One rec change to this video, wire the fuel sending unit directly to the Dakota box, I ran into "Fuel Open" issues trying to go through the factory pinouts on the cluster, even when ground directly to the box. It works fine wired directly.
Don’t really miss the tach.. the sound of a 460 with a right rear exhaust stud broken is unmistakable. Clock is on my Pioneer head unit.. and is wrong anyway.
What # on the plug did you use for the left signal power wire. I'm currently doing this install on a '79 F150 and everything I have read, and all my wiring diagrams say to use the blue/green wire, which should be #13 on the plug. But #13 on my plug is pink/white.
@@jacobgragg885 Hmm im not sure whats going on then, I put the line in the description for the numbers on the harness. Double check that and see if that works.
Hey I get that too. This truck has almost nothing original left on it though so it was a pretty easy decision. Anyone doing a modern driveline swap this is a must upgrade for sure.
Im a KISS guy; Keep It Simple Stupid. dakota digital gauges seem cool but , it SEEMS stupid to pay $1700 for a set of gauges when rest of your entire truck cost $4700 or anything like that ballpark range. if you are totally restoring some Classic vehicle and want it to rival some 2020 vehicle in reliability and coolfactor etc then maybe $1700 on a gauge package makes sense but that 1700 looks smaller when your total all in cost is 50,000
I'm somewhere in the middle. Go wild with drivetrain and suspension without hacking the frame up. Subtle mods with the body and interior. I've never been a fan of the digital clusters but that thing is beautiful. I love the stockish look. That rats nest of wiring would drive me absolutely insane. I don't like wiring but when I do it I have to make it pretty. Trying to diagnose an issue down the road is going to be an absolute nightmare on that.
Got that unit, the AAW painless wiring harness, trailer hitch including wiring / controller and Vintage Air setup going in my son’s 78 Bronco. I’m about 80% done with the simultaneous install now. I hope everything works out as advertised, quite a bit of time getting everything done, not even considering the cost of the components.
Very nice, yea my Trans Am in the intro is RTX with the painless full replacement harness and edelbrock pro-flo. That was a very long wiring install but its perfect.
It looks very original for sure. I don't think there is a direct swap for an old van, but you could look into a universal square monitor offered by Holley or Edelbrock.
I have the same engine and gauge set up. Right now might be a good time to add the provisions for EGT’s and Boost. Dakota digital couldn’t make it easier with their gear.

I wish Ford included a tach and clock from the factory, along with numbers for the coolant temp gauge. This product fixes all of that.

I always knew if the temp was a little below half... I was good. Lol
Nice looking cluster. I like that there is a factory look. I will have to keep that in mind when I get further along on my F100.
Its good value as well considering how much of an improvement it is.
Im just a hobbyist, but this sounds like a fire waiting to happen. Those blue connectors look awesome!!!
Thanks, very helpful. Working on a ‘74 highboy with a 24v ppump.
Pretty cool upgrade. Keep up the good content. 👍👍
Thank you much appreciated!
I’m a traditionalist, I want trucks to be as original as possible.

I find it cool that it looks *fairly* stock.
That why I like this setup over everything else. Its the look Ford should have gone with in 79, hate not having a tach

Digital, something else to tear up.
That's pretty tasteful for that old style dash. I wonder if someone makes an upgrade for a 98 e350 Diesel van?

Really like this weeks episode. Didn't know about this and if I can get the money I will put this in my 79 F250.
It made a difference in the visibility of the gauges. I did it to mine when I rewired it all and made it a towing machine.
Hey thanks appreciate it. If you have a really nice truck, this is a worthwhile upgrade.
@@jdruin1 I plan on driving this one almost daily, so this was a must upgrade.

Yea thats a good point, I am going to be running Autometer Phantom 2s pyro, boost, and trans as a separate stack on the dash.
Wish I would have seen this before i put all auto meters in….
Ah yea thats a shame wouldnt have been that much more either probably..
How mush ? , got 3 turnin to dust
😂
my basement is packed with clusters!
@@DentsideDepot hoarder like me , you need cabs , if you're gonna fix blacky.....
☺
This is killer but the got damn price is over $1600!
why.......
😂 no.
1600 dollars? sixteen hundred dollars? , , , , my 150 cost 300 bucks less than that for the whole truck.
Myself I'd rather keep it original I'm a KISS PERSON
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!!!
Now when that breaks down you have more problems...
Not very well thought out…
All that shit and you are still using glass fuses? Wtf?
Cool looking set of gauges, shitty install
zeal.
Laborously done
IT's awesomke that the parts are present and it's possible to do so|
Cool!!
