I’m definitely using this format moving forward. I did, however, let my players know that the first story I’m doing is going to be a quick one off heist type just to get their feet wet as well as mine since we are all extremely new to the Cyberpunk world. I’m doing this to give them something to do while I am working on the larger story through your process.
I don't know if you were aware of this, but at the bottom of the screen on google sheets, there is a "add sheet" button which lets you have several pages in a single spreadsheet. That way you don't need extra tabs open.
Great advice. I am going to see just how this works out for me. I plan to incorporate it into my Notion Prep sessions. Thanks for your efforts to increase the enjoyment of others games. I really feel like this will help me make an epic campaign.
this helps a lot! so far i've been oneshotting my way through our session, which works, but also each session starts with a lot of introduction to new places and situations and that takes up most of the session
If this works for you, great, but definitely not my style. I tend to think that as a game master you have to adjust as the players make choices and cater to their decisions. Have a general idea of how things are going to start and who the characters are, sure, but mapping out what happens is a bit railroady.
Thank you for commenting. I actually do what you do as well. I map out the whole campaign and make changes as the players change things. I've scrapped entire acts before because of the players' input. I only do this so I can always have something prepared for my players just in case.
This video is immensely helpful. I’ll be implementing this framework in my current campaign. Thank you for what you do! Ps. Are there any campaigns online (twitch, podcasts, youtube, etc.) where you’ve been a player rather than a GM?
Thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it. The only game that I'm a player in is my buddy's starfinder game. Otherwise I really don't have a lot of free time to be playing in a game unfortunately
Yes I tried to do that with Cyberpunk but I found that my players would rather focus on the plot and overarching story rather than “exploring”. I made the campaign very personal. So they were very eager to resolve it.
I have random oneliners on my phone, two separate notebooks and a plaintext file on my computer about my upcoming campaign. This is _exactly_ what I need. Thank you choom!
Dude, this framework is exactly what I needed. I too want to be a complete psycho with building everything out! Quality stuff and looking forward to episode 3!
Really glad I found this. A lot of resources on putting together campaigns basically say "Don't prep anything, pure player sandbox or you're doing it wrong." This presents a solid alternative process that directly addresses the core issues prepared campaigns often have: not involving the player characters enough.
For players plot chart are you coming up with these plots for your players personal storyline yourself and what do you do if you think of an ending plot but the player reacts totally different than what you thought they would in the middle plot? Do you just change the ending plot for their personal story arc?
"Joe's brother dies in his arms... that's something fun." - JonJon To quote Inigo Montoya. "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." 😄
Joe: "Oh my god I've just found out I have a brother!" seconds later "And he's dead."
GM: "So that's something fun."

Have you used this method with a sandbox campaign rather than a plot driven one?

I'm glad to be of service, and I wish you nothing but the happiest gaming!
Listening to this plot progression, I'm convinced that Neil Breen is the best Netrunner, everybody needs a Neil Breen in their adventuring party.
Thank you so much. Your videos have been extremely useful in building my first Cyberpunk campaign as a GM
Glad to be of help, happy gaming and thanks for the support
This is really great and I’m probably going to use this for the campaigns I run for a long time
great resource and another great vid jon
Thank you choomba. I'm looking forward to watching your Mother 3 commentary 👍

Yes I come up with it myself and i always make changes. I let the sessions dictate what's going on with the story. I'm not afraid to make changes
This is nice and simplified way of writing. I've been writing rpg's for 30 years, wish i could have made money with it like you.
Super helpful dude. Just starting out with running rpgs and this is invaluable knowledge. I'm all about crafting experiences.
Glad to be of help dude🫂
Wow brilliant! This really solidified some stuff I had been mulling over for a while. Thank you!!
Thank you buddy, much love
This is excellent stuff
