This is a good reborn/revenge-plot story with good actors and a strong revenge-arc. I seem to have seen this before or perhaps the same story with different actors. I liked this strong/capable FL and powerful/fierce ML. Despite the nonsense subs and the annoying music in the background, this is a nice watch. SYNOPSIS - SPOILER ALERT!!! FL is the daughter of the General and now the Empress after helping the man she loves to take the throne. Returning in victory from the latest battle, she discovers that another woman (2FL), the first daughter of the Prime Minister, has taken her place beside the Emperor (2ML). Since he no longer needs FL and is afraid of her and her powerful family, they are framed for treason. FL’s family is executed and herself given poisoned wine by this evil concubine. She dies, regretting having supported the wrong person to ascend the throne, swearing to make them pay in the next life. But just as she is dying, she meets a woman in the spirit world who is the second daughter of the Prime Minister. She was attempted to be hanged by her evil (third) sister and her minions. She offers FL to take over her body and excerpt their common revenge. And FL agrees. Now reborn with another face and the identity of the second sister of 2FL, FL starts to deal with those who hurt the body’s original owner and herself. And what better way is there but to make an alliance with the only man as powerful as, or even more powerful than the Emperor, the Regent (ML)? A man that used to be her and the Emperor’s sworn enemy. Soon, FL is entangled with this powerful and fierce man, as she excerpts her plans for revenge. Well, this has a happy ending.
My only wish is that with such a decent script and actors they could have filmed it as a straight out movie. The conspiracies that the ML and FL had to unravel were pretty well written and they both presented their characters really well.
The FL and ML are bad-ass vicious revengers. It's like they are the villains (cause of their cruelty) but also the hero in this story as well. Overall, the film is good except for the annoying background music on the first part and the many wrong subtitles. Aside from that, this Cdrama has some potential. Cause the FL here is smart and strong. She can fight and get out of sticky situations she is in.
Overall a goood watch as the pay back starts as soon as FL was reborn. However, Iike many other dramas, the stepsister and the minor offenders get more retribution than the main villains who were simply killed off at the end 😅 I even suspected the 3FL actress payed for the production as she gets as much screen time. Alao, I know this movie team is notorious for it's bad bgm and wierd close up shots of faces. The actress who played the FL was good in other dramas. But, in this movie she over acts to the point that I think she took acting lessons from the Joker. It's trully a bit much, breaking the flow as she is the only one who over acts. Kind of disappointed as the novel was more balanced.
*_this movie had a tough and fighting FL, that was actually convincing, for the most part..she wasn't that good in romantic scenes, for her face has a certain seriousness added to it, compared to other fLs'...the ML, is actually a 2ML, playing villainous parts in other movies and didn't FEEL as the right FIT for the ML..one keeps expecting him to talk something comedic and although he tries his BEST at most to retain that serious attitude and face/gesture, having seen him in modern movies, it is difficult to expect him to behave as the ML...if the leads were different or atleast the ML was different,it would be fine..that said, the background comedic music was rubbish..it took away from the storytelling value and made the actors look a part of comedy..something else should be done,like cutting off sound or adding a suitable music to replace it..viewers find this annoying..the fL worked step by step to kill her adopted father and destroy all her sisters because she is from the gu family, which was killed by this adopted father and the emperor, when he stepped on the throne..the general supports her throughout and in the end, he is shown as the childhood sweetheart and they ascend the throne together..it is also a rebirth story, as some essential scenes are cut off and the FL, in this rebirth sorts things out. normally emperors NEVER allow one person in the court to have power, such that every decision required that person alone..it was spread to avoid corruption and treason..here the ML, as a general/regent, holds a lot of power and there is nO reason for him to do that and eliminate even the prime minister, who is the adopted father of the FL..one guesses due to the constraints in budget, a full court scenes with different ministers arguing was nOT shown, where the ML's decisions could have been curtailed..Anyways it has a happy ending though it was a long monotonous process with comedic music,in the beginning.._*

sometimes, there's mellow copyright free music, all throughout a drama, which is mad annoying, especially in dramas where people are plotting, scheming, and dying. like, chill music when someone discovers deadly info is so jarring and contradictory, it's so hectic. at least this music is suspenceful some. but i agree that all this music is overkill. why can there not be silence/ just times of pure dialogue?

It's funny how the ML so far less likely to be written to choke the antagonist female. 1:15:23 This just got stupid! The only way this won't be an asinine move is if the father is aware. They love to gloat too much, thinking they have everything under control. The minute I see a protagonist gloating I start wishing for their fall, because how stupid can you be when you've not even completed your revenge. My girls Moon and Wei would never dream of gloating before the task was done. Those magnificent ladies know how to handle their revenge. (I miss them) 😢❤

In most low budget scripts the ML usually has violent tendencies and takes it out on the FL when he loses control. Violence against women is very typical in these low budget productions, because of various reasons culturally.
