Rabbi...as I'm listening to your shiur, I had a thought. You just said (around 12:40 or so) that a soul perceives something in its entirety...no parts. So, according to the midrash, when we stood at Har Sinai and HaShem Spoke His First Two Commandments, we both SAW and HEARD His Voice...so it was our souls that perceived HaShem Speak? I know that the midrash says that our souls flew out of our bodies, the experience was so intense and that we begged Moshe to tell us the rest because we couldn't tolerate the intensity of the experience. Is that what I'm hearing?

But can we be in love and kindness with ourselves once we have seen the truth of ourselves and know how and what to transform. I feel Tshvah can only be fruitful if we have a certain amount of love and kindness towards ourselves, because if we don't have that we will all commit suicide out of guilt and shame we will not be able to.have courage to mend our ways and do Tshvah.
