What an excellent way to thoroughly clean and protect a motorcycle! They're works of art in my eyes, and need to be shown in their best light!
I've just applied some clear Bloq tank grips to the tank of my Scram 411. This will hopefully protect the paintwork, and you can still see the graphics.
The snow foam and ceramics are superb for reaching nooks and crannies on motorbikes!
Brilliant advice for a brilliant bike! Thanks Uncle Stu!
Total respect for you uncle Stu bet that’s the best clean the himmi has had since new
BUT to clean a bike without touching it seems not quite right just got to polish it got to be hands on Old school 👍
Brilliant video as always Stuart and I love these maintenance and how to videos, and that snow foam looks like Christmas 😃👍🏻
Best regards from Australia to you in Yorkshire, Stu.❤
Good morning Stu. A great video. Didn’t notice a lack of film definition really. I’ve never owned a Matt painted vehicle but good to know a method to clean em. I do sort of use this method after a wet winter ride, to get rid of road salt before putting the bike away.
Hi Stu, your video as confirmed my thoughts of the introduction of the matt finish on all makes of bikes and has been a big influence when choosing a new bike. I always go for the gloss option as I love to see the shine after a good polish!
THX Stu! Now i have the urge to clean my bike 😅
An excellent and informative video. I’ve bought cleaning chemicals on your recommendation and they have all worked well. Next in my list is the blower👍
Ha I just bought a lovely Himalaya 450 in a beautiful Matt finish yesterday and now I get this from you Stuart, it's a good job I'm a pragmatist this bites about Warwick can do where it will take me not so much about the shine and sheen it says much a tool as a work of art and as much as I appreciate your video on how to clean it and I've always cleaned all my bike's, I won't feel guilty if it gets a bit used looking but what an interesting video I never even considered maintenance for the paintwork I just looked around the showroom after several test rides appointed at the bike and said, I want that one!
While I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate your content and philosophies, I note that the videos are getting longer and longer since you started doing them "live." There is much more repetition and sameness. I am more reluctant to spend 30-40 minutes to watch content that could be done in 20 minutes back in the old days when you did more voiceovers. I offer these comments only in the spirit of wishing to improve what we all look forward to twice a week.
As another loyal viewer, lifetime rider, and retired marketer, I agree. Maybe I'm just another American with an attention deficit (is that redundant?), but once videos get much above 20min per, I'm strongly inclined to just pass them over.
Thank you so much for your invaluable advice here Stu. I own a Battle Green Royal Enfield Classic 500 and a matt black Himalayan 411. The 500 has more matt paintwork on it than any other bike I have ever seen. It is everywhere!! I now have a shopping list which will allow me to keep them both looking as good as possible. Thanks again 🙂
thanks Richard, and you are welcome.
food for thought, i never even considered it - then again my current bike is a road going enduro so i blast the hell out of it with a jet wash as that is the only way you will clean it - should i get a 'proper' bike as i hope to i will be glad i saw this video
Two questions for you. Q1 When are you opening Uncle Stu's ride in ride out bike cleaning service and Q2 Will I get complementary tea and biscuits while I wait?🤣
I did not know that about matt or satin paint. I think I would buy one of the gloss finish Himalayans now. Thanks.
I am about to have a change of machinery - yes, the 390 is going - but I'll be buying something with a gloss finish. Nick
very wise Nick!
Meow! I thought it was just my Muc Off washer made that noise when you release the trigger ! 😂
Hello Stuart, just to say how much I enjoyed watching this video over breakfast.
I don't know if you know, but AD have now stopped their Extreme motorcycle range of products, I was assured by AD their normal range is of cleaning and protection products are just as good, which is fine by me as I really like their products anyway. The only missing product is a replacement for their chain cleaner, which was really good- I try to avoid aerosol sprays if possible.
Cheers Keith
i spoke to their ceo today about this as i couldnt find it on their site. he assured me that it is still a current product. although they are re packagimg many on their lines, to simplify product identification.
