie lower than 0.9? Is that even a thing? If so then that would be great as it fills the spot postman pat has left well
Possibly, however it’s doubtful
If it has straight track, it could maybe have elements like a junior big dipper. That could be interesting...
Maybe so!
That’s such a shame as it’s great for little ones, my girls loved it! Would they give you anything from it to keep as you help the park so much or do they sell the parts off, or just bin it?
I can see them either keeping this ride and relocating it or selling it to another park!
@themeparkworldwide, its a MASSIVE shame to see this ride go! I first went to Alton Towers in 2014 and i loved that ride ever since, BIG MISS 😢❤
It’ll be missed!
Was hoping to take my kiddies this year so hopefully I can get them on before it’s gone I’ll have to find someone to go with me 2 kids 1 adult is awkward seating 😂
Wow, a crazy caterpillar ride is more thrilling than that.
Literally is
Awesome News. Hopefully Be Back At Towers soon
Bring on the 2025 season!
@ThemeParkWorldwide Deffo Mate. Hopefully see u and Charlotte Soon At Towers. Hopefully Charlotte Is Doing Well With The Pregancy Mate xxx
Definitely. It seems like a strange investment to me!
Project sunshine screams Teletubbies to me
Exactly my thought too!
Maybe so!

?
i don't know the NEW Junior Coaster themed and name.
I have a theory we actually haven't seen the layout of this coaster yet. I think that grey outline is just the parameter of the track. So I'm remaining optimistic.
Maybe so, usually though these sort of plans show the full layout!
Postman Pat is timeless. Its an IP that many parents who now have children grew up with. I feel removing timeless IPs are making the park worse. Thomas Land at Drayton is a timeless IP. We need this at towers. This Coaster layout is appauling. The park is litterally falling apart at the seams 😭 its so so sad to see
I can't wait for this new junior rollercoaster.
Looking forward to seeing it. Just hoping it’s more exciting for the little ones than it appears!
Best ride in the whole park for a single run round roller coaster shaun buy merlin and work your magic pal
I'm a bit mix about this new ride and I'm going to miss postman pat parcel post it's a child classic for me❤
Hi Shawn it’s sad that you won’t get to take your child on the postman pat ride😔But it will be amazing seeing your kid going on the new bluey ride
I guess it all depends when the ride closes! Hopefully they’ll ride it before it closes later this year 😃
I was expecting something with the extremity level of the dragon but it looks abit more like the duplo dino coaster. Ig its alright though as we have had quite alot of big coaster investments. Lets just hope project horizon is going to be a bigger ride then just a little family ride.
It does look very small for the site this takes up!
Shame, i wanted a Vekoma family boomerang. It would've brought something new to the park
Definitely
this is Alton All over at the moment, doing everything upside down. they need a full new team in there as this is going lower than low
I've not seen ONE positive reaction this news.
Would it be possible for Alton Towers' reaction is to scrap the plans?... I'd like to think they aren't that oblivious to their target audience's views.
I doubt that they’ll change these plans now
It kind of feels like building a coaster for the sake of it. Like imo they needed a new coaster there. But a slightly higher thrill. like its just another octonauts. I genuinely feel like a postman pat retheme to bluey would make a better return on investment than this. Im hoping we atleast get another flat ride in 2026 though but time will tell
Definitely
I love post men pat that was my childhood but ngl I know I am not the target audience for bluey but idk as I love it sooooooo much. But that layout hopefully that scrap it.
Cntrl Alt(on) Delete Towers is more likely. If the Towers remain, their becoming pretty old and scruffy. 😇
😢 my son loved postman pat ride when we visited in 2022 😢
It does seem quite an appropriate layout for a junior coaster, but I'd rather have a car ride, personally. Everyone can enjoy a car ride, and with the right theming, they can be one of the best family rides in any park. Hopefully Alton will build a new one elsewhere, and perhaps a modern monorail as well.
Definitely. Hopefully they relocate and theme this!
ANOTHER Alton Towers Ride REMOVAL & NEW COASTER Plans Revealed!
Theme Park Worldwide love louis shirley
Why does Merlin love to short change us all on ride length regardless of the target audience
