  • Each Mayan Temple Flute is tuned to the first four notes of the minor pentatonic scale. This consists of the root note, minor third, perfect fourth, fifth, and the thumb hole as a minor sixth from the root note when all holes are uncovered. The left and right chambers of this flute harmonize as they are tuned fourths apart - if the right hand chamber has a low A root note, then the left has a high D root note.
The Western Red Cedar Mayan Temple Flute features Black Walnut on the mouthpiece, for added durability. It also features a copper Medicine Wheel, with Turqoise gemstone set within.
Most Mayan Temple flutes are tuned fifths apart; this one is tuned fourths apart. The special tuning of this flute opens up new harmonic territory for the advancing musician, with fresh possibilities for modulation.