Well demonstrated and some great tips on satin paints as they are a real pain in the ass but do look great IMO 👍🏼
Good one Stu! I was recently looking at RE's US website. They have the ne Himalayan listed to include a "kit" and other accessories. They provide part numbers but no prices. Saw something that looked like those pouches for the front rails. Looking to purchase in the spring. 😊
Looking good
Useful.
Are there any environmental implications with these chemicals.
The results are certainly impressive.
they all meet cirrent environmental regulations.
Any comments on the large dealership Completely Motorcycle going into administration? Love your outlook on motorcycle, capacity and power. 50bhp is enough.
yes two reasons a cost of living crisis and a terrible motorcycling season.
In a previous life I had a job delivering cars which had to be clean on arrival, so usually a car wash jobby. One day I had to deliver a press Mercedes SLK in matt stealth black. Luckily there was an instruction sheet in tbe car, basically saying NO car washes, only clean by hand with approved materials. Also, avoid touching with greasy paws, carefully cleaning any marks without delay. What a nightmare, why anyone would put up with that, I don't know.
As an almost 80-yo rider, apart from an ex-WD BSA M20 that I owned back about three thousand years ago, all the bikes that I've had have had gloss paint. Any further bikes that I buy will also have gloss paint; I'm not at all interested in buying the modern matte/satin finishes; they're just a fad and I really can't see the point of them. BTW, that Magifoam would make for great camouflage in Arctic regions... 😉
Great video, thanks. I've recently bought a Himalayan 450 and I'm looking at streamlining my current cleaning process. I assume its advisable to avoid spraying Magiseal on the brakes and tyres?
just clean your discs before riding
Morning Stewart. I've been laid up feeling rough. So my bike stayed clean as it's been in the garage. Last thing I did was wash and polish it. Sun is out today and I'm feeling better so riding time. I still use a car wax polish on my gloss paint work. Any excuse to be in the garage I expect... Safe riding sir and see you in the next one.
Hi Stu been doing my bike similar to this for over a year now with good results, I recently just painted my front and rear mudguards and will leave them cure over the winter now before
Putting them on in spring but my question is how long would you leave new paint before applying any chemical cleaners or protectant to it ?
that depends on the paint type 2 pack is fine after 24 hours. single pack air cure is more difficult as it can be delayed substantially if its been put on thick. to be on the safe side i would say leave it for 6 months.
Thanks for the advice Stu . 2 pick epoxy primary applied then single pack base coat and clear coat rattle cans.
Oddly enough I was recently looking at swapping my car for a Fiat 500X in satin matt grey. Looked superb online but I was horrified at the number of noticeable scratches all over the car. Checked forums online & virtually all have said avoid - they just can't be cleaned easily by the typical punter like me with little time, basic equipment & a certain level of enthusiastic ham-fistedness. Needless to say I walked away.
Thanks
Thank You James!
…and one of your o-rings on the lance hose is leaking. I’m struggling to find the correct size to replace mine.
just biy an assorted pack from Amazon for about £4. there is usially a suitable size. i only get about 2 years out of them before they perish.
everything on autobright direct seems to be sold out.... bit strange
Stuart you’ve missed your true vocation in life as a full time professional bike valeter 😂😂
Satin or matt finish is a royal PITA my bike looks grubby even after washing.
Is that white rail in the middle of your driveway used for tying up your bike when you mosey on into the saloon, or go in at tea time for your marmite soldiers? The driveway looks more healthy with water soluble cleaners than mine used to, when using the likes of Gunk and Jizer!
That's nice and all but autobrite products seam to always be out of stock. And we can barely get them in Europe in the first place.
i think they struggle to meet demand at times.
Best avoided then, black one looks much nicer anyway
Forget looking after matt paint, spraying it and getting a perfect result is a challenge. Just stick to gloss.
Did the fence need a foam wash!!!!
It's about time of had some attention.
😀👍
If folks have the illusion that a Matt painted bike is easier to care for, where did they get the illusion from?,,, I saw the first Matt paint jobs whilst working at Honda and it looks awfull, looks cheaped out without a clear coat to finish it off.
Thanks
Thank You Raj!
