    My multi tool is a Gerber Center Drive, I use a SAK Ranger 55 pocket knife, Mora Garberg, and primary knife is a Cold Steel Heavy Kukri. All the tools I need with back up knifes. Great Video by the way! Your channel is AWESOME

    Great review. The sidekick is my EDC. It’s a good combination of big enough to get the job done and small enough to carry all the time.

    Nice! I roll with my Wave on most of my outdoor trips especially camping, hunting and ice fishing. The pliers are so handy for holding pots, crimping wire, etc. Handy that the wave has a diamond file for sharpening other knives too. I think the wave is similar to your sidekick. I use the screwdrivers alot too.

    Good review. Its always good to know how a tool holds up after several years of use. I like the size of that model too. Thanks Paul.

    Great vid Paul. I use the wave myself but considering the sidekick as an EDC now. Corporal recommended you and I’m very impressed. All you guys are mentors of the finest caliber!

    Nice review. Thank you for your insight.
    I personally prefer the SOG Power assist. One handed flip opening of the pliers is must for me when working on things. Leatherman tools just open way to hard for my liking.

    Thanks Paul for your review. It's really helpful. I'd been looking at leatherman multi tools over the past weeks. But I think I'll stick with my Victorinox Swiss Army Rangergrip 78 Multi-Tool Pocket Knife. I really like it. Corporal Kelly uses one as well.

    I have two 300’s and two sidekicks. I have sidekicks as EDC’s and the 300’s go in the packs as backup. Love the can openers on all and the blades are awesome.

      The 300 is definitely a beast. I liked it, just the Sidekick was a little easier to carry daily.

    I have the surge, reason being I can easily replace the saw blade and wire cutters if they wear out, but if I'm not carrying that I carry the victorinox ranger grip 79, love that thing

    Victorinox 111mm or 130mm, lots to choose from so you can most likely find one with a toolset that fits your needs.

    I took out the file and put some Wave scissors in it and carried that Leatherman for close to three years. Until I got the Free P4 I loved it.

    Nice video, Paul. Since my basic class, I've been carrying the Leatherman Blast. It does not feature the outside blade access the Sidekick does, but is does have the blade, saw, file and scissors, all of the implements lock into position. I looked it up for price comparison only to find it has been retired. I actually received this tool from Leatherman as a replacement for my broken original Leatherman model. They do stand up to their 25 year warranty. Thanks again for another great video! See you in August!

    Have both sidekick & wave. Both good. Wave is more robust & sturdy but heavier and no clip. Sidekick light and with clip. Wave has a couple more features. would think victorinox if pliers is no big deal but blade & saw are. The corporal sent his regards. Glad he recommended you.

    I love my Sidekicks too. I bought a Surge, the range of tools was great, but it was so uncomfortable in my hands I knew I really wasn't going to use it, so I returned it. I also have a Signal, and wanted to replace the ridiculous combo blade with a plain blade. So I bought a used Sidekick on eBay, thinking I would try swapping the blades out, and ended up getting two because I won a bid on a second one. I loved it so much that I kept them both intact and ended up buying just a blade (from a Wave I think) that I replaced the Signal blade with. I wish the Sidekick had scissors too, but just as is it's super useful and I love it. I agree about the blade retaining it's razor sharp edge really well. Great saw too. I like how the pliers spring open, the Signal pliers don't do that and it's a bit more of a pain to use them. I recently bought a Free P4 and I love it! It's the perfect multitool, slightly bigger than the Sidekick so for EDC sometimes I still opt for the Sidekick. But for going bush I'll always choose the Free P4.

    When Leatherman came out I bought one the first time I tried using the pliers as pliers the jaw broke in two. Never went back. I am using a Gerber now

  • @craigscreek1

    I've carried a Gerber for longer than I can remember and it served me well. But I recently swapped it out for a Leatherman Free P4 and over all I like it, with the exception of the file which is not really going to be usable.

      Bill , I found the file on my leather man works great for keeping a edge on my axe or shovel .

    • @craigscreek1
      @craigscreek1 2 роки тому

      @@markw.3743 Thanks Mark. That is encouraging with the cost of these things want every part to be useful, but is yours an different model? The file on the P4 is about an inch long, has only one cut. Some of the older ones did have a file as did my Gerber that was at least as long as the blade and had a two sided cut option, Heavy and light.

    • @markw.3743
      @markw.3743 2 роки тому +1

      Mine is the leather man surge it’s as long as my blade and is removable . I can put a saw blade in it’s place . The file is 2 & a half inches long . I carry it and the extra bits in the sheath. It’s bigger but I like the options it gives me .

    Greetings Paul, from far West Texas.
    Thanks for the review. Sidekick is definitely a good tool without being too bulky.
    On another note, what chest rig are you wearing in this vlog? Though I can't see the entire rig, looks like a good piece of kit.
    Thanks again!
