Some have made negative comments in the past about the bike donations and the scrap collectors in previous vids. Comments such as "I bet they go and sell it" etc. Well so what if they do sell it? These people are impoverished, and those who really need the pushbike and have use for it will keep it, and those who really need the money and sell it for the cash will do so. Either way, the pushbike donations are giving great benefit to people who are obviously struggling. What an awesome project this has turned out to be, Troy is becoming famous in the region there as you can see by the line. Helping kids, elderly and impoverished, what more could anyone ask for? Thanks to the donors and thanks Troy, another feel good video. Oh and yes Jay, the boat kids, don't let Troy forget the boat kids!!
Hey there Rob, you've echoed my thoughts entirely, as long as these unfortunate folk benefit from the giveaway - even if they sell them! -I am completely cool with it and seeing those kids faces when they get their wheels is the best Christmas present I could receive. BTW, I've sent Troy enough (Hopefully) to get our boat girls a new bike each plus something for their lovely Mum and I'm hoping that that happens in time for Xmas, fingers crossed! I must admit that I'm loving every minute of the bike giveaway, the response is almost overwhelming and it highlights the extent of poverty and need in this one area alone but it's getting to the point where crowd control is becoming necessary. I'm loathe to suggest it but it might be a good idea to wind this one down so that it doesn't descend into complete mayhem. I think a periodic bike giveaway to coincide with celebratory times like Tet etc. might be the way to go for the future so that they could be planned out and properly catered for (perhaps a different bike shop each time?) and no one would be disappointed which I fear may happen here. Also, there are loads of other deserving folk who Troy can't get to because his time and efforts are being monopolised here, but all in all a Huge Success and A HUGE THANK YOU to my Fellow Donors for bringing light and joy into these wonderful folks lives both young and old.
The boats got frisky and now there are little buoys in the water. Naw. They meant the children who live on cheap boats in the river because they can't afford to live on land. It's featured in some earlier vids.
Hey Rushikesh, the "Boat Kids" I referred to are the four young girls living with their parents on a boat on the river with no electricity etc.. Their parents are both hard workers but impoverished like so many we see in these videos and the girls do not have a decent working bicycle between them. I am determined that they shall each have a brand new bike and have sent a donation to Troy to that end.
