If your parents were informed initially that you were doing drugs, shouldn't they approach you first instead of plotting to destroy your career aspirations?
    THEY ARE LYING!

If I was OP, I would have told them that, unless they wanted an immediate reunion with their lost daughter, they are to leave immediately and not come back, and when they came back a second time, I would have sent them to that reunion in the most painful way possible. I'm not an athlete, but I do like playing baseball, and Texas is a stand your ground state.

Hmm, how much of this is not wanting to loose the other daughter and how much is the fact they have money troubles and need financial help for the sisters death and medical bills…..?

6:03 What!? They lost OP already when they joined in to falsely accuse her for a dumb reason. What idiots.

It's very hard to get away from family members that have substance issues. In fact, they are always broke, going to jail, needing bail money, needing rides to get tested, making promises they can't keep and constantly calling you. You essentially have no peace. All sorts of drama, finding rehab places, rescuing them at night, counseling sessions, and getting stuff out of pawn. The OP in this story is just the opposite of this. The parents would have been bombarded with requests.

Well you either have to be smart or have experience. So the parents have neither.

    YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! 👍
Always have a benefit of the doubt. Your parents believe everything without even listening or investigating. And for 7 years you want to apologise......!?. Screw that they lost her and you

"We had no choice but to believe her."
No choice? They didn't even try to find the truth. They didn't even try to reconnect until their other daughter died.

I would not believe them, they are trying to cover their ass now that their daughter is dead and remembered they had a backup. I'd tell them "you had one daughter and now she is dead, never talk to me again".

If the dead did evil things tell the truth.
The dead can’t retaliate. Plus the saying to not speak ill of the dead is moronic.

Not sure if you can class it as speaking ill of the dead if it’s the truth, only really applies if it’s malicious and false in my opinion.

There's nothing like jealous relatives! They will hurt you more than a stranger ever will.

Op never mentioned bribes to the parents. They brought that up on their own. Either they did in fact participate in bribes or knew that the sister did

They mentioned your money? First not their business but definitely a giant red flag.

Yeah, my reaction at that point would have been an immediate and irrevocable, "Ohhhh, so THAT'S why you're here."

I don’t think that matters. Whether they were involved in the deception plan to ruin you or not, did they doubt? Give you a chance to defend yourself ? Believe you or believe in you? I say no. They chose their golden child favorite and her lies over you and deserve NOTHING. There’s nothing to think about because the abandoned you and helped destroy your future plans. Screw em. And frankly, your grandparents are not any better and don’t deserve your attention either.

The roommate had no right to give out op personal information no matter how much she felt bad I would've went low contact/ no contact with her for that

No matter what, those parents are just as much at fault for not talking to her about it first.

The sister is obviously the golden child who could do no wrong…..
The sounds like a spoiled selfish narcissist bully lying manipulative brat who believes the whole world should revolve around her and she can do whatever she wants because she’s mommy and daddy’s golden child…..
Op owes them nothing for what they did to op……
I think the sister set op up to ruin op life…..
The parents only should up after the sister death like op is their back up plan…….

Maybe your sister was the sole one responsible, but given what they were told they should have sought help for you, not get you expelled.
