Knock down several levels. Years ago Ebay started a system where sellers were gigged for everything that went wrong but or didn't go wrong but there was a question. Ebay almost destroyed themselves. @@zitaonyinyechi7718 Hi, I will sincerely suggest to you, you surround yourself by those who have succeeded on upwork, and of positive mindset. You will see the difference. You will succeed in it. I started exactly a month ago. I was mentally prepared for setbacks, failure and obstacles...despite being an expert in what I do outside freelancing space.. I concentrated 6-9 hours everyday digging out knowledge on UA-cam University 🎓 🤣. Searching any info searchable till I discovered top rated freelancers that have made cool money. I got a big journal, I started taking serious notes and applying all what they said. I landed my first job in 2 weeks and two more others in a week (I wasn't expecting that at alllllll) To be candid, nothing good comes easy. What you surround yourself with matters! Should you sit amidst negative comments, you will loose out. I send out like 5-10 proposals a day. I am rugged. I just landed another good client ready to establish a relationship outside Upwork cos he was more than impressed with what I do. He even subscribed to my UA-cam channel.
As a newbie, it's been impossible to get anything but scammers for me Also, you're so right, honestly selling gigs for 5 dollars never really made sense, after taxes and fiverrs 20%, where's your profit?!!
Right! But back when the platform was first created, this was one of the main selling points! And, after realizing it wasn’t an American company, that made it make a little more sense!
I think Upwork is great because of having to pay a small amount to invite people. This actually makes you commit at some level and will prevent a lot of time wasting.
Ah, this was a great video! I can definitely tell that canceling an order hurts your account. I've only had one order and I had to cancel it due to a tragedy...my impressions and clicks are suffering. And I hate that it happened because I'm literally a New Seller! It sounds like they both have he opposing cons and pros and it's like a you can't win for lose situation lol.
Hey Tyra, as a buyer you do have the option to filter on the seller's location. The filter is under Seller Details -> Seller Location. However, speaking of bias and your situation with that buyer, unless it's something you need a native to do, I would highly recommend using sellers from other regions too, especially Europe. Top-quality deliveries don't only come from the US... that's why so many international companies choose their professionals from various countries as well as skills are really impressive and English is spoken pretty well by anyone as it's being taught from 0 grades in schools. :)
choosing to work with people from the US is a personal preference. In my experience I've gotten scammed using sellers specifically from the middle east. They dont deliver what their gig states they can do, which is what I was referring to in the video. And, the communication barrier can be frustrating. I've used the fiverr platform for almost 10 years now, and this is my experience.
I just hate the bidding stuff on UpWork... majority of proposals are not even looked at, so I have to pay to spend a proposal that someone is most likely to ignore if you're not fortunate enough to be one of the first three people to apply. It's BS. Isn't it enough that they get a cut? And now that I understand that buyers have to pay to reach out to freelancers... it's even more crazy that they have us bidding for work like this. Talk about taking advantage of people who need work.
i think this video is the most complete video on UA-cam or i must say internet. A big thumbs up. I just watched your first video today and wasn't expecting this much details. Very very impressive really. All questions cleared.👍👍👍
Thank you for this, I was on the fence on fiverr as a designer but now I know to stay clear. You should have just did a video on upwork😄but this is cool because I appreciate all the information
I think both have their perks! I make more money "consistently" on fiverr these days, so I do keep them around, I don think it"ll hurt to give them a try!
Great vid Tyra. I dont belong to either platform as yet. I was a copywriter (with a science degree) for many years back in the actually "Work for an Ad Agency" days! After a very very very lengthy tropical retirement, I am looking back into copywriting. What are the chances of making a "Consistent" 550 Australian dollars (372 US) every week on either platforms? It obviously isn't much and I assume it should be easily achievable, but the digital age has totally levelled put the playing field in a huge way. Thanks Tyra
Fiverr is the worst app for freelancing. Some buyers abuse of the ask for revision button and CS is aware of that. They ask for work that is outside the initial scope. Since CS has 0 technical knowledge they always side with the buyer. You don't get paid and buyer gets service for free. I have also had my gigs removed for no reason and got a permanent ban. When I asked CS they said that programming robots for forex trading was not allowed. A quick search shows 100's of people selling them. Upwork has higher quality clients
Fiverr removed my gig by saying it’s inappropriate just because someone flagged it and now my account is on review. While the other sellers are working fine on the same category offering the same services. This is totally biased.
Tyra this is so helpful!!! I just signed up for Upwork! I’m breaking into the design space! Thank you so much for your insight! Your videos are definitely HIGH QUALITY! Sounds like Upwork is the way to go!
thank you! I am so glad you enjoyed the video! I prefer Upwork as a seller, simply because you have the ability to get less of a percentage taken out of your money, and as a buyer, I prefer fiverr!
Excuse me, but English originated from England in the UK. I am English. I speak better English than you Americans. Kindly edit that mistake out of your video.
I am the buyer on fivver. When you need help from Customer Service it is difficult to communicate with them. They canceled my account twice and I have no idea as to why. The first time they reactivated but they never answer my question as to why they pause my account in the first place. Tonight I decided to go into Fiverr again to look for someone to help me with my website and I get a message that is frozen. I cannot work with these people and I would never recommend them to anyone.
Im fron south africa and have recently started with upwork. I have completed my first project. I received an email that i need to pay a $50 refundable linking fee to receive my payment. Anyone also had this. Very scared to be scammed.
Well done. I haven't tried Upwork yet and was wondering if they collect from the client for you? Do you have to send either Upwork or the client an invoice? BTW, I subscribed.

