That's more of a question for companies like e.g. Biontech. But in general, it can be said that cancer research has been looking at mRNA technology for the past 20 years, and in the field of cancer immunotherapy, progress has also been increasing in recent years. For example, an abstract on the subject was recently published in the cancer network: www.cancernetwork.com/view/messenger-rna-vaccines-beckoning-of-a-new-era-in-cancer-immunotherapy.

If you are interested in more details: Evonik just started a cooperation with Stanford University, working on a technology to deliver mRNA to tissues and organs that goes beyond the capabilities of lipid nanoparticles: corporate.evonik.de/en/media/press-releases/corporate/evonik-and-stanford-university-sign-research-collaboration-evonik-to-market-and-develop-new-drug-del-159498.html
