I have always wanted a sword, since I made a viking shield it needed the Viking sword to go with... but of course I decided to write on it legendary +ULFBERH+T ( Ulfberht) which is my favorite sword :D
The sword is in real size and proportion and fits absolutely amazing in my hand
Overall length: 93.3
Blade length: 78.8 cm (but in the end it came out 78.4)
Blade width: 5 cm
Grip length: 9.6 cm
Weight: 183 grams
If someone reads description maybe can tell me what this P with X and two dots means I would appreciate it :)
I am very sorry but I didn't harden nor temper this blade :(

I have this one and I absolutely love it! (I don't take it off) Small and Light but it is definitely an Epic eye-catcher.
Stay Epic Bros!!

Hey Epic Workshop, what are the dimensions of the pommel? And would you be willing to make a print out template of the pommel and post it? I am a carpenter and I actually made the sword blade and crossguard , but I'm having trouble with making the pommel. Thanks!
2:36 I approve of this technique.
+Square Kiwi Hah 😉 Thank you! 😊
Very nice!
I Like To Make Stuff Thanks Bob :)
The X P is a christian symbol called a christogram(med.greek,Χριστόγραμμα) a symbol of the byzantine empire(before the double-eagle). It was mainly drawn on shields as a symbol against the evil and to prove the christianity of the owner . The thought was that no one christian would dare to injure the name and symbol of Christ,
Awesome explanation!!! Didn't know that about shields 😃
Thank you !! 🤘😊
I’m gonna have to do a little fact checking on that.
I know for certain I’d be enraged to find out some bastards were using the name of my God specifically as a shield against me. Mjolnir, for instance.
I will never for the life of me understand dislikes for awesome, fun, inspiring craftsmanship.
Me neither 🤔 thanks for support Bro 💪
Incredible work. Love it.
Maverick Thanks bro I love your scenes that you make in game engines I would play a game like that :D
looks good, but the grain gives it away. if you could hide that, you would probably fool everyone
@@mercenary-433 that would require filler primer. Or a couple coats of resin.
Yeah, it was a while back when I made this sword
R.I.P file

Mikoki better file than chisels hahah :)
Badass man. Ya never see people (far as I’ve seen) make props with wood now it’s all foam or 3D print 👌🏽
Thanks Bro 🤘 Yeah you are correct !! ⚔️
I really aprecciate the effort and the patient you had, to do this level of work.
Keep it up man. Just, keep it up.
Marcelo Uk. Thank you very much Bro :) A video per week during the summer and 2 jobs are gonna be tough I hope that I will manage it :)
Cheers

no problem sir and thank you for replying.
I haven't read through all the comments but first off: AMAZING WORK! You've inspired me to challenge myself to see if I can achieve a similar result.
Secondly the "P" and "X" are the Greek "Chi" and "Ro", the first two letters of the name of Christ. It is a Catholic symbol that basically means "Jesus"
Thank you a lot Bro 🤘 Yeah I learned 😊 glad you found inspiration 😊
Fantastic work, I have got to try and make one myself, well done fella.
It looks awesome! You know, you remind me my grandpa. We (my family) used to live in a small farm at the outsides of the city and we didn't have too much. So, my grandpa handmade all our toys and things to play with, and his speciality were weapons such as axes, bows and of course swords. Great vids, love them all.
+Adrian Montoya Illustrations Thank you Adrian 😄 I am glad you like it and that it awoke nice memories 😊😍

+Cuong Ho Thank you bro :) yeah hand plane is kind of necessary on this project it makes beveling the edges super easy ;) and pls tell me what is dangerous with pommel? If you throw it maybe hahahah :p

Geeks Wood Shop Thank you bro, stay tuned it's coming :)
The engraved P with the X is a Norse Bind rune (Elder Futhark). The P is the rune for w, and the X is the rune for g. The two dots basically just means that the bind rune stands alone, and that there is not any further inscription. In shorter terms, those to dots are just periods.
The bind rune on your sword was most likely the initials of a Viking warrior who owned the original version of that sword you made; or just the inscription "Wunjo Gebo" which means "Joy Gift"
I'm looking to get into some woodworking myself, and I gotta say that's a beautiful piece you made! I love it, and I'm subbed now! :)
+RenegadeKasper That's awesome :D If you need any help contact me via Instagram :) Thank you very much for your support bro and welcome aboard :)
Moris
You're very welcome! I'll be sure to do that! :D
Really cool
Thanks 🍻🤘
wow! that's beautiful! The only thing I would perhaps change is the spray paint. You could use a chrome paint to make it look more like metal. Actually I've never seen chrome paint for wood, but if it exists, that would look really cool
+LouCanada Thanks bro, maybe that would look better but I never saw that paint for sale :)
holy moly! this is a truly amazing work of art! i do not have words that would, neether could fit in my mouth. just a real Viking could hold a sword like this! this is only one thing and that is a master peace! A god like Tyr could weal this sword. grate job. keep it up!
and congrats with 300 subs! :)
WTFnorway Official Thank you my Viking friend :) I am very sorry, I am writing your reply third time already and it didn't sent :'(

I was doing some research for a future Ulfberht project (still finishing up a xvii type sword in 1084 steel) and I came across your video. It's an awesome build, I wonder how you'd bring a seax to life If you were supplied the finished blade and some elk antler for the handle.
a beautiful sword
Thanks Paul 🤘

Tnx Bro 💚🍺
Just wow
Thank you 😊
If anyone wonders what type of sword this is. Its an Uthbret a viking age sword typically used by wealthier vikings and the skilled blacksmiths that were able to make them. They are usually an ornamental sword and in combat they were replaced by their working cousin, the Sverd.
muy bello trabajo"
+Andres Pizarro Gracias Andres :)

Excellent craftsmanship as always good sir. In curious if you've ever seen the documentary/video where the attempt to remake/forge this same sword?
Thanks Bro 🤘🍺 Yeah I saw it multiple times, the guy with epic beard forges it 😉
Kids must love having you around
+Augustus Sutton I have no kids to play with these yet, I am 21 🤘
But I know that when I was a kid we used to make a lot of swords, bows ,crossbows, shields, even trebuchet once..., less pretty obviously, because they didn't last long 😂
Moris
son, this is beautiful.
+GunsNRoosendael Thanks father :D
Have a nice day :)
Moris
A sword of this fine craftsmanship needs to bear the name +ULFBERH+T.
Thank you Bro 🤘❤️
Skål!!
Nice!
+LordOfTheMods Thanks bro 😉 😊 🍺
Viking swords had a more round tip. They were more generally used for hacking and slicing, not stabbing
True! This is my personal addition for this one 😊
I love the detail on this! Beautiful work and great job on the video as well!! :)
Jon Madsen Thank you very much Jon :)
perfect blade to use against a vampire.
If you say so Bro 😃🤘