As a newbie, it's been impossible to get anything but scammers for me
Also, you're so right, honestly selling gigs for 5 dollars never really made sense, after taxes and fiverrs 20%, where's your profit?!!
Right! But back when the platform was first created, this was one of the main selling points! And, after realizing it wasn’t an American company, that made it make a little more sense!
I think Upwork is great because of having to pay a small amount to invite people. This actually makes you commit at some level and will prevent a lot of time wasting.
First video that I felt was actually unbiased. Thank you very much!
Indeed very helpful
Fiverr takes 20% of your tip...which is DEPICABLE.
Hi Lucia! What’s your favorite platform to use? 🙏🏾
Ah, this was a great video! I can definitely tell that canceling an order hurts your account. I've only had one order and I had to cancel it due to a tragedy...my impressions and clicks are suffering. And I hate that it happened because I'm literally a New Seller!
It sounds like they both have he opposing cons and pros and it's like a you can't win for lose situation lol.
lol basically! thats why I just use both!
I just started too and haven't had any work. But I've had 51 impressions
So far this is the MOST HELPFUL video I have found on the subject. Your review seemed quite fair. So informative. Thanks for sharing this with us!
you are so welcome!! I am glad I could help!

Just the video I was looking for Thanks a lot
Many people hate fiverr because of experience. I'm still a student and tried it, It was good for sideline jobs not for full time(i think).
i think this video is the most complete video on UA-cam or i must say internet. A big thumbs up. I just watched your first video today and wasn't expecting this much details. Very very impressive really. All questions cleared.👍👍👍
thank you so muchhhh! 🥰
Thanks Tyra
Thank you so much. Personally, this is the most helpful video about Fiverr.
Regards from Egypt.
yayyyy! so glad I could help!
GIRL! I feel you about the lying preview work. So much money wasted because their Gig gallery didn't match their skills.
🗣 Gotta say it louder for the people in the back!!
I also love how you broke down the video. You went through the pros and cons of Fiverr in a variety of instances, then moved to Upwork.
Fiverr removed my gig by saying it’s inappropriate just because someone flagged it and now my account is on review. While the other sellers are working fine on the same category offering the same services. This is totally biased.
Oh no! What was your gig???
Tyra this is so helpful!!! I just signed up for Upwork! I’m breaking into the design space! Thank you so much for your insight! Your videos are definitely HIGH QUALITY! Sounds like Upwork is the way to go!
Solomon!!!! Glad it was helpful! I wish you luckkkk!!
Is this a good service fir a video podcaster
Indeed very helpful
Glad this was helpful! Yes there are lots of opportunities for podcasting and video type of jobs on Fiver and Upwork
Nice video, very informative. What do you prefer? Fiverr or Upwork?
Damn... Here I am, turned 19 just looking for a job haha
you got this!!
Thorough video and great explanation for both platforms 👏🏾
yay! so glad you enjoyed it!! 🥰
11:24 Didn't expected that 🥴 UK and India are like mostly know English, i mean cause of uk usa got familiar with it🌝
Just got started in Upwork is it a must for me to upload a UA-cam video in my profile
BTW, I subscribed.
all invoicing takes place directly on the platforms!
@@TyraTheCreative Thank you.
You mentioned very complete aspects of both, thanks.
of course! I am glad I could help!
both are crap if you are new. you will be wasting you time and money to compete with other bunch of low quality.
This is GOLD!
so glad I could provide some value for you!! 🥰
thanks so much. I'm a budding frontend web developer, and want to start doing freelance work once my skills improve just a little bit higher. I can't wait until I'm able to work for myself.
You are so welcome! 🥰🥳

So you'll quit your job because of the corporate ladder to climb the Fiverr corporate ladder
Wow 🥺
I mean, it depends on how you look at it haha
