the original studio version has a long orchestral intro, but in the live version they did a great improvisation with piano and guitar and it sounds different but just as cool. I have a lot of respect for them as musicians who can play not only metal, their acoustic and improvisations, including jazz, are completely awesome. They can play almost anything.
First ;) Edit: The entire show where this is from was an amazing experience. I have also seen them play this version 'actually live' (together with the A-Capella version of Rivers) at their 20th anniversary concert in 2022 and it was just as good.
Love the slow build. I agree, this is an epic song, and Simone nails it. It's from the 2016 album The Holographic Principle, lyrics by Simone, music by Coen. This was the 10th full song of 14, 2 after KOH part 3 that you watched already, the acapella version of the ballad Rivers was in between. For future reference, Arien van Weesenbeek is the one killing it on drums. For more from this show, try the closer, "Omege: Sovereign of the Sun Spheres. Also, "The Obsessive Devotion", and "The Skeleton Key". But you can't go wrong with any song from here.
Simone really has smoothest transition vocals tech, she can change belting to head voice and than back to chest voice with really smooth feels. Love her so much
Nice reaction, great song and great (streamingj concert! September this year they have 2 concerts with a symphonic orchestra again; I’ve got my ticket for that…
Have you previously seen the song "Rivers" from the "Ωmega Alive" project? That song, and this one, were filmed back-to-back in one shot. If you ever react to that version of "Rivers", you can also play the start of this "Once Upon a Nightmare" just to catch how one leads into the other. But note that there are some other, really wonderful, versions of "Rivers" out there. You could do a two-in-one reaction that includes several versions of that song: * "Ωmega Alive" version: ua-cam.com/video/7geGtgjyQlI/v-deo.html * Original album version: ua-cam.com/video/3rW7Vpep3II/v-deo.html * Live version from AFAS featuring Apocalyptica: ua-cam.com/video/7imPLmvLyQA/v-deo.html * Live version from Santiago de Chile: ua-cam.com/video/qcLGgfyOmZE/v-deo.html
Another great reaction guys. One of many fabulous ballads by Epica where Simone really gets to shine. Especially love the intro with the piano and guitar. I think it is so cool that Isaac is playing a seven string Les Paul. Not sure if there are any other metal guitarists playing a Les Paul. Filmed by their usual videographer, Jen the Panda. He used a similar style on their live one shot of the ballad Rivers from their concert in Chile. If you watch some of the fan videos from that show you can see him filming on stage. Looking forward to more Epica. Concur on maybe doing Rivers next. My favorite version is the one shot from Chile because of the videography but any version of the song is going to be great.

This was the second of two ballads they recorded as a single take. The first, Rivers, was Simone singing ‘A Capella’ with a choir. Also very stunning.
The singer Simone start her singing by Epica with 17years now she is 39years and one of the best sopranos in Metall 🤘 🤘 🤘

Interesting thing about shooting this, the cameraman had to have a second guy trailing him to make sure he didn’t step back into the fire.

My favourite band ever. And they keep getting better as well. Fantastic production and version of the song 🤘😎🤘
Omega Live was a series of live presentations performed for the fans during the Covid debacle similar to Nightwish's live at the Islander's Arms
Nice reaction, great song and great (streamingj concert!

I've known Simone since she was 16, it's bizarre. I know some of her classmates too, and Floor from now Nightwish)
The Gibson doing the lead is a zeven string one and that is unseal. There are not that much Gibsons with seven strings. Just to let you know. Rock on!
