This movie was supposed to focus on the origins of Batman in a psychological way, hence why the Chase Meridian character fitted so well. I would've loved if they took that chance to make a third movie focused on an origins movie.
I believe Nolan put the kibosh on this from happening so that everyone would think he was brilliant for things from this original version that later appeared in his Dark Knight Trilogy, just like how he vetoed Joaquin Phoenix from having a Glasgow smile.
I also believe that. Nolan is shadier than people think. Also, Batman Begins grew out of so many different scripts... the use of Scarecrow as one of the villains, the origin story (unproduced Batman: Year One), the whole thing with bats from the Schumacher Cut... Nolan and Goyer really didn't have too many original ideas. They just gathered what was done before by people working on Batman movies and they presented it in a more serious movie with a more realistic look.

They don't make 'em better than this
Espetacular
I actually thought the villain would be Man-bat, like in The Batman Animated Series.

@@gorgonopslongifrons50 Newsflash that's what most writers, producers, directors do when they're relaunching a known story/character.
I can't believe Nolan used the Batman comics as inspiration for his Batman films! What a hack!
Val Kilmer was a good Batman.
