    we have these plum sets in our institution stocked for years because nobody wants to use it anymore simply because many new nurses do not know how to operate the machine. but with this video, it made me want to go back to using plums sets. thank you!

    I 2nd the comment from 2 years ago. I've been trying to find a video that shows back priming on the plum A pump for the piggy back. I was so excited to see it was a video that had primary and piggy back but the secondary line wasn't back primed at all, not even manually. Please add a video with the back priming on the pump if possible. Other than that GREAT video. Perfect explanation. Thank you.

    we've been using this IVpump in our hospital, and the way they taught us was a bit complicated leaving us nurses to look for our own ways ..like me, thru YT, if they could have taught us this way , it would have been simple & clear. Well that was years ago but maybe it was all so new to them too....Thank you for the video

    You didn't show how you switch the white cap on top of the cassette to the blue one that put on IVPB. I wonder how you do IVPB with the white cap on top of the cassette. Would you please share?

    that piggy back tubing was full of air... dont you have to either prime it with the piggy back fluid or back prime with your pump?

  • @susanhuwaldt5044

    With the syringe of Vancomycin you just infused the last 10-15ml of Vanco at a rate of 200ml/hr!! (i believe the primary tubing holds 19mls total) YIKES. I see this ALL THE TIME! You need to adjust your primary rate to match your secondary rate until ALL of the medicine is infused. The tubing and the cassette hold a significant amount of medicine when you are infusing at these lower rates. Zosyvn at 12.5ml/hr you are then giving the last hour of Zosyvn over a 5min period of time.

    • @PurpleFlower22
      @PurpleFlower22 2 роки тому

      You don’t have to stop it just do standby. This way you don’t have to reset, just edit the rate and start it again

    How in the world is this efficient with titrating pressors by dose? Changing the rate is not how anything is titrated. Lawsuit waiting to happen.

    This is the worse IV pump I've ever encountered. Too cumbersome very bulky and heavy the IV tubing takes forever to prime and seems to always alarm system check failure having to place a syringe on the piggy back and back prime to get this so-called IV pump to work. CCF uses the SMART Pump very efficient universal tubing and compact space saver. Thank goodness I no longer have to use the plum an antiquated machine.

    So stupid a system. I don't understand when the market has Baxter, good enough, why things like Plum even exist. Ine hand can handle baxter but you need both hands to pick up this pump. heavy like hell. nurses with carple tunnle syndrome basically cannot handle this IV pump with one hand. The tubing, soecific to the pump. that means it's going to be very expensive. the clamp...roller clamp is way more convinient than this clamp. all these figures just make you click more and takes more time to prime an IV. It's like nurses don't already have enough ENR charting to do. now you have spend more time on a simple IV .

    • @annegreen6731
      @annegreen6731 5 років тому

      The answer is simple. It is about safety. I have seen a medic take IV Lidocaine and Nitro off a pump to transfer a pt into a bed and bolus them with them because they did not realize it was open when off. The default for this one is closed when off. All of the new bells a whistles have a learning curve for us nurses, but if in the end they prevent even one sentinel event, it is a win.
