    Excellent review: I bought the slightly smaller GT284 tripod which seems identical in structure. What I don't understand however, is the allen bolt for the base plate which doesn't actually screw into anything below it! All it appears to do is slightly unlevel the apparatus above it so that if you level the ball head with the bubble (or camera level), then rotate it 180 degrees, it is no longer level because the allen bolt has slightly tilted the base plate. Thanks, Barry.

    At last a tripod review that examines the working height in some detail. I am looking for a travel tripod that will fit into a carry-on, closed up, and yet extends to a working height of 150cm excluding the ball head. This is one of a small number. Others that I have found are about twice the price of this one. I also like the add ons - ie short centre column and spikes. Also nice to watch a video that is not presented in an over excited manner. Many thanks

      Hi malcom thanks so much for your feedback. It's very true that there are very few tripods that are this sturdy and packs down to this length. You definitely have to sacrifice a bit of extra weight but I find this tripod amazing value. It hasn't let me down yet. The only tripod I have owned that is on the same level of build quality is a gitzo. They are also about 3 or 4 times more expensive!

    I got the slightly smaller/lighter GT284C version. Pretty nice build quality and most importantly stable. Didn't see anything at the store this good for the price!

      Still happy? About to buy one, but wondering if the 284 is solid enough? Using m43 gear for in studio and some landscape.

    I enjoyed the review and how relaxed it is. Felt like hanging out with you instead of a review actually. Innorel seems to only make top quality stuff. Planning to get the 40mm model and might as well get this one as a travel tripod.

    I had a k&f tripod before but like you said the stability just isn't there especially once you put heavier lenses on it, especially with high resolution bodies. This one is really good for the money and on par with much more expensive ones.

      Hi there I'm so glad you found this review helpful. It's one of the best tripods I have owned so far it hasn't let me down. It's a big heavier than other £400 plus tripods but it's really sturdy a d with an eight year guarantee it thinks it's brilliant so far.

    Thank you for your review. I’m looking for a travel tripod to use on a winter photo tour in Iceland. I will use a R5 with my largest lens 70-200 2.8. How do you think it would stand up in the tough conditions? I already have a Benro 48 which is far too large to take with me, but a real sturdy tripod.

      Hi there thanks for your comment. I have been out with this tripod in all weathers down to about - 4. It has worked reliably in any conditions. The one thing I woukd avoid is using the centre column in low temperatures. I would replace it with the short column to add more stability abd cut down on weight.

      @@austenohanlon Thank you Austen. I’m tossing up between this tripod and the Benro Rhino which in Australia is $100 more, but folds brown smaller and the weight is about 400 grms less.

    Anything needing a center column to get to eye level isn’t steady enough for telephoto lenses.

      Agree. AND the more segments the legs have the less stable they are.

    Great review, very detailed. Would you mind sharing the weight of the tripod with the short center column inserted? I'm interested in knowing this spec. The stated weight with the long center column is 1.84 kg.

      Hi there thanks very much for your response. I have just weighed it and it's just under 1.72kg. It's a great tripod. It's heavier than many travel tripods but it's much more sturdy. I hope this helps.

    I'm struggling at the moment between a 29mm vs 32mm leg size.
    Mostly building an Astrophotography setup with a star tracker and my aluminum 25mm legs tripod seems a bit flimsy.
    Without braking the bank, I'm wondering if I really need the 32mm or 29mm would be enough.
    Nice video..!

    Hi, Thanks for the very useful review. I am wondering, is there much vibration through the legs of this tripod? Im looking for a good sturdy pod to attach to my rucksack for when I am walking, max lens size being a 70-200mm f4 on a 5dmkiii. Thanks for any info :)

    • @austenohanlon
      @austenohanlon  7 місяців тому

      Hi there I find the vibration levels excellent. The carbon fibre and the 32mm diameter of the legs means that it very sturdy. I have used it in high winds too and it works really well. I hope this helps.

    Hi. Thanks for the great review. I am looking to buy maybe this one or a Slik Pro CF-834 and I have a question. The Slik is 28mm tubes instead of 32mm as on the, but this one probably packs down smaller given the triangular shaped center column. Now, I am going to use the center column somewhat extended all the time for various reasons, and I can't help but feeling like the Innorel's center column seem to have a bit of a loose fit when unclamped. What's your opinion on the clamping mechanism on the Innorel? Also, the Slik has this really cool double locking feature where it really cinches the center column by using two locking mechanisms, as can be seen if you have a look at this short video sequence: ua-cam.com/video/DDPSrWt9nWg/v-deo.html . Would it be too much to ask for your opinion on which of the two mounts you think would provide the best stability. The Innorel with the thicker tubes, or the Slik with the thinner tube but probably better center column locking mechanism? Thank you so much if you take the time to give me your opinion, from just looking at the video. Best regards.

    • @austenohanlon
      @austenohanlon  3 місяці тому

      Hi there thanks very much your comment. I use the innorel without the centre column as the base height is sufficient for me and therefore adds more stability. The tripod it's self is very well constructed and I have used it every week through some harsh conditions. The centre coloum seems fine but it is difficult for me to comment as I took it out after a week of use. The slik pro cf 834 seems like an excellent piece of kit but sadly I have not used one. I woukd say that the innorel provides excellent stabity due to the size of its legs and quality of carbon fiber. Sorry I can't be more of a help but I woukd not want to advise you on products I have not tested rigorously. I hope this helps.
