Swifties! I'm releasing a Taylor Swift Best Of piano album soon. 💖🎹
Taylor and her songs have been a huge part of Relaxing Piano Covers from the beginning. For the upcoming album, I chose some of my favorite tunes and asked you about yours. The result is a ten-song, 45-minute journey of calm, heartfelt, and melodic piano miniatures in a variety of styles.
Finding creative ways of translating her vocals and especially the lyrics onto the piano has been the most exciting part of the project.
I hope you will be able to "hear" every lyric line even if the words aren't there.
And of course, as with all of my music, you can just let it run in the background while you're going about your day.

When you were little how did you get motivation to play, couse i am approaching my piano exam and I have no motivation to play.
Oh Nina, what a tough question ;-) There are two parts to it: what I did do and what I should have done.
I did actually practice quite a lot (it's always relative - if you have lots of musician friends, you'll always find someone who practices more) when I was a teenager. But not always what was necessary. I would much rather spend 4 hours playing something that was fun than "work" on something for a few minutes that was hard but would actually help me progress.
Not that playing for fun isn't extremely valuable - quite the opposite! But I think it's important to have a balance (not only with piano playing but in life in general) of things we do for fun and things we do so we can have even more fun in the future. I know that for myself, spending too much time on the fun side defenitely slowed down many things. And this makes you regret it later. Therefore my ultimate motivation for working hard is: Never do anything half-hearted, so I don't regret it later. Many of my piano students were in somewhat a similar situation as you: they used to play piano as a child and loved it but somehow stopped playing as a teenager. Now they are around 40 and think: if only I hadn't stopped playing, this was once so much fun!
If you want something a bit more practical: reflect on what motivates you in general. I was pretty competitive as a teenager, so when I entered a competition or concert, my thoughts were always: ok, let me show it to them all! :-D Maybe that's not you, but playing for your friends could help you get new excitement for what you play on the piano. And in addition to your exam pieces, defenitely play some songs just because you enjoy them and abandon them the second you don't enjoy them any longer.
Sorry for the long answer! Ask me again in 50 years when I'm (really) old and hopefully much wiser - I might have the solution then. But on the other hand, by then you will have found your own way :-D
